A Decade in Review

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling. Ring ting tingling too,” are the cheerful words of “Sleigh Ride,” sang by the combined choirs while accompanied by the Concert Band and alumni from Malden High School’s Choral Arts Society on the night of Dec. 22, 2009. That night was especially significant because about 150 people crowded Malden High School’s Finn Gymnasium to watch, listen, and support the Marching and Concert bands as well as all three choirs. Due to renovations throughout the school, the annual Winter Concert had to be held somewhere else which is how they ended up in the gym. However, the change in scenery and acoustics were not at all a problem for this year’s performers. Karl Denis, the president of the

show was about to begin. The evening started out with a performance titled “Stuff.” When the Marching Band was first given this piece of music, which is a collaboration of two songs called “Uninvited” and “Ghost Love Score”, it was just titled continues on page 13

Frozen Fenway: A Crowd-Freezer Joshua Kummins Reporter

T

he Hockey East Association (HEA) took over Fenway Park on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 for Sun Life Financial Frozen Fenway. The event was a men’s and women’s college hockey doubleheader, which featured two storied rivalries. The experience was once-ina-lifetime for all involved. “It’s a remarkable experience to go out on the ice and look around,” said Boston College head coach Jerry York in a press conference on Thursday night. “It’s a hard feeling to describe but there’s a rink there and its just amazing.” York’s feelings were not unique, however, as many others had similar thoughts about participating in the games. “Just being outside in this atmosphere has everyone having a lot of fun playing out there,” said Boston University co-captain Eric

Northeastern Huskies. To make the event even more special, the opening game of the event was the firstever outdoor game in the history of women’s college hockey. The men’s game began at 7:45 p.m. and featured one of the greatest continues on page 20
