ME + WE

Having a space where people can flow between working individually and working as a team is important in a workspace because it can create an organic, flexible feel to the environment, making work more enjoyable.

Design Principles

FIXED TO FLUID

Fixed to Fluid is about having a modular space that is multi-use and can support multiple styles of work. The premise is for it to be able to adapt to its users and be functional for all types of work, media and physical.

OPEN + CLOSED

While collaboration in open spaces is important and builds trust between employees, access to private spaces is equally as important as it provides a space for nexters to work in solace without interruption.

BRAIDING DIGITAL + PHYSICAL

Having a space where teams can work remotely or side by side is a plus in a design space as it allows designers and architects to work with clients and other employees over zoom or any other method of communication.

PRELIMINARY SKETCH

TOP VIEW SKETCH

The inspiration for TERRESTRIAL emanates from the enigmatic realms of outer space, encapsulating the allure of the unknown. Through a meticulous fusion of shapes and lines, I have crafted an organically shaped portable lamp that gives off sophisticated semi-indirect light. The deliberate incorporation of 1/4" perforations in the central shade serves the purpose of allowing light to permeate through, creating an exquisite interplay with the gold accents on the larger lamp shade. This intentional design directs a significant portion of the light downward, reflecting off the lustrous gold base, thereby rendering the fixture ideal for both task-oriented and accent lighting purposes.

TERRESTRIAL stands as a testament to refined aesthetics and functional illumination, seamlessly blending the intrigue of outer space with timeless design principles.

SKETCHES

The Pix barstool seamlessly blends history and modern design, evoking the rugged spirit of Denver's mid-1800s gold rush. Inspired by the pickaxes of prospectors, it pays homage to their relentless pursuit of gold. Meticulously crafted, the barstool captures the era's essence while boasting a modern aesthetic. Its robust structure indicates the resilience of those seeking fortune in Colorado's rugged landscapes. Featured in The Prospector restaurant and bar, the Pix barstool provides not only a comfortable perch but also a captivating visual journey back to the adventurous days of the gold rush. A conversation starter and a tangible link to Denver's rich history, this barstool is a unique blend of past and present.

PROBLEM SOLUTION

Hyperactive

children with ADHD in a learning environment.

Creating a versatile seat that oscillates, has holes for fidgeting, can be sat in backwards with a built in “desk/head rest,” and has the room to allow the student to sit crisscrossed.

CONCEPT

The OLIN chair, designed with versatility in mind, was created to help hyperactive children and students be able to focus while they are in an educational setting. This was achieved by taking the curved elements from the painting and implementing them into a design to create a unique and functional seating option for hyperactive (ADHD children) within education.
