GIFT PLANNING

Dennis and Anna May Manning raised their seven children in Bristol. They were involved in all of the sports each child played, especially the sport of swimming. They often participated as timekeepers at swim meets, coordinated award banquets and lent a hand wherever help was needed. Additionally, Anna May served as a middle school swim team coach in Bristol. Mary was the oldest of the seven Manning siblings and an accomplished swimmer. She worked as a lifeguard at the Marriott in Farmington and the Dennis Malone Aquatic Center in Mary Sisson 2017 Bristol, and she served as a swim team coach for the recreational team in Plainville. She was often seen performing her expert duties as a Connecticut Swim Team Official at high school swim meets. Through this fund, the family hopes to promote compassion, kindness and build the character of young individuals through the sport of swimming in the same manner it fulfilled their lives.

C. Henry Ozga Memorial Scholarship Fund

Chester “Chet” Henry Ozga, a longtime resident of Wolcott who was born C. Henry Ozga and raised in Terryville and attended Terryville High School, lived his life quietly. He was married to his wife Darlene for over 20 years before she passed away in 1999, and prior to his retirement he was employed by White Oak Corp. as a truck driver. Chet had a giving heart, and one way he chose to give back to his community is one of the simplest yet one of the most important – he left a bequest in his will to Main Street Community Foundation. Upon his death in 2020 at the age of 76, he left the remainder of his estate to establish the C. Henry Ozga Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is available to a graduating senior of Terryville High School with financial need and it is renewable for up to four years.
