Worldwide Tikkun Haklali – Psalms Revealed by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov Bringing Jews Together Edited by: JV Staff

n 11 Kislev 5776, November 22, 2015, more than one million people from over 150 countries logged in online to participate in a history-making worldwide prayer gathering. They joined thousands of people live at the Kosel Hamaravi in Yerushalayim in the first-ever, global recitation of Tikkun Haklali, the set of ten Psalms revealed by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. Tikkun Haklali is a compilation of ten perakim of tehillim that represent ten different types of song. Rabbi Nachman, who was a great grandson of the Ba’al Shem Tov, taught his followers that reciting these ten Perakim acts as a ‘tikun’, a remedy which would help in the process of teshuva and lead to an awareness of the Divine presence in the world. He revealed the ten perakim to two of his closest Chassidim, Rabbi Aharon and Rabbi Naftali. Tikkun Haklali is known for its ability to heal, protect, and bring us closer to G-d. In fact, tens of thousands of Jews from every background gather each Rosh Hashanah at Rebbe Nachman’s gravesite in Uman, Ukraine especially to say this powerful prayer. They come to plead for blessings and salvation for themselves, their families, and the Jewish people.

There are hundreds of accounts of people who were helped by Tikkun Haklali and who were protected by it.” The event was powerful and meaningful. The Women’s Halachic Hotline, staffed by Yoatzot Halacha – women halachic consultants – educated at Nishmat, The Jeanie Schottenstein Center for Advanced Torah Study for Women in Jerusalem, is supervised by rabbinic scholars Rabbi Yaakov Varhaftig and Rabbi Yehuda Herzl Henkin in Jerusalem and
Rabbi Kenneth Auman in New York. Nishmat’s Yoatzot Halacha provide observant women the chance to address questions about taharat hamishpachah (an area of Jewish Law relating to marriage, sexuality and women’s health) to women whose Torah scholarship and professional training prepared them to listen and respond to the concerns of each individual woman.
