Magdalene College | The Final Campaign Report

Page 1

We celebrated with the official opening of the New Library by HRH The Duke of Gloucester and a garden party attended by over four hundred Members of the College, who contributed to the Campaign, and their guests. Happily, the weather was kind to us with neither rain nor the forty degree heat wave experienced later in the summer.

By any standard, the Campaign has been a remarkable success. With a target of raising twenty-five million pounds, the Campaign actually raised almost thirty million and would almost certainly have gone even higher had COVID-19 not closed down all in person activities for much of the last eighteen months. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all those who have contributed. It is a matter of great pride that, with 37% of our alumni having contributed to the Campaign, Magdalene has one of the highest participation rates of any College in Oxford or Cambridge. Thanks – and congratulations – are also due to the members of the Campaign Board, my predecessors, and to our Development Director, Mrs Corinne Lloyd, and her excellent team, whose tireless work made this success possible.

The most visible legacy of the Campaign is, of course, the New Library. One of the most outstanding pieces of modern architecture anywhere in Cambridge, it was

awarded the Stirling Prize by RIBA in October 2022 and has attracted rave reviews both from the press and, even more importantly, from our students. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank the architect, Mr Níall McLaughlin, and his colleagues for their superb design, as well as everyone on the College side whose successful management of the project contributed so much – Professor Tom Spencer, Mr Steven Morris and the Board of Cloverleaf Limited, and our librarians led by Dr Marcus Waithe and Dr Jane Hughes.

The library is not, however, by any means the only achievement of the Campaign. We also raised funds which enable us to provide more bursaries, two new full scholarships for overseas students, and offer yet more assistance to students suffering hardship exacerbated by the pandemic and the current economic challenges. In addition, donations for College teaching posts in History, Law and Philosophy have strengthened our teaching provision.

Thanks to all who contributed and made the Campaign such a success, Magdalene goes forward towards the six hundredth anniversary of its original foundation in 1428 in a stronger position than we have ever occupied.

COLLEGE FINANCES AND INVESTMENTS

Cambridge Colleges have a range of income sources. Whilst this can add complexity it provides a natural diversification hedge.

The principal income streams include tuition fees charged for education (a sharing agreement is in place between the Colleges and the University), donations and bequests from Members and Friends, charges for accommodation and catering from students and Fellows, revenue from commercial conferences, and investment income from the accumulated endowment.

Although a Cambridge education is delivered across both the College and the University, the bulk of the expenditure is focused on the teaching in College, financial awards to students, and operational costs. Typically, around 45% of costs are expended on teaching, research, scholarships and student awards, with a similar amount spent on the College buildings and on delivering catering for resident Members as well as the support needed for commercial conferences.

College net assets (its balance sheet) are characterised by its two large distinct assets, the first being the

value of the operational buildings used by the resident community, and the second being the size of our endowment, the income of which is used to support the College’s charitable mission.

We have seen contrasting fortunes in the College’s finances over the fiveyear course of the Future Foundations Campaign. The COVID-19 pandemic, and more recently war in Europe alongside record inflationary pressures, impacted finances following an earlier period of a more benign external environment. It’s also important to appreciate that a significant part of the College’s income and its assets are restricted in their nature, meaning they can only be used for specified purposes and cannot be redeployed for more general needs.

Income from tuition fees and research awards has been stable over the course of the Campaign and not impacted by the pandemic. By contrast, income from rents and catering has just now in June 2022

College income over the course of the Campaign (period to 30 June each year)

reached the same level as it was in 2018. The chill of the pandemic means more time will be needed to regain the level of conference revenues. Investment income, and in particular the College’s real commercial property portfolio, was also hurt by the pandemic. Donation income has been strong with large capital donations for the New Library, new College teaching posts and postgraduate scholarships having been received thanks to the generosity of our global Magdalene community.

The College has prioritised expenditure on teaching, student support and research despite the drop of income during the pandemic and helped by additional income raised from the Emergency Fund in spring 2020. Expenditure on this core area was £4.6m in June 2018 but rose to £5m by June 2022 and investment in teaching has increased from £1.75m to £2.2m. This has been possible due to the success of the Campaign to support students and the College during the height of the pandemic.

“The College has prioritised expenditure on teaching, student support and research despite the drop of income during the pandemic and helped by additional income raised from the Emergency Fund in spring 2020.”

As well as the need to hold working capital to meet cash flow requirements, the College’s balance sheet is dominated by its endowment and its operational estate. Our historic estate requires a significant financial commitment to maintain the buildings. Our endowment consists of two principal portfolios, one being the commercial property largely located near to the College and the other global securities.

A generation ago the College’s endowment was largely its direct

property assets with only a modest amount of funds in securities. The Cambridge property’s rental income has served the College well over the past few decades and it also acts as a strategic asset given its proximity to the heart of the College. It did however endure a difficult pandemic period given the nature of its commercial tenants – office, retail and restaurants. It is on the road to recovery although the present cost of living crisis is again likely to lead to a significant impact on current and future rent levels. The securities

portfolio has done well over the course of the Campaign, despite COVID-19 and the more recent inflationary bumps in the road it has grown in relative size. There is a longterm aim for the securities portfolio to represent about two-thirds of the endowment given its global investment reach and greater liquidity.

A FINAL FAREWELL TO THE CAMPAIGN

In May 2017, I wrote in Magdalene Matters about how “the past few months…passed in a blur of activity as we launched the College’s new capital Campaign, Future Foundations, in London, Hong Kong and New York… and ran the most successful telethon to date”.

Istill remember the excitement we felt that spring when finally, after years of planning and three years after having appointed the architects for the New Library, we launched our most ambitious fundraising campaign in living memory. We presented our case and asked you to help us raise £25 million in support of our ongoing commitment to academic excellence and needs blind admission. Over the years we continued to share our belief that by offering the best possible facilities and securing the supervision system we would help our students to reach their full potential during their time at Magdalene. We outlined the vision for the new College library which included a much increased book stock, state-of-the-art IT provision and several beautifully light and spacious reading halls as well as an art gallery and purpose built archives which we believed would greatly enhance the College’s

estate. The library was the heart of the Campaign but a commitment to expanding the College’s already successful bursary scheme for eligible undergraduate students and being able to offer additional support for postgraduate students together continued to be a prime concern. Indeed, it became a real focus when the effects of the pandemic hit the College community hard. Our Membership responded generously in numbers far greater than envisaged and it is fair to say that your magnificent response continued to surprise us again and again, particularly when we launched the Emergency Fund in May 2020.

The Campaign closed this summer after five years having reached a final total of just under £30 million, almost £5 million over our target despite all the challenges along the way. £1m £2m £3m

We were humbled by the generous response, particularly the number of donors which was a wonderful surprise and a delight, as it means that 37% of Members we are in touch with have supported the Campaign! This is a fantastic testament to the loyalty of our global community, and again shows the breath of support we received from Members spanning a century of matriculation years with the oldest donor having come up to Magdalene in the 1920’s!

The RIBA prize-winning New Library stands as a reminder of the unfailing loyalty of our Membership and of the success of this Campaign. The number of students who have benefited from bursaries, scholarships, hardship grants, much improved facilities and additional teaching as well as emotional and pastoral support are a further testament to your ongoing support. We truly couldn’t have done it without you, and we are deeply grateful for your trust and unwavering generosity, thank you.

THE FUTURE FOUNDATIONS CAMPAIGN

View from the Tutors

Despite the unparalleled changes in the world over the past five years since the launch of the Future Foundations Campaign in 2017, the funding secured thanks to this successful endeavour has enabled both undergraduate and postgraduate students at Magdalene to continue pursuing their studies and to flourish during their time in Cambridge.

The lives of our students have been enriched through the generosity of our many donors all over the world in a myriad of ways.

The success of Magdalene’s widening access and participation programmes has meant that the College now welcomes students from many different backgrounds, including those who are the first generation of their families to enter tertiary education, as well as students from minority groups. Introduced in 2012 to augment the Cambridge Bursary Scheme, the Magdalene Bursary Scheme ensures that every undergraduate, whatever their financial circumstances, is not only able to meet their daily living costs but can also participate fully in the collegiate Cambridge experience.

Academically, these bursaries enable students to purchase much-needed essential equipment such as laptops for taking notes, books for specific courses and materials for completing research projects, as well as enrolling on training courses and covering travel expenses for field trips. It is important for the mental and physical wellbeing of students to engage in extracurricular activities, and bursaries allow students to thrive by giving them the opportunity to subscribe to university societies, try out new sports and participate in social events. Students who have had to take parttime jobs from a young age can now

enjoy and embrace university life without financial worries.

During the pandemic, the Student Hardship Fund played a vital role in assisting students who have suddenly experienced dramatic changes in their economic circumstances. Students who live with vulnerable family members had to remain in College accommodation much longer than usual thus incurring higher costs. Magdalene also funded counselling services for those experiencing mental health issues which were exacerbated by repeated lockdowns, as well as meeting the rising costs for special learning difficulty assessments undertaken by students.

Support for postgraduate students involved the addition of new studentships and scholarships for

those pursuing both Master’s and doctoral studies. Philanthropic funding also covered the additional maintenance costs for PhD students who required extra time to complete their theses after their research funding had ended.

And last but certainly not least, our magnificent New Library, winner of the 26th RIBA Stirling Prize, has gifted all our students a light-filled building with a choice of study spaces for independent study and group work. This has fulfilled the Campaign’s aim to provide the best possible facilities and support for our students to reach their full potential whilst at Cambridge.

THE NEW LIBRARY – IMPACT ON STUDENTS

Magdalene’s New Library is the envy of collegiate Cambridge, but it also offers something specific to this place: a view of rooftops and river from angles not previously witnessed, and a corresponding sense of the College as a more expansive and confident place to be.

This uplifting effect was especially marked in the early months of opening, when students were let into the building after their long period of solitary study under the COVID-19 lockdowns. A particularly heartening report arrived last summer from a graduating student who wrote that ‘Studying with my friends in the library is without question the most precious memory of the past three years’. When we planned the building, we could not have predicted the events of 2019–21, but it was a happy coincidence that this new facility ended up supporting students who had missed out on many aspects of the usual Cambridge experience.

Each year our Deputy College Librarian surveys library users to identify areas of strength and weakness. In answer to the question ‘What is the best thing about the New Library?’ we received many enthusiastic responses. We wanted to create an environment that would answer different preferences, and so we were delighted to read that ‘I love that there are many options for seating, and that a lot of these feel out of the way and somewhat secluded’. Equally, we wanted to create a building that would continue the College’s traditions of domestic scale and social warmth. One respondent picks up on this: ‘Can’t quite put into words how lucky we all are to have access to space like the New Library. I think it embodies all the best bits of

Magdalene’s community and warm atmosphere. I will miss this library when I go but I am very grateful for the time I’ve got to spend in it’.

Many of the qualities that the students praise were noted by the architects and by the judges of the Stirling Prize 2022 who awarded the building the accolade of best building of the year. Its architect, Mr Níall McLaughlin observes ‘I think humans instinctively move towards daylight, and so we saw the journey through the building as being a rising up towards daylight’. The vast majority of student responses compliment the ‘architecture and atmosphere’, the sense of ‘space’, and many times over its clean and bright interior. This sense of a ‘journey’ into the light is one of the most powerful ways in which the New Library holds the interest of its users and leaves them sorry to leave.

It just remains for me to thank all our donors and supporters, on behalf of the building’s users and its staff. We have been able to construct a library that ensures students have a tranquil, well-equipped, and inspiring place to study: a place, in words that bear repeating, that ‘embodies all the best bits of Magdalene’s community’.

ACCESS AND OUTREACH

Having taken up the role of Schools Liaison Officer in July 2022, I became immediately aware of the eagerness of schools and students to visit Magdalene and engage with the College in person, following two years of virtual events.

The pandemic has taught us the value of online events for reaching large numbers of geographically diverse students, however we understand that students wish to envision themselves living and studying in Cambridge, and thus relish the chance to see the city for themselves.

We were able to offer two cohorts of students this very opportunity during 2022. In April, Magdalene welcomed thirteen students to the in-person element of our Black and Minority Ethnic Engineering Residential. Students stayed overnight in College and took part in a variety of activities run by Dr Richard Roebuck (1994) and the Department of Engineering. In August, Magdalene hosted sixteen students as part of the Universitywide STEM SMART programme. During the 2021–2022 academic year, the STEM SMART programme supported over 400 talented state school students through their A-Level studies in STEM subjects. Magdalene’s residential cohort attended a variety of academic and admissions sessions at the Cavendish Laboratory, as well as an evening punting and a formal dinner at Christ’s College. The first iteration of the programme was overwhelmingly successful, and Magdalene have committed to hosting a second cohort in August 2023.

Magdalene is also proud to be supporting ClickCambridge, a year-long programme run by ten Cambridge Colleges which supports UK-domiciled

Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and Arab students in Year 12. 690 eligible students have signed up to this year’s programme, which provides targeted support to address underrepresentation within Higher Education.

We continue to work closely with external partners including the Seren Network in North Wales to support students from Year 9–13. Since September 2022, we have run five webinars for Seren learners, covering topics including making suitable GCSE and A-Level choices and preparing personal statements. The webinars were collectively attended by over 350 Welsh students. The sessions will be followed by in-person workshops in Wales in Spring 2023. We will also work with Target Oxbridge to organize

tailored events for Black African and Caribbean students and their parents in Spring and Summer 2023.

Magdalene’s outreach offerings in 2023 will include school visits, residentials, and large-scale events in our Link Areas. We are looking forward to our annual residential for Year 12 students in April 2023, as well as our BME Engineering Residential in August 2023. The College is also very excited for our biannual Liverpool Event to return to an in-person format in March 2023, during which we will invite 400 Year 11 students and teachers for a packed day of taster lectures and opportunities to talk to Magdalene Fellows and students.

THE FUTURE FOUNDATIONS CAMPAIGN

The Impact on Student Bursaries and Support

Magdalene College has long believed that students achieve their best when not burdened by financial concerns. Financial support to undergraduate students covers a number of schemes underpinned by the Cambridge Bursary Scheme (CBS) which gives grants to undergraduates from low-income households. Over the last 10 years an increasing proportion of the CBS is funded by the College.

In addition to the CBS grants, Magdalene offers further financial assistance of £1,000–£1,500 a year to those students whose household income is below £25,000. Students coming from these lowincome households receive between £4,500 and £5,000 a year (up to £7,100 for independent students or care leavers). All these awards are fully donor sponsored with the majority having a named donor.

Magdalene also took part in a pilot scheme which sought to assist students in the ‘squeezed middle’ household income bracket and carry out research on the impact of additional small grants.

It would not have been possible for Magdalene to participate in all these schemes without donor support. For the last five years, the College has received strong support from donors and this has enabled these programmes to be fully donor funded.

Over the last five years just under a third of all eligible undergraduate students have come from households with an income of less than £42,000 a year. Of these 63% have been from households of less than £25,000 a year and therefore received a fully sponsored Magdalene bursary. Apart from 2021–22 there has been an increasing number of students supported through the Magdalene Bursary Scheme.

Research carried out by the University of Cambridge found the financial support offered to undergraduate students contributed substantially to their wellbeing, enabling participation in academic, social activities and general overall student experience. Students interviewed reported valuing the financial support highly, enabling them to focus on studies, socialize and exchange ideas with their peers; it significantly mitigated concerns around burdening their families, lowering of stress and worry about day-to-day survival. More research is underway exploring the relationship between financial support and undergraduate

academic outcomes. Current evidence suggests that those from the lowestincome households receiving financial support perform similarly to those in receipt of a partial bursary.

In 2021–22 the College was able to offer student support of over £800,000. This includes the undergraduate Magdalene Bursary Scheme, postgraduate scholarships, financial hardship grants, achievement awards and support for sporting activities. All of which have been funded through the generosity of donors and endowment funds set up by benefactors.

STUDENT WELLBEING AT MAGDALENE

Just as a human-scale library built of natural materials enables good reading, so a human-scale community that cares about the essentials enables fruitful learning.

Building a library is a prophetic statement in our era of online learning. But the idea of a College itself is a statement nowadays: sharing life together contributes to knowledge and wisdom and says something about what we think a University is for.

So, if in this human-scale community we encourage life together in all its forms – around a meal, at the piano or pool table, on the staircase, on campaign, or on the river –we are also faced with the truth that many of our students need support to live well. The essentials are in flux for so many of our students and we have to care about how they are, not only what they are doing.

Disrupted education and economic uncertainty, in the UK and worldwide, has had a major impact on students’ resilience, practically and mentally. On top of the expected

unexpected – grief, loss, family troubles, identity issues, financial hardship – and on top of the pressure of the Cambridge environment, our students live with the stresses of being a young adult in a world which never sleeps and where so much is at stake. For whatever the reason, the number of students presenting with mental health needs, and with very complex needs, has dramatically increased.

The College takes all this extremely seriously. We have an experienced team of Tutors and tutorial staff; our longserving, much-loved College Nurse; access to the University Counselling Service; our Chaplain; the constant, unflappable Porters; dedicated student Welfare Officers; and some means to access care for acute needs.

However, the recent Mental Health Review across the University has brought into focus the challenges we have

‘From a tutorial point of view, more students have sought support for mental health issues in recent years, due partly to increasing awareness and willingness to seek help. Many tutees experience major challenges during their time in Cambridge, such as loss of a close family member or diagnosis of a serious physical or mental illness, and without intensive pastoral support, they will not have been able to complete their studies successfully.’

long experienced and has helped shape a new and strategic response. We are very pleased that with the generosity of our Members and Friends we have appointed a new Head of Student Wellbeing. She will coordinate the wellbeing of all students, triaging, assessing individual cases and also offering therapeutic care (as a former University Counsellor she comes with many years of experience with our students). She will build on our programme of wellbeing

‘In my conversations with students over many years I have met many who would have found it much more challenging to complete their studies if it were not for pastoral support in College. The pastoral team is a protective factor within College where the students’ emotional and physical needs are acknowledged so that they can achieve their best, academically and personally.’

activities and provide support and guidance to Tutors and other Pastoral Team members. With this support we can focus on what the College is really good at, with clear pathways to support beyond the College.

My role as Chaplain brings me into daily contact with the many wonderful ways in which the College is a natural haven for preventative wellbeing support – it has been wonderful to see how all through the pandemic and beyond our student Welfare Officers have enabled gentle, meaningful and downright fun ways to help people to take care of themselves. I also see how we are the sort of place where people get comfortable with opening up to their challenges and how important it is to be equipped to meet needs in a timely and effective way. But I also know that we are a place where diagnoses or difficulties are held in a wider perspective, where patient presence and a bigger purpose plays a part in putting people back together. Wellbeing in the College is a building project that needs resourcing, as any other. But the results have an effect far beyond our precincts.

THE MAGDALENE COLLEGE FOUNDATION

Magdalene is often viewed as ‘the small College that punches above its weight’, particularly now that the College has delivered a knock-out punch by winning the first RIBA Stirling Prize in all of Oxbridge since the award’s establishment in 1996.

What is not so well known is that the North American contingent of Magdalene’s alumni and friends could be viewed as ‘the small group that punches above its weight’: we have about one-twentieth of the College’s alumni population but contributed about onetenth of the funds necessary to build the New Library.

The US contributed the staggering sum of £4,272,766, for which those of us on this side of the Pond take great pride. Half of this fantastic total was contributed by just two exceptionally generous Members in support of Magdalene’s students and teaching as the College’s Campaign was also focused on strengthening financial support for those core areas. We are hugely grateful but take perhaps even more pride in the fact that 229 people in total contributed to the Campaign via the Magdalene College Foundation, which is roughly one-half of those living on these shores – quite a remarkable achievement. This is larger than, for example, the percentage of Harvard alumni who contributed to their capital campaign a few years ago. When you consider that many in our cohort are academics and others with more limited financial resources, this commitment to provide Magdalene with a top-rate facility and to support the Future Foundations Campaign in general speaks highly of the close connection with the College despite the distance.

USA

Members Participation Rates

About half of those who donated contributed at least £1,000 to the Campaign, thus adding their names to the Wall of Benefactors in the New Library. About one-third of our donors made their first-ever gift to Magdalene for this important campaign, and almost half had never before contributed to the Magdalene College Foundation, the USbased, tax-exempt entity that supports the College. It was truly a group effort.

I spoke at a kick-off event for the Campaign, held in New York in April 2017. I asked the attendees to make the New Library one of their top charitable priorities over the next few years, but I also noted that every gift is recognized because every gift, however modest, matters. We have had some substantial donations for which the College is exceptionally grateful, but we also received $10 donations from students and recent graduates who felt strongly about the importance of the New Library and the Campaign for those at Magdalene. To all of those generous contributors, thank you very much for your support.

ROBERT CHARTENER, Fellow Commoner and Chairman of the Magdalene College Foundation

A VIEW FROM A DONOR

My husband, Yen How Tai, and I are strong believers in helping talented young people who struggle financially to achieve their dreams.

Iwas awarded the full bond-free Jardine Scholarship for my undergraduate studies at Magdalene College. Without this scholarship, my family would not have been able to finance my studies and this opportunity was life-changing for me. I benefitted greatly from the education I received at Cambridge, as well as from the intellectual and yet family-like environment at Magdalene. My husband comes from Malaysia, a country where the idea of even a middle-income family supporting a student to attend Cambridge University is far-fetched. He had also grown very fond of Magdalene by being involved with organising the many Open Days we have held at our house in Singapore for potential future students over the years and by building deep, meaningful friendships with various people at the College.

In 2019 we came up with the idea of launching the YH2 Capital Scholarship when brainstorming how we might best support Magdalene’s fundraising Campaign and a scholarship seemed the ideal way to give back to the College. This is a fully funded and bond-free scholarship offered to an outstanding Malaysian student with exemplary academic and personal qualities, who would not otherwise have the financial means to pursue a degree at the University of Cambridge.

We welcomed our first Scholar, Ms Teoh Yun Xin, in 2020. Yun Xin is currently in her third year studying Law and on track to receive a First-Class Honours Degree at Magdalene. During the application process and interviews, Yun Xin stood out with her determination, intellect, and passion. Despite experiencing hardship and adversity in her life, she has remained steadfast and resilient, demonstrating all the qualities we look for in our Scholars.

The YH2 Capital Scholarship is bond-free because we want our Scholars to have the freedom to pursue their passions and interests after they graduate. They should not be bound in any way when making their career choices. We also wanted to emphasize the importance of studying liberal arts as well as basic science subjects and hence we choose to exclude certain subjects form being eligible for our scholarship. Going forward, we are increasing our commitment to funding two YH2

Capital Scholarships given the success of our first Scholar and having witnessed the hardship that the pandemic has caused to many.

As a Magdalene alumna myself, I have always loved the warmth and acceptance the College has offered to its students. It brings me incredible joy to know that this has lived on, and that the current students are experiencing the same hospitality I did.

We truly hope that the YH2 Scholarship will make a real difference to the lives of our Scholars, and they, in turn, will make a real difference to the lives of other people. It is our hope and belief that the best way to make lasting changes is to pay it forward.

MS BARBARA YU (1995), Co-managing Partner, YH Holdings Inc

“The scholarship has provided me with more than just the financial assistance to study at Cambridge which I otherwise would not have been able to, but also enriched my life experiences in ways I could have never imagined. I am also deeply appreciative of Mr Tai and Ms Yu’s guidance and mentorship in giving me valuable life advice and helping me grow as person ” TEOH YUN XIN (2020)

SUPPORTING MAGDALENE

Every gift, large and small, makes a huge difference to the College. There are many ways you can support the College, details of which can be found online at www.magd.cam.ac.uk/support.

UK Taxpayers

If you are a UK taxpayer, every £100 you donate through Gift Aid is worth £125 to Magdalene; the difference is paid by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) at no extra cost to you.

If you pay tax at the higher or additional rate you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and the basic rate on your donation, either by filing a self-assessment tax return or by asking HMRC to amend your tax code.

For example:

Net Donation to College Gift Aid Amount

Cost to the Donor (after tax reclaim) What the College Receives

US Taxpayers

US taxpayers can make tax efficient gifts via The Magdalene College Foundation (MCF) which is a 501(c)3 organisation. The Alumni and Development Office is the administrative office of the MCF.

Gifts made by US taxpayers to the MCF are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and a tax receipt in a form acceptable to the Internal Revenue Service will be issued for every donation received.

Cheques are to be made payable to ‘The Magdalene College Foundation’, and sent to: The Magdalene College Foundation c/o Goulet, Salvidio & Associates, PC, 324 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605

Canadian Taxpayers

The University of Cambridge will issue donation receipts that are accepted by the Canada Revenue Agency for tax purposes on behalf of Magdalene.

Cheques are to be made payable to ‘Magdalene College Cambridge’, and sent to: Alumni & Development Office, Magdalene College, Cambridge, CB3 0AG

If you would like more information or wish to discuss your gift in confidence, please contact the Development Office by telephone +44 (0)1223 764410 or by email development.director@magd.cam.ac.uk.

Alternatively, please complete and return the accompanying donation form. Thanks for your support!
