“Ask not what your country can do for you“ - ask what YOU can do for your Village, Country and the World...
...

Over 40 years ago, my father, Mahadeosing Dhunnoo, entrusted me with two acres of land in my birthplace, Creve Coeur, asking only that I never sell it. As a child, I grew up surrounded by majestic mountains and waterfalls, inspired by the resilience of the villagers who toiled in the fields yet preserved their Sanatan Vedic traditions. I remember evenings spent at Ramayana sessions by oil lamps and my father driving sugarcane trucks late into the night — always guided by his strong principles and devotion.
Years later, while revisiting old family albums, I found a photograph of my father laying the first stone of La Caverne Vacoas Temple, rebuilt after Cyclone Carole. That moment rekindled my inspiration. His example of faith, service, and dedication sowed the seed of creating a spiritual park — a place of worship, reflection, and serenity where nature and heritage meet.
By the grace of Lord Krishna, and with the support of spiritually minded well-wishers and leaders, the vision of Mahadeo Spiritual Park began to take shape. This project aspires to revive and share our timeless Vedic heritage, uniting generations in devotion, harmony, and pride.

Located at the heart of Creve Coeur, Mahadeo Spiritual Park is more than just a sacred destination — it is a pilgrimage of tranquility and connection. The site’s proximity to the Terre Rouge–Verdun Link Road means effortless access for devotees and visitors coming from all regions of Mauritius.

The presence of nearby bus stops ensures inclusivity for those without private transport, and a parking zone for over 300 vehicles will accommodate large crowds during festivals and weddings.
The site is uniquely blessed by nature — with two flowing rivers and lush riverbank reserves full of native trees, the atmosphere is rich with serenity and the essence of sacred land. The panoramic view of Pieter Both Mountain lends an ethereal backdrop, reminding worshippers of the higher path, the eternal mountain of truth, and Lord Shiva’s divine presence.

Nestled amidst the pristine natural beauty of Creve Coeur, Mahadeo Spiritual Park rises as a beacon of Hindu devotion and cultural renaissance. Overlooking the sacred silhouette of Pieter Both Mountain and bordered by the gentle flow of two rivers, this spiritual sanctuary is being designed to honor Lord Shiva — Mahadeo, the eternal source of transformation and inner power.

Designed in a luminous modern Dravidian style, the Mahadeo Temple stands as the spiritual heart of the park. The use of full-height glazing ensures a flood of natural light, symbolising divine enlightenment and purity. As a sanctuary dedicated to Lord Shiva, it will embody the union of architectural heritage with contemporary minimalism, offering a sublime space for meditation, prayer, and ritual connection.
A multipurpose hall is designed to complement the temple for increased seating during religious festivals. It is centrally aligned and gives views onto the temple.

This multifunctional hall is inspired by the concept of ‘Vivaha Mandap’ — the sacred site of union. Capable of seating 200 guests, it will accommodate Indian weddings rich in cultural rituals. Outside ceremonial use, it will serve as a vibrant space for banquets, seminars, religious conferences, exhibitions, and library readings. Its architectural design promotes natural ventilation and flexibility, turning it into a true community pillar.
To make the park economically sustainable and spiritually enriching, three curated retail spaces will be provided:
It will showcase traditional and contemporary attire that reflects the elegance of Indian culture. From sarees and kurtas to festive garments, it will allow devotees and visitors to connect with their heritage while supporting local artisans. This outlet will not only serve as a shopping destination but also as a cultural bridge, enriching the spiritual journey with attire fit for prayer, weddings, and sacred festivals.
Rooted in the ancient science of Ayurveda, the wellness centre will provide holistic treatments, herbal remedies, and guidance for balanced living. Visitors will be able to rejuvenate body, mind, and spirit in harmony with the sacred environment of the park. This centre will add immense value by extending the park’s role beyond worship — positioning it as a destination of healing, wellbeing, and inner peace.
It will offer all sacred items needed for worship, from incense and lamps to offerings and symbolic artefacts. Conveniently located within the park, it ensures that devotees have access to authentic, high-quality items for rituals and ceremonies. More than just a store, it will uphold tradition and support the devotional practices that are at the heart of the Mahadeo Spiritual Park.

Blending traditional Indian design with modern standards, the restrooms use intricately patterned Jali or claustra blocks for natural ventilation and privacy. They are fully inclusive, with dedicated sections for men, women, and persons with disabilities. Hygiene, dignity, and comfort are prioritized for every visitor.
The project proposal also involves 2 floors of thoughtfully planned accommodation that will house up to six families or individuals. Designed for guests involved in weddings, resident priests, and senior citizens seeking spiritual retreat, each unit combines privacy with proximity to the sacred heart of the park. Modern yet modest, the apartments reflect simplicity, peace, and community living. Appartment sizes vary from studios to two bedroom units.

Beyond their physical comfort, the apartments will provide a deeper value — an environment that nurtures peace, mindfulness, and a sense of belonging. Residents will enjoy easy access to the temple, meditation areas, wellness facilities, and cultural events, fostering a holistic way of life. Perfect for families, retirees, or seekers of spiritual harmony, these apartments are not just a home but an opportunity to live amidst heritage, devotion, and nature’s embrace.
Our land carries within it the footsteps and stories of those who came before us. Here, we wish to honour their memory through living, interactive features that reflect the simple yet profound beauty of village life. The resilience of labourers ploughing the fields, the strength of oxen pulling carts along winding paths, the grace of women balancing pots of water by the river while holding their children close, and the innocence of children walking barefoot to school — all tell a story of perseverance, sacrifice, and love.
Under the shade of trees, pandits once gathered to recite and teach the Ramayana, passing on timeless wisdom that still guides us today. These moments will be brought to life within the park, not as distant memories, but as experiences to be shared, reminding us of our roots, our struggles, and the values that shaped our community. It is a space to reflect, to feel, and to remember — so that the legacy of our forebears continues to inspire generations to come.

Our vision is encapsulated in this motto and tagline — a reflection of our spiritual path rooted in timeless values and an unwavering dedication to the upliftment of society. Through Mahadeo Spiritual Park, we hope to awaken a living tradition where ancient knowledge meets modern lives, where every heart finds meaning in the light of Dharma.

On earth once tilled with dreams betrayed, by hands that bore both prayer and pain, where gold was promised beneath the stone, but only blood and sweat came...
The mountain watched, ancient and still, as sons of Bharat carved their fate, Girmit, forgotten, unnamed and numbered by ink, but etched in every breath this island takes...
MURIYA PAHAR BOL THA: AUM NAMAH SHIVAYA
The hill speaks, its breath a prayer, A call that echoes through the air, Where once no shrine, now bells shall ring, And every stone begins to sing...
