OVERPASS a stunning Corumbene graduate at $75K has now won over $4.5million.

Corumbene Stud’s reputation for producing precocious, Gr1 winning juveniles remains unchallenged; think of Golden Slipper winners like Overreach and Sebring and Blue Diamond Stakes winner True Jewels. But the recent deeds of Overpass have reminded the market there is both value and longevity to be found in the farm’s boutique Gold Coast draft.

Buyers will have to be patient and keep their powder dry awaiting the arrival of the first Corumbene offering which won’t sell until the Friday. Offered as Lot 774, this son of Deep Field out of the Tale Of The Cat mare Icedginger looks tailor-made for the Asian market as a strong half-brother to the Listed Fireball Stakes winner Samantha.

The talent of Amelia’s Jewel is unquestioned and on her home soil she had previously only been beaten once, yet the Corumbene bred Overpass was able to outrun her and rivals like Group 1 performers Bella Nipotina, Asfoora and Uncommon James, with a brilliant display of sustained speed to win the inaugural The Quokka. A $75,000 purchase, Overpass has now won $4.8 million, a more than reasonable return on investment by Darby Racing. The potential for another massive payday for the wider market lies in the stud’s outstanding 2024 Magic Millions draft.

Corumbene’s Farm Manager Zoe Wilson gave us the lowdown on each of their seven strong draft beginning with this colt of which she said “He’s a lovely type with a great walk and attitude, this mare always seems to produce very nice types. He’s definitely a colt that will appeal to the Hong Kong market.”

\ CORUMBENE STUD \ GLEN LATHAM

The first Corumbene filly on offer hails from the same family, her grandam Loveday another half-sister to True Jewels this time by Danzero. This lady will go through as Lot 867 and is by first season sire Ole Kirk, the brilliant winner of both the Gr1 Golden Rose and Caulfield Guineas,
