Worldwide Tikkun Haklali – Psalms Revealed by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov Bringing Jews Together Edited by: JV Staff

n 11 Kislev 5776, November 22, 2015, more than one million people from over 150 countries logged in online to participate in a history-making worldwide prayer gathering. They joined thousands of people live at the Kosel Hamaravi in Yerushalayim in the first-ever, global recitation of Tikkun Haklali, the set of ten Psalms revealed by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. Tikkun Haklali is a compilation of ten perakim of tehillim that represent ten different types of song. Rabbi Nachman, who was a great grandson of the Ba’al Shem Tov, taught his followers that reciting these ten Perakim acts as a ‘tikun’, a remedy which would help in the process of teshuva and lead to an awareness of the Divine presence in the world. He revealed the ten perakim to two of his closest Chassidim, Rabbi Aharon and Rabbi Naftali. Tikkun Haklali is known for its ability to heal, protect, and bring us closer to G-d. In fact, tens of thousands of Jews from every background gather each Rosh Hashanah at Rebbe Nachman’s gravesite in Uman, Ukraine especially to say this powerful prayer. They come to plead for blessings and salvation for themselves, their families, and the Jewish people.

Now that the current dangers to the Jewish people — spiritual, physical, and even political — are greater than ever, Mr. Assoulin believes we must storm the gates of Heaven with our tefillot. That’s why he, other askanim, and the great rabbonim involved in the first Tikkun Haklali Olami are busy planning the second one. Reciting Tikkun Haklali daily has become common practice for Breslover chassidim, and for others as well. There

But Rabbi Rosenfeld inspired his young disciple David and after a long period of many prayers and effort, they managed to go to Uman multiple times despite all the challenges.

are many who claim they’ve experienced special blessings through the reciting of the tikun and in fact there are accounts recorded of the protection that the tikun has given. According to Rabbi Nasan Maimon, Executive Director of the Breslov World Center “Literally, the word tikun means “repair” and Klali means “general” or “everything”. So Tikkun Haklali then, in simple terms, is a general repair for everything. Reciting the ten kapitlach of Tehillim in Tikkun Haklali can act as a catalyst to fix or repair our spiritual mistakes.” Rabbi Chaim Kramer, Director of the Breslov Research Institute, worldwide publishing and educational organization and author of numerous Breslov books explains: “…in the spiritual realm, a major or minor transgression can be rectified by going back to the source of the law or mitzvah and invoking the energy to “pump” the rectification necessary out of The grave of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, who the extremities of one’s behavior. David is devoted to enhancing the Uman experience for the many travelers who visit. He’s been a leading force behind rebuilding the Kloyz, the large synagogue erected near the burial site of Rebbe Nachman in Uman. Both the Kloyz and the tziyun of Rebbe Nachman are now officially registered in his name with the Russian government. Today, David Assoulin still has that fiery charisma and unwavering dedication to Rebbe Nachman’s teachings and those of his personal rav, Rabbi Shalom Arush shlita. Once again, he is taking the initiative and is spearheading the Tikkun Haklali Olami project. It promises to be a life-changing and world-changing event. According to Rabbi Eliyahu Cohen, Director of Tikkun Haklali Olami, “Our goal is to help actualize David Assoulin’s dream to bring all Yidden together through tefillah.” Bobby Rosenberg, coordinator at Tikkun Haklali Olami, says, “We are living in a tumultuous world. Things are changing drastically, both politically and physically. Clearly, it’s the times of Mashiach. Tikkun Haklali can be a transformative experience. It can do a lot for Am Yisrael. If we get everybody to say it together, it can have tremendous koach. Last year we said Tikkun Haklali together and many thousands joined us from all over the world. It

Around the world, hundreds of thousands were saying it with us online — even people in Iran, even nonJews. Rav Shalom Arush spoke at the event, Rav Yaakov Ades led a tefillah and ChazanYechiel Nahari recited the tikun. There are hundreds of accounts of people who were helped by Tikkun Haklali and who were protected by it.” The event was powerful and meaningful. So much so that the organizers have decided to duplicate the experience again.
