Fumba Town is the first sustainable city master plan in Zanzibar, Tanzania A modern, spacious, secure and cosmopolitan lifestyle on a tropical island. During my role at CPS Studio, I assisted with Fumba establishing its first commercial centre. Strategically integrated commercial spaces, from retail and hospitality services to office spaces and supermarkets.
PROFESSIONAL PROJECT
The design blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Soft earthy tones were implemented and wide windows to create an inviting space.
The pavilion commercial centre integrated many sustainable elements with one being timber frame facade perfectly positioned to shelter from direct sunlight at the right time of day and at the right time of year.

The green community is an academic project based on a new wave of peri-urbanism and rural development, allowing a more sustainably distributed density of people across the planet’s surface giving a chance to the less fortune, refuges. This distribution would ease the burden on municipal and national governments who are currently buckling under the pressure of their overpopulated area in Tempelhof, Berlin.

The new management plan is expected to become the guiding document for all future development and conservation interventions in Stone Town. This research I assisted in intends to preserve and revitalize the Outstanding Universal Values of Stone Town, by providing technical and practical guidance for the management and conservation of cultural heritage (monuments, buildings, public space, and other assets) in Stone Town and its surrounding areas. The prepared guidelines and action plans intend to assist Stone Town in improving its climate resilience and mitigate risks related to climate change and natural disasters with the ongoing urban expansion.
PROFESSIONAL PROJECT
The exclusive villa effortlessly blends into the landscape, enclosing the outdoor common areas while framing the general view towards the exterior. The client intended for the architecture to be composed of natural materials with large sliding doors as soft transitions opening up to the garden and pool. The generous roof structure covers the indoor and outdoor spaces from rain and sun, allowing this special feeling of being around nature in a protected and comfortable manner. This project is a conceptual idea of what the client wants and is currently an ongoing project in Michamvi, Zanzibar, Tanzania.
FREELANCE PROJECT
1. The unit is for rental purposes.
2. Kitchen, dining and living space to be openly connected.
3. Blend of Zanzibar architecture with western modern style.
4. Integrating long lasting durable design.
5. Display space for art collection.
During this project, I selected bespoke pieces of natural wood tones. I designed the living space with a designated shelf for my client to display their unique art work.
A mixture of hanging pendant and wall pendant was designed to work with the limited space without overcrowding. The wall light fixtures functioning as a unique art wall and enhancing warm light to the room.

This project was to design a cafeteria for a confidential company. The space is adorned by a slight lush greenery and light toned furniture, infusing a refreshing ambience. The cafteria is a vast space catering for guests to enjoy and lounge. A cafe and restautant seating placed across the cafeteria for many to relax and view flat screen televesions placed across the cafeteria. By Studying the existing measures taken by various members and organization to advocate for other ethnic communities to develop social, cultural, and economic interdependencies, this paper will attempt to provide an action plan for fiscal opportunities and an inclusive design vision to reimagine Hogan’s Alley as a destination for the former, existing, and future black generation in Vancouver. Minorities have established a sense of belonging through various resources. Many communities substantially grew over the years and manifested upward mobility through businesses, community centers, the establishment of faith, and political involvement.
ACADEMIC PROJECT
Interviewing Black entrepreneurs and understanding the way they sustain their livelihood is significantly important towards constructing the future black neighbourhood and building healthy identities with race. For this portion of the paper, fieldwork was achieved by traveling around the cities and directly interviewing participants in places of their businesses. This method selection of qualitative research through descriptions and interpretation of interviews was beneficial to comprehend and examine the aspirations, concerns, and values of black entrepreneurs in Vancouver.
The first participant is a restaurant owner who has been running his business for over 25 years. He had a decades-long career as a project manager for a construction firm in Kenya. Unfortunately, upon arriving in Canada, he could not find work in his field and pursued opening a restaurant solely out of his passion for cooking.
The first design policy recommendation is micro retailing. Shapeshifting spaces into various innovative downsized retail activities will levitate the barriers of being a black entrepreneur and accommodate a wide selection of business opportunities. The micro-retail scheme will be consistent spaces of approximately 20sqm. The illustration below shows the spatial configuration of the shops. As seen, the storefronts are aligned with some offsetting, creating ‘pocket spaces’ to prevail the experience of spatial activities instated in the Hogans Alley development workshop.

The baraza is a spiritually moving urban feature, both a symbol of the Swahili architecture and its unifying culture. A simple seating feature attached to street facing facades , acting as a barrier breaker by abolishing physical and social divides. The Baraza is an everyday safe space that brings people together. ting effects in elevating and unifying our communities. I found this charity because I strongly believe that buildings or structures are more than objects. Shelter can give hope and can be the greatest expression of care and love. Therefore, here in the Baraza Foundation, we aim to help those in need by building meaningful spaces that have long lasting effects in elevating and unifying our communities.
