Henry County Hosts the World’s Biggest Fish Fry

The Henry County Jaycees are hard at work planning the 73rd Annual World’s Biggest Fish Fry. Save the dates—April 18th through the 26th—and plan to be in Paris, Tennessee, along with a few thousand other folks, for all of the Fish Fry festivities. Anyone who has attended before can tell you there’s a whole lot more going on that week than just frying fish. Be there and find out what all the talk is about!

This one-of-a-kind event includes a Big Parade and a Little Parade, a rodeo, a fishing rodeo, a demolition derby, a street dance, a county dance, a carnival, a 5K run/walk, a Christian concert, catfish races, a car and bike show, arts and crafts, and, of course, a huge fish fry. The Splash Park is located at Eiffel Tower Park off Volunteer Drive in Paris, and everyone is welcome to make a big splash and have an amazing time.

The Splash Park opens Tuesday, April 21st, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be open daily. Admission will be free through Saturday, May 23rd, according to the Parks and Recreation website. As always, operations are weather permitting.

Admission will be $2 per person per day, with children under age 3 admitted free. Children age 8 and younger must be supervised by an adult at all times. These hours and rates will remain in effect through September 1st. Entry is free for those with a pool pass.

Visitors should note several rules: the park operates weather permitting; no

animals are allowed; children who are not potty-trained must wear swim diapers; and glass containers and water balloons are prohibited. Water wheelchairs are available. The Splash Park may also be reserved for parties and special events online or by phone at www.paristn. gov/splash-pad or (731) 641-1402.

The Eiffel Tower City Pool will open Saturday, May 23rd. The Water Fun Run Is a Unique Way to See Kentucky Lake

There is nothing better than spending a summer day boating on Kentucky Lake. The Paris/Henry County Chamber of Commerce’s Water Fun Run has grown into one of the biggest summer events at Paris Landing. What began with fewer than 30 participants now draws as many as 800. With the Tennessee River’s wide open waters, there is plenty of room for everyone—so mark your calendar for Saturday, July 18th, at the docks of Paris Landing State Park. Winning cash and prizes is one reason the Fun Run continues to grow, but spending a day on the water with family and friends is just as appealing. The event is designed to guide boaters to destinations along the shores of Henry and Stewart counties, offering plenty of opportunities to stop for food, fuel, and visits to local resorts.

Each year’s theme adds to the excitement. Past themes have included

“Cheeseburgers in Paris-dise,” “Redneck Yacht Club,” and “Gilligan’s Island.”

Costumes and decorated boats are encouraged, making the event as festive as it is fun.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, the Water Fun Run is a unique pokerstyle run on the water. Participants purchase a registration packet in advance from the Chamber of Commerce, which includes instructions, designated stops at area resorts, and a stamp sheet. At each stop, boaters collect stamps rather than cards.

During the allotted time, participants visit as many stops as possible. Upon returning to the Paris Landing State Park dock, they exchange stamps for playing cards. Each participant selects five cards to form a poker hand, and winners are announced at the end of each round with cash prizes awarded.

Registration packets cost $20 in advance at the Chamber office and $25 on the day of the event at Paris Landing

State Park or participating resorts. Commemorative T-shirts are also available and are considered collector’s items, often selling out quickly. The Chamber office is located at 2508 East Wood St. in Paris. For more information, call (731) 642-3431 or visit www.paristnchamber. com

The Water Fun Run is held annually on the third Saturday of July, with packets typically going on sale in early June. Make plans now to be part of this unique summer tradition on Kentucky Lake.

Bargain Hunters Know Benton County Is the Place to Be Labor Day Weekend

It is always fun to find a great bargain at a weekend yard sale—but imagine the deals along more than 30 miles of sales. Benton County’s Bargain Highway, an annual 30Mile Yard Sale, stretches from one end of the county to the other. Holladay, Camden, and Big Sandy are filled with sales, with many more set up along the roads between towns. Be sure to follow signs down side streets for more hidden treasures.

Traditionally held Friday and Saturday of Labor Day weekend, many families set up earlier and continue through the holiday Monday. The official hours for this year’s Bargain High-

way are dawn to dusk on Friday, September 4th, and Saturday, September 5th, 2026.

Shoppers can pick up a map of local yard sales from participating vendors or the Benton County Chamber of Commerce. The route runs from Holladay along Highway 641 through Camden to Highway 69 toward Big Sandy. Designated stops along the way will offer registration for a large Chamber-sponsored cash giveaway.

You never know what you might find—gently used household items, furniture, handmade crafts, antiques, tools, and plenty of delicious food. Some vendors even offer new merchandise. In past years, automobiles, boats, and even homes have changed hands

during the event.

Visitors traveling from out of town are encouraged to book accommodations early. Camden offers a variety of national restaurant chains as well as locally owned eateries featuring homestyle cooking.

While in the area, visitors can explore local attractions such as the Patsy Cline Memorial Site, nearby state park trails leading to Pilot Knob—the highest point in West Tennessee—and the Tennessee River Folklife Museum.

The Bargain Highway may bring you to Benton County, but the small-town charm will keep you coming back. For more informa-
