JUNEAU

Juneau is the county seat of Dodge County. Close proximity to larger cities provides excellent shopping and cultural opportunities, yet one can still enjoy the small community atmosphere Juneau has to offer.

Only about three miles west of the Rock River and minutes from Lake Sinnissippi and the Horicon Marsh, outdoor recreation and exploration are close at hand. The Wild Goose State Trail links the cities of Juneau and Fond du Lac. This 34 mile compacted limestone trail traverses oak woodlots, fertile farm fields, prairie remnants and sparkling streams as it runs through the rural country sides of Dodge and Fond du Lac Counties. Wildlife, scenery and level surface provide safe, easy and enjoyable biking and hiking for all ages.

Edwin Brix Vineyard & Sell Family wines is located right outside of Juneau, and is Dodge County’s first licensed winery. They grow a variety of red and white cold hardy grapes. Unlike most wineries in Wisconsin, 100% of their wines are made from grapes they grow.

The Dodge County Airport is located about 1 mile north of the city and is large enough to accommodate jet traffic.

The Juneau Chamber of Commerce holds community events throughout the year to encourage business growth and community strength.

FOX LAKE

From the ripple of a wave to the roar of a snowmobile, Fox Lake has many activities for every season. Our resorts and lakeside community continually host fishing tournaments, fisherees, flea markets, ice events and several holiday and social events throughout the year.

Try your hand at a round of golf on our pristine 18-hole course. Peruse our vintage and specialty shops or cool off in the summer at our aquatic center. To complete your visit, dine at one of our local restaurants, which offer a variety of choices from burgers and pizza to steak and seafood.

Fox Lake is a city rich in history. The Fox Lake Historical Museum, in the old train depot, displays the findings from the 1983 archaeo-

logical dig as well as other local history. We also have a historical room at our library. Fox Lake offers a variety of industry throughout the city and rural areas. There is a 62-acre industrial park on the city’s south side.

A unique experience awaits all those who find themselves here, whether it’s for a day or for a lifetime.

METALCRAFT OF MAYVILLE

Roots run deep for Mayville’s Metalcraft

Although it wasn’t always referred to by the same name, Metalcraft of Mayville has always had its roots planted firmly in the metal fabrication and manufacturing industry – and the community of Mayville. Its heritage can be traced back to the Peerless Traveling Goods Company founded in Mayville in 1920. While Peerless focused on manufacturing luggage products, another Mayville business, J. Dorst Company, had its sights set on metal stamping. Eventually calling itself Dorst Metalcraft, the company began producing parts for the automotive industry, as well as parts for Peerless, until it ceased operations and was sold to Dorst Metalcraft in 1958. In the years leading up to the purchase, Dorst Metalcraft had refocused its efforts to customer-contract sheet metal fabrication.

In the early 1970s, Dorst Metalcraft was purchased by Edwin “Ned” Gallun Jr. Within a year, a new, 63,000 square-foot plant was constructed on 30 acres of land, and the company’s name changed to Metalcraft of Mayville, the name it still holds today. By the end of the decade, Metalcraft employed about 100 men and women.

While it continued its tradition of metal fabrication for various industries, it also ventured into the commercial lawnmower industry with its purchase of Scag Power Equipment in 1986, whose products had been built under contract by Metalcraft since Scag’s beginnings in 1983. The Scag brand would quickly become a top choice of lawn care professionals, and continues to reinforce its position today as an awardwinning industry leader.

Metalcraft still calls Mayville home, but has since expanded to West Bend, Beaver Dam, Fall River, Horicon, New Berlin, as well as Auburn Hills, Michigan. In addition to Scag Power Equipment, the Metalcraft family of companies currently includes Bluebird Turf, a manufacturer of premium turf care equipment. Metalcraft Plastics Group is a rotational plastic molding facility in Horicon. Metalcraft Automation Group is a provider of turnkey manufacturing automation solutions. Metalcraft’s

Versatran division manufactures the industry-leading “Retriever” line of industrial equipment carriers. Most recently, the Scag Racing division was formed as a multi-car factory team in NHRA Drag Racing. From its humble beginnings with 100 workers, Metalcraft of Mayville now employs well over 1,000 talented individuals between all sites in a wide variety of positions.

Metalcraft focuses on providing employees with the best work environments in regards to safety, technology, equipment and processes, along with the top-notch benefits, including healthcare with access to free health clinics for primary care services. Additionally, all employees receive a catered lunch from a local business during every shift on “Thank You Thursdays.” These are just some of the many ways Metalcraft creates an engaging environment for its employees. That environment extends to maximizing individual talents. Despite its size, the company is still family-owned, and places emphasis on its people.

Learning Labs. These are backed by a deep curriculum from LAB Midwest, featuring industrial-grade Robotic, Welding and CNC Machining technology. Additionally, the manufacturer sponsors countless community events such as local fireworks, summer gatherings, parades, sports teams

Customers are treated with the same care and effort in mind: Metalcraft’s corporate philosophy is to work continuously on providing excellent customer service at fair prices, and always strive to be the best in everything they do. Community is also a top priority, as employees are given the opportunity to work one day annually at a charity of their choice - while still getting paid.

Metalcraft also partners with local schools to promote STEM learning opportunities for students through

Being a good community partner is a hallmark of the manufacturer, with owners who believe in giving back to the community that have supported them for more than a century – and hopefully will continue to for another 100.

Snowmobile enthusiasts will find an interconnected system of more than 320 miles of groomed county snowmobile trails that traverse farm fields, woodlots, lowlands and the Wild Goose State Trail, with another 180 miles of unfunded “club-owned” trails available for use within the county. Trails provide access to trail systems in neighboring counties. The “club-owned” trails serve more of the local users often connecting the county trails and populated areas that provide food, service and overnight facilities. Visit us at dodgeparks. com or call the 24 hour trail status line at 920-386-3705 for more information.

ATV TRAILS

Dodge County opens 20 miles of ATV trails from Dec. 1 - Mar. 31. Riding is only permitted during that time when the county has officially declared the trail open. The ATV trail can be opened if there is sufficient ground freeze or snowbase to prevent damage to the trail surface. The trails are primarily located on the surfaced areas of Wild Goose State Trail and the designated ATV trail routes through Burnett and East Waupun. The ATV trail runs from the parking lot at Highway 60 north to Highway 49. Visit us at dodgeparks.com or call 920-386-3705 (Status Line) for more information.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Dodge County welcomes horseback riding on a separate 14-mile pathway along the Wild Goose State Trail between Highway 60 and Pautsch Road (about four miles north of Burnett). Trail terrain is generally easy riding, although special caution is necessary in areas with steep side slopes, wet crossings and near highways and roads. The trail surface is grass, dirt and wood chips and winds through wooded and open areas in the right-of-way of the Wild Goose Trail. Horses are not allowed on the limestone-surfaced trail except at designated horse trail crossings.

BEAVER DAM RIVER

is also great for recreational paddling. Cotton Mill Park to County Road J, is a section of the Beaver Dam River that begins as an exhilarating urban paddle before quieting down towards the outskirts of town amongst suburban development, then narrowing again and alternating between wooded corridors, farmland and finally to a wider, almost marshy stretch, before the take-out. Add in a quite handsome train bridge, some minor drops and riffles, and you have yourself a great trip if you can catch it at the right levels. There is a kayak launch at Cotton Mill Park. Check out Beaver Paddlers on facebook for updates on river conditions and shuttle information.

ROCK RIVER

The gentle current you’ll find on the Rock River makes it ideal for paddling. One of the most popular launches is Harnischfeger Park on the Rock River. Canoe and kayak rentals are also available here. Paddlers can travel upstream for 17 miles to Hustisford or downstream 25 miles to Watertown.

ROCK RIVER WATER TRAIL

is proud to be a designated National Water Trail. The water trail meanders down a gentle gradient through beautiful rural and wilderness landscapes and urban riverfronts to safely carry the water traveler 320 miles from the headwaters above the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge in south central Wisconsin to the Mississippi River at the Quad Cities of Illinois and Iowa. For further information on maps, access points and descriptions of all segments of the Rock River please see www.rockrivertrail.com.

CAMBRIA-FRIESLAND AREA

These quiet corners of Wisconsin hold secrets lush woodlands, fertile farmland, and a sense of community that transcends time. As you explore, you’ll find more than picturesque landscapes; you’ll discover a tapestry woven with tradition, celebration, and opportunity. Friesland’s Summer Tradition

Every Tuesday evening throughout the summer, Friesland hosts a cherished tradition, a century-old band concert. Picture it: the sun dipping below the horizon, the air alive with melodies. The community band, weathered instruments in hand, conjures nostalgia as they play old-fashioned tunes. What pairs better with music than homemade pies? Local groups offer these delectable treats, served with a scoop of ice cream, as neighbors gather around the Village Square. It’s a slice of Americana, where time slows, and connections flourish.

On the 4th of July, Friesland ignites the sky with a spectacular fireworks

display. Patriotic songs resonate, and families revel in an evening of wholesome fun. The air buzzes with anticipation, and children’s laughter mingles with the crackle of fireworks. It’s a celebration that binds generations a reminder of unity and shared pride.

As summer wanes, Cambria steps into the spotlight. Park Days, held on the first weekend of August, kicks off with a softball tournament a spirited clash of local talent. The parade winds through streets adorned with local talent and creatively designed floats. In the park, the aroma of a chicken BBQ mingles with laughter. Children dart between games, and live music weaves through the crowd. The Dump Bar now expanded and thriving for over 50 years awaits, promising great food, live tunes, and surprises. It is also host to the 21st Annual Dump Run and Music Festival an event that has fueled over $400,000 in charitable contributions over the years.

The heartbeat of these communities lies in their businesses. From cozy diners to bustling gas stations, they serve residents and visitors alike. We champion local commerce, knowing that each purchase sustains our shared prosperity. Amidst the rolling fields, agricultural giants thrive. ethanol plants hum, and one of North America’s newest dry corn mills grinds away. Cambria’s canning facilities preserve flavors, while Friesland’s expansive warehouse echoes with industry. Alsum Farms and Produce, a beacon of growth, celebrates half a century its vegetables nourishing the Midwest. And let’s not forget the wind turbines majestic guardians harnessing renewable energy for Wisconsin.

The Cambria Friesland School the Hilltoppers’ haven educates students from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade. With an 11:1 studentteacher ratio, personalized learning flourishes. Beyond textbooks, the school cultivates passions. Athletics, music, band, art, FFA, and industrial arts each avenue sparks curiosity. Here, young minds find their rhythm, their purpose.

As the seasons shift, we extend an invitation. Come breathe the crisp air, wander our trails, and witness the sunsets that paint our skies. Attend our festivals, taste our pies, and dance to our music. And when you’re ready, explore the job opportunities whether in trucking, farming, or innovation. Cambria and Friesland await, their beauty etched in every smile, every shared memory.

Welcome home.
