Warkworth all aboard A new public transport service will be up and running in the Warkworth area this summer. The pilot on-demand bus service is the first of its kind in NZ and if successful, other regional centres could soon follow suit. The scheduled hourly service will run between Snells Beach and Warkworth, and Matakana and Warkworth, with additional services during peak times. Time has also been built into the timetable to do prebooked pick-ups from the wider catchment including Omaha, Leigh, Point Wells, Algies Bay and Sandspit. A ticket costs between $3 and $4, with slightly higher fares from outlying villages. The timetable is available at www.kowhai.org.nz or from the Warkworth i-SITE and local libraries.
