KRISTA KLEINER MAY HAVE SUCH A FOREIGN-

sounding name and appearance but her Mom’s influence has made her very Filipino.

Despite being raised in the U.S., her mother spoke only Tagalog to her as a child so she would be able to learn the language. She learned to sing Bahay Kubo and was taught to keep her Filipino values and culture. “My classmates were puzzled to find me eating my meal with a spoon and fork instead of the usual knife and fork!” Four years ago, she impressed a TV network reporter with her command of the language and her talent for singing Tagalog songs in a Filipino Expo event in the U.S. This led her to joining the Binibining Pilipinas and winning the Binibining Pilipinas-International title. It is evident in Krista that she can be who she chooses to be wherever circumstances she finds herself in. ON THE COVER: Krista Kleiner • Photography: Jo Ann Bitagcol • Makeup: Tracy Ang-Conlin, M: (0917) 555-2888 • Hair: Ruel Papa, M: (0916) 749-0839 • Fashion styling: Charmaine Palermo • Clothes (for this page and cover): Navy trench from Mango, Shirt from Gas Jeans.

r a t S t n a t c lu e R The rista Kleiner K

KRISTA KLEINER MAY HAVE SUCH A FOREIGNsounding name and appearance but her Mom’s influence has made her very Filipino. Despite being born and raised in the U.S., she was taught to speak Tagalog, sing Bahay Kubo and appreciate Filipino values and culture as a child by her Filipino mother. This nerd, honor student and published author at 16 years of age had set her sights on a scholarly profession, but dancing and performing had always been her passion. Four years ago, in a Filipino Expo event in the U.S, this Taekwondo black belter impressed a TV network reporter with her command of the language and her talent for singing Tagalog songs. This led her to joining a local pageant and eventually winning the Binibining Pilipinas-International title. Now with Manila as her home, she is excited to launch her all original dance album soon and further a career in showbiz. It is evident that Krista can be a winner in whatever she chooses to be and in whatever circumstances she finds herself in. ON THE COVER: Krista Kleiner • Photography: Jo Ann Bitagcol • Makeup: Tracy Ang-Conlin, M: (0917) 555-2888 • Hair: Ruel Papa, M: (0916) 749-0839 • Fashion styling: Charmaine Palermo • Clothes (this page and the cover): Navy trench from Mango, Shirt from Gas Jeans.

L’ Entrecote Manila Men are oily. A fact that members of both genders may not be aware of. It is comforting that several brands are now starting to formulate products that consider this and other conditions unique to men. This is good news for the women who have to lend their products to their male partners. Watson’s Men is one of them with their products including Energetic Eye Roll On, Facial Cream, Recovery Liquid and Facial cleanser. Run to your nearest Watson’s or SM Department Store Beauty Section to check these and more products.

r The Reluctant Sta Krista Kleiner
