The HISTORY of a CHAMPION Memorial Room Clay Regazzoni A place where the myth of a great pilot is celebrated. This is the purpose of the “Memorial Room Clay Regazzoni”, inaugurated on 5th September in Lugano. A homage wanted and realized by the family of the Swiss champion who, besides the extraordinary sports results that everybody who loves cars remember of, is also famous for the battles he undertook in order to sensitize the public opinion on the paraplegia. Clay Regazzoni,
forced on a wheelchair since 1980 after a terrible accident, dedicated himself to introduce disabled persons in life and in sport, thanks also to the association he founded. The project “Memorial Room” was born to give continuity to the project of help and support, that was really important for him. It is a nonprofit initiative which supports research and development in paraplegia through the “Foundation IRP” (internatio-
nal research on paraplegia) and the “Club Clay Regazzoni Aiutiamo la paraplegia” (Club Clay Regazzoni let’s help the paraplegia). «We set this room of memories to go back to the life of Clay and to remember the champion, but above all the man who believed in the demolition of the architectural barriers devoting his commitment to free young people and older people from their handicap».
