ENI Engineering believes in working with others to create success, so they’re collaborating with power utilities around New Zealand to minimise the risk of Karearea electrocutions, and other dangers to this rare and beautiful bird. With excellence and innovation in the field of sheet metal fabrication being part of ENI Engineering’s culture since starting in 1993, they teamed up with the Department of Conservation to pinpoint components of overhead electrical equipment such as transformers and lighting arrestors, which can potentially be hazardous to Karearea.

Laser profile cutting The Trumpf Fibre Laser can provide a quick and cost effective solution for your laser profiling requirements. Folding With CNC Press brake machines, ENI’s folding services enable lengths of up to 3.6 with consistent accuracy.
They devised methods to insulate and safeguard the cross arms to make them safer for Karearea, creating Falcon Shields, which can be fitted with new installations or retrofitted. Business development manager, Dave Fletcher, says “Through the conceptual design process, it has become very clear that not only do we solve the issue of the New Zealand Falcon being electrocuted, but the product also has the potential to reduce the number of outages caused by all species of birds.”
