MADISON – Yesterday voters went to the polls in Madison to decide who will lead the city of Madison for the next four years. There were opponents in nearly all Madison city races for the municipal elections, except for the district 7 city council position. Incumbent John Seifert was the only candidate to qualify. Because of The Madison Record’s print deadline before the polls closed, the results of the election will be announced online at www.themadisonrecord.com. In the mayor’s race, two-term incumbent Paul Finley ran for a third term. Challenging him was Marc Highsmith. In the city council races, James Ross challenged incumbent Maura Wroblewski for the district 1 position. See ELECTION Page 2A

MADISON – If you have ever hated waiting in line at the ALEA Driver License office in Huntsville, there is a glimmer of hope. Madison now has it’s own full driver license office. Madison County Commissioner Steve Haraway, along with Mayor Paul Finley, formally cut the ribbon on the addition of the new ALEA Driver License Division office last week. Set to open Sept. 1, the new office is located at the Madison County Service Center in Madison. This will serve as another state office available for residents to use for driver’s license service, license testing and driver’s road testing. “We are excited to be working with ALEA to add this additional location for drivers license testing to the Madison County area. This project is a great example of how the State, City, and County can work together to create easier access to community essential services,” said Commissioner Haraway. “Opening this service in Madison City
