any events, conferences and exhibitions were held this year to remember the 100 years since the death of Sant’Elia. Also the Lions Clubs International joined the initiative with an evocative commendation: the attention towards the weak social categories, including young generations that get close to the working life. It was created an award to honor the architect born in Como. The notice, organized to celebrate 100 years anniversary of Lions Clubs International, called “Antonio Sant’Elia” stresses the attention to culture, further prerogative of Lions, considering that the association in the 1st constituency has the granddaughter Anna Sant’Elia as one of its members. cultural events, it was held a meeting to give the prize to the graduate thesis of Renato Costa entitled “Antonio Sant’Elia: dalla stazione Centrale alla stazione multimodale”. The event was held in the place where the sketches of the architect are preserved, representing a priceless value that the world inherited, creating a suggestive atmosphere. The art critic Alberto Longatti, the President of the Order of Architects of Como and the thesis advisor Alessandra Coppa took part in the event. In the introduction to the work, the professor of Politecnico stressed the line followed to analyze some aspects of Sant’Elia work. The studies carried on shown the architect not as a visionary person, but as a representative of his time with a practical idea

of the future of the cities. It is a representation that comes from an analysis of the context in which the personality of Sant’Elia grew, linked to the collateral events developed in the city of Milan, such as the Universal Exhibition in 1906, the technological revolution of infrastructures, the innovative architectural and artistic spirit in Europe. The students of Politecnico who worked on the project of professor Coppa had the same age of Sant’Elia and they considered him not an architect of the past but a contemporary architect, so they could identify with his work. In the graduate thesis Renato Costa focused on sketches of the train station of Milan that Sant’Elia prepared to take part to a contest in 1912, those sketches were never delivered.
