Four years ago, the company chose to base its headquarters in Luxembourg, mainly because of the outstanding living and working environment that the country provides.

ocler Holding has been based in Luxembourg since 2010. Gyorgy Gattyan, the eccentric entrepreneur who heads this company which specialises in online entertainment and media, came to the conclusion that Luxembourg would provide a conducive environment, both for his employees and for him to think about his own future. “We have developed a video streaming and sharing technology,” he says. “We now want to propagate this technology in various sectors of activity.” Docler Holding is getting there, little by little. Its technology is nowadays most extensively used in the field of adult entertainment, on the Jasmin portal for instance. “We have tested our solutions in several sectors, and to date they have been used on a massive scale with this type of content, enabling us to generate a significant income. However, our core activity has nothing to do with adult entertainment. We are focusing our efforts on the technology proper,” says Gyorgy Gattyan. “We are exploring other promising segments, with the intention of becoming a mass-market medium. Eventually, who knows, our technology may also be adopted by fans of cookery programmes, fans of online video games and players in the field of finance.”

Between Germany and France The founder and owner of Docler Holding is a go-getter, but he also knows that in order to reach your goals, you have to show patience, try many different projects, assess them, take many paths, succeed in some, abandon others, and start again. “Nowadays, although we are

based in Luxembourg, a major part of our team is still located in Hungary, where it all began, and we have a branch in Los Angeles,” says Gattyan. Surprisingly, he chose to base his business in Luxembourg for reasons unconnected with tax savings: “I first spent two years in Paris, but I never got used to the mentality of France’s capital. Although I like the innate taste for aesthetics which is prevalent in France, I also like the self-discipline and reliability of Germany. What better place than Luxembourg to reconcile the two cultures?” says Gattyan. But wasn’t there a genuine economic incentive for relocating to Luxembourg?
Entrepreneurship is creation “If I consider the costs that I incur, in terms of taxes and wages, I reckon I would have been better off remaining in Hungary. However, to access the markets of Western Europe, to develop partnerships with Western European players, we needed to be based in this part of the Continent,” he says. Nowadays, Docler Holding employs one thousand people worldwide. In Luxembourg,
where the company is based, it employs 200 people, and manages a portfolio of companies. Some of them are active in IT-related fields. Others are involved in audiovisual production, intellectual property management and investment in start-ups. “We have developed an ecosystem of companies which enables us to be autonomous and independent but also to continue to diversify our activities,” says Gyorgy Gattyan. In this environment, he can give free rein to his many ideas. “Entrepreneurship is above all about creativity. I like the idea of being able to bring into being something that has not existed until then.” He tends to focus his efforts on developing projects. “I’m not at all interested in the maintenance and management of operational services. Once things become routine, I prefer to entrust them to my employees and to move on to other projects.” The founder of Docler is full of ideas. His latest: “To develop a video application that will be a cross between Tinder, a dating service, and Snapchat, another social media service which young people are fond of,” says Gattyan.
