LIFETIME MEMBER BIOGRAPHIES

Asa Baghurst began his journey with Making Light Productions began in 2019 with a stop-motion film class. He returned in 2020 for more film work, drum lessons, and an online theatre class, which led to his invitation to join the Mainstage musical theatre class. Since then, he has been a dedicated theatre student, expanding his training in acting, singing, and dancing.

Asa has played leading roles such as Buddy in Elf the Musical, Billy in 42nd Street, George Banks in Mary Poppins, Fred Casely in Chicago, and Oliver in Puffs. He volunteered at MLP summer camps, served as president and festival chair for Thespian Troupe 11452, and performed in numerous MLP showcases.

Beyond MLP, Asa performed in Leon High’s summer musical The Music Man, completed workshops at the Florida Theatre Conference and State Thespian Festival, and was the costume designer for When the Scythe Met the Stone, which premiered at the FSU Fringe Festival. His time with MLP has been formative, and he will pursue a degree in theatre arts.

Director of Theatre Taylor Petty had this to say about Asa: Asa Baghurst has always brought an incredible passion and focus to everything he does. His work as an actor is marked by depth and intensity, and he’s one of the most multitalented artists I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Asa approaches every project with a level of dedication and heart that’s truly inspiring. It’s been amazing watching him grow, and I’m excited to see where his next chapter takes him. I have no doubt that whatever he does, it will be fearless, creative, and full of heart.

Billy Broadfoot is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter who will be attending Tallahassee State College in the fall. Billy has been a theatre/voice/acting/dance student at Making Light Productions since the very first semester, and his favorite roles include Mary Sunshine in Chicago, the Unicorn in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Badger in The Wind in the Willows. He was awarded the Broadway Star at Access Broadway regionals multiple times for Best Actor and Best Vocalist in his age group. Studying dance with Ms. Cameron since elementary school, he discovered a passion for ballet. Through Ms. Briana’s mentorship, he has found his voice in songwriting. He wants to thank his friends at Making Light for always being there for him; “Aidan and Tessa, you were my first friends, and I know we will be there for each other until the end!” And finally, he wants to thank his family for always believing in him, understanding him, and making him feel like a star.
