Cricket and the town of Maldon are synonymous with each other- in fact, the first game was played in the town in 1755. Our current club, Maldon Cricket Club, was founded in 1975 following the merging of two local sides; Maldon Strollers and Old Maldonians.

The club is one of the most successful in Essex, currently running five men’s teams, a ladies side as well as a thriving youth system producing cricketers of an excellent quality. One player the club produced, Sir Alastair Cook, went onto become one of England’s finest ever cricketers, and is currently the highest test match run scorer in English history.

We are proud to hold the ECB Club Mark Accreditation, and we continue to strive to progress both on and off the pitch whilst playing a key part in the community.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Maldon Cricket Club is looking to strengthen its relationships within the local community, including but limited to, charitable organisations, businesses and community groups.

In 2023, we are offering a wide range of commercial opportunities which we believe can enhance the marketing output with some unique advertising methods not only around our club and members, but via our growing online platforms. On Twitter alone, in the last three years we have reached over three million users, averaging 1,051,101 per year.

On the pitch in 2023, we will have four Saturday open age teams, a Sunday team, a ladies team, a team competing in a midweek T20 league, and 7 junior teams running from U11 through to U19. On Friday evenings, we host fun and active training sessions from primary school children in year one upwards, capped off with a Kwik Cricket Festival on Friday 30 June for our local primary schools. Over the course of the year, our teams with adults will take to the field at least 125 times, whilst we already have 50 junior games locked in the calendar.

During 2023, we will be publishing an events calendar with at least one event happening each month during the season, including our spectacular of the year, Cricket Week in August 2023. Further details around our events, including dates and types of events will be released in due course.
