MEDITATION SPACE
At the outset of this project, we were tasked with selecting two verbs that would serve as the inspiration for our visual narratives. From there, we set to work meticulously crafting each element of our designs, developing guidelines and diagrams to ensure that our work accurately and effectively portrayed the chosen verbs. We then went on to create an intricate 3D model, which we aptly named “bones,” to fully showcase the space and volume of our designs. By leveraging our skills in design and visualization, we successfully brought our chosen verbs to life in a manner that was both striking and visually compelling.

GATHER
Healing is a holistic, transformative process of repair and recovery in mind, body, and spirit. It’s a universal process between oneself and nature. A person who walks through this mediation space will gather in the communal main space and if desired will be able to go on the pathway over the stream for a peaceful individualized experience.

RICHMOND BATHHOUSE
Prior to embarking on our bathhouse project, we undertook a comprehensive research phase to expand our understanding of bathhouses across the globe. I delved into the fascinating history of the Leca Pools in Portugal, conducting extensive research and analysis to fully understand the nuances of this unique and storied structure. I developed a series of intricate case study models and diagrams, highlighting the key elements of the Leca Pools that resonated with me. This research helped us design our bathhouse with a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage and beauty of this ancient tradition.

BENGA RIVERSIDE RESIDENTIAL
Through an in-depth analysis of the Benga Riverside Residential Community case study, we honed our skills in various digital programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Leveraging the full range of these powerful tools, we created a diverse array of visually stunning collages and other dynamic representations. Our exploration of these software programs proved invaluable, allowing us to develop a deep understanding of their unique capabilities and limitations while broadening our technical skill set in exciting new ways.

04 Sensory Exploration: Contrasting Harrisonburg, VA and Tohoku, Japan through Drift Maps
Experience the sensory journey through the streets of Harrisonburg, VA as Drift maps highlight site analysis of sound, noise, lighting and circulation. Delve into the contrast between this bustling town and the devastation of tsunami and radioactive destruction in Tohoku, Japan, exploring the movement in the area.

STUDIO INTERVENTION
The aim of this project was to carefully measure an existing space and produce detailed plans, sections, and elevations. Our team then utilized this information to devise a creative design solution that would address a specific issue within the space. The challenge we faced was noise and distraction from the gallery area. To tackle this problem, we came up with an innovative solution: movable rammed earth barriers that not only provide extra seating but also serve as pin-up spaces for gallery use. This intervention effectively minimizes noise and distraction while adding a unique and aesthetically pleasing element to the space.

Inspired by the evocative words of Italo Calvino in his seminal work “Invisible Cities,” I embarked on a creative journey to transform language into captivating visual narratives. The task was to craft imaginative collages that artfully conveyed the essence of Calvino’s prose, while also capturing the essence of the built, natural, and social environments around us.
