Background of Project
Old Structure 1.2 Challenges
Old
The face lifting of P S Railway Station Project, also known as Patna Saheb Railway Station, aimed to give the station a religious feel because it is a sacred city for Sikh followers. As a result, the design is inspired by the majority of Sikh temples. The completion of the project was planned to commemorate Guru Govind Singh Saheb's 350th birthday. Additionally, one of the most difficult aspects of completing the project was achieving the religious resemblance by combining traditional and contemporary architectural styles.

Planning of Project
Load Bearing Structure and Frame Structure
Since it was constructed in 1861, this station is a load-bearing structure, as shown in close view of the plan. Due to religious sentiments, we were unable to demolish any portion of the existing building during the planning of this facelift, restricting our ability to utilize more cuttingedge creativity.
We only had the option of adding some grids in front of the existing structure to give the station a more contemporary appearance because we had to use the old structure as the basis for our design.

Sketches and thought process
These are a few sketches that shows how we came up with our strategy, which resulted in amazing output. We started with the idea that the design should have a religious touch and incorporate some contemporary elements to get the desired design in accordance with the structure.
As it’s visible in the sample sketches here through the method of drawing, we attempted an alternate dome designs, arches, different facade plans and a lot more to accomplish the objective.

Section Section
In order to give this station a fresh look, we have added grids in front of the old structure, as shown in the previous slides.
As shown in Part Detail-D and Part Detail-A, the facade have been cut at different grids to show the R.C.C., brickwork, glass, and jali positions in detail. The floor's height and the distance between grids are shown in the elevation, making it easier for the site engineer to work on the site of the Project.

Completed project
In the Indian state of Bihar, Katihar Medical College (KMC) is a medical school in the city of Katihar. Numerous other buildings at this university were constructed in a very traditional style. However, this mess building must be constructed in a modern manner, which came with new difficulties which has been discussed in this portfolio.

Design Approach
we designed this building using a traditional concept after the first meeting with the client. we decided to give it a similar touch with more concise details, as shown below, keeping in mind that all of the other structures in this campus are more or less designed in old style. However, the client requested that we have to change our approach and give this building contemporary appearance. And finally after many attempts we cracked it and client accepted this proposal.

Final Proposed View
First proposed view
This project's planning required us to accommodate a large kitchen setup with chopping area, large kitchen store, change room, and buffet counter for 160 people, as well as toilet setup for a large gathering on ground floor. On the other hand, there is a pantry service and buffet counter with a toilet area and seating for 255 people on the first and second floors.
Floor plans 2.1 Planning
This building consists of a large atrium just over the entrance and two lifts, one stair case at the back for access for workers. Whereas two stairs has been provided in atrium area which has a direct access to first floor and so on.
On third floor accommodation with four large dormitory along with laundry and toilet setup has been provided for the staff .

Visualizing approach
We proceed to the visualizing stage of our project after finalizing the architectural plan and obtaining client approval. As can be seen in each of these three images, the client's proposal included a variety of design approaches at various stages of our discussion, which is part of the process of achieving client acceptance of the final design. First proposed view
Third Proposed view
The first view that was suggested was made in such a way that we had to give it an old-fashioned look with self-standing roman pillars in the front of the main structure to match the other buildings of the university. The second and third views, on the other hand, were created when the client requested a glass façade with additional ventilation and grandiosity and after many attempts we came across the idea which was accepted by the client shown on the first slide of this project.

Structure detail 2.3
Considering Raft Foundation
Selection criteria for foundation for buildings depend on two factors, i.e. factors related to ground (soil) conditions and factors related to loads from the structure.
As we can see the soil investigating report above, the subsoil is silt up to the investigating depth hence the construction of bored cast in situ u/r pile may not be appropriate.
The silt retain moisture and does not drain water easily. Reinforced concrete spread and isolated pad footings are appropriate if silt or silty clay is stiff and extends to a great depth. Therefore we choose shallow foundation which is raft.

BBS detailing
While BBS detailing encountered a significant issue, a 40-feett long critical beam. As the longest steel size is 40 feet where as we had to provide extra steel for continuous beam which is shown in shuttering plan. With the assistance of senior construction engineer and IS code we accompanied an answer which is displayed in the hand sketch beneath.

The work's progress and coordination are shown in these pictures taken on the spot. The building's structure and brickwork are clearly coordinated to the minute.
I believe that the architecture's detailing and the structure's detailing should be properly coordinated in order to get the shape we want.
Regardless, we always let our customers know that we prefer to communicate with drawings rather than words. You can still work on any project anywhere in the world as long as your map is accurate enough for work.
