Hey there! Happy New Year and welcome to the wild world of bull catalogues once again!

Can you believe it's already time to write another welcoming message? Every year, I sit down to brainstorm my opening words and end up in deep contemplation on what to write. First things first, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who made 2024 such an amazing year by supporting my program. I feel incredibly honored to have been a part of your 2024 cattle buying adventure, whether it was for your new herd sire or a lovely new addition to the cow herd. Without all of your support, I wouldn't be able to do what I do. There are still plenty of goals and dreams to chase, and it's all thanks to you that I can work towards making them a reality. I am truly grateful for this.

I am absolutely thrilled to welcome you to the 2024 private treaty bull extravaganza! With brand new Herd Sire groups and a fresh batch of genetics in the herd, I can confidently say that this is our most powerful offering yet! To start off our catalog, we've got an outstanding duo of Zam sons. Unfortunately, Zam had to bid farewell due to an unfavorable semen test. Despite this, we hold dear to the many fruitful years we spent with Zam, and we're delighted to see his influence in the pastures, and his limited legacy currently preserved in the semen tank. We plan to continue selectively using his genetics in the years to come. We wholeheartedly believe that his two sons have set an exceptionally high bar, showcasing completeness from head to toe. Our latest addition to the farm, the one and only LFE BS LEWIS 3200J from Lewis Farms in 2023. This fella is about to shake things up around here, 3200J has been knocking it out of the park with his first batch of calves. The four sons we've got in the pen this year are like peas in a podtalk about a good-looking bunch! These boys are all set to make a big splash in the beef game. And guess what? Old Cannon, our reliable old-timer, has finally come through with some heifers, adding to his track record. Cannon's like a fine wine, getting better with age, and his offspring are spreading far and wide, all the way to the U.S. of A through the semen we've sold! We even had the pleasure of selling a few straws off of Cannon at the recent Transcon National Trust event. Among the other big boys, BEE Leon 765G and Anchor D Kasino 582K, Leon has been our go-to guy for years in the heifer pen, always coming through. He's like that reliable friend who never lets you down. On the other hand, Kasino had his debut calf crop in 2024, and boy, did they exceed expectations! This bull is like a superhero, handling all kinds of cows with ease. We're itching to see what else he can do! These bulls are the real deal, and you can come check them out at the farm.

And hey, have you seen the young blood we're offering in the catalog? In the Fall of 2023 - I was fortunate enough to acquire Jeff Bruketa's herd. These young bulls are a bit behind on age, but that doesn't mean they will lack in the romance department with later breeding seasons. If they stick around for another year, they'll be strutting their stuff as two-year-olds in 2026. Jason, Jeff's brother owner of JB Livestock, has been curating a top-notch herd for the past three decades. When I took over Jeff's share of the herd, I had full confidence in the potential and possibility of these cattle. These bulls are the result of Jason's careful matchmaking over many generations, with time these bulls will become very special breeding pieces.

Now, get ready to check out the Madge Simmentals 2025 Private Treaty bull pen. Come on down and meet these fine fellas in the flesh. And if you can't make it, don't worry, we'll be your trusty matchmaker in finding the perfect addition to your herd. Looking forward to our cow chat! Please dont hesitate to ask any questions by phone or text.

Madge Mr Megatron 52M

It's always an exhilarating moment to discover which bull will be listed first in the catalog. This year, it happens to be one of our two sons of Zam that we will be selling during this bull season. Since day one, 2452 has displayed great potential. He possesses excellent foot structure, a long body, a dark pigmentation, and an attractive appearance. Megatron is the offspring of our 395F cow, whom we acquired from our good friends at Anchor D Simmentals a few years ago. This cow exhibits a beautiful udder, rib shape, and overall appeal. 52M shows immense potential, and if he takes after his sire, I am confident that wherever his future leads, success will follow. Should the new owners of 52M be interested in selling straws from this bull, we would be extremely interested to incorporate him into our breeding program.

Madge Mr MoonWalk 59M

If you were to ask me which cow has been the most successful in my herd, I wouldn’t hesitate to say Virginia Dakota 63D. Every year since the beginning, she’s consistently produces high-quality offspring. Offspring from maternal brothers and sisters to 59M have been acquired by Cody and Kindra Mashon, Kent and Dawn Beaudin, Steve and Helen Madge, Anchor D Simmentals, JNR Farms, and one daughter has remained in the herd. 59M is Liver Red, with Wavy Hair, and is robustly built to excel as a breeding machine! Moonwalk will have you dancing year in and year out with the exceptional progeny he will leave in your program. Pay attention to this one because he will fulfill many of your breeding requirements.

Madge Mr MixMatch 20M

Hmm, where should I begin with this one? It's like a blast from the past, a real old-fashioned, Chromeo and Juliet situation. Can't say for sure, but one thing's for certain - this bull is seriously impressive. Mix Match is a striking young bull with roots tracing back to the mighty SU Rona cow I bought from Chad Smith (Clearwater Simmentals) a while back. With some extra bone mass, hind quarter, and a polled head, this fella is destined to grow into a powerhouse. He's got some unique qualities, so make sure to come and take a look. I just know he's going to stand out in more ways than one! Maternal Grand dam

Madge Mr Mojito 01M

The KSL Jesse James bull from the KSL Simmentals program has really grown some popularity. When Keegan and Brad first advertised semen on this bull I knew we needed to add him to our AI program. 2401 was our first Jesse James calf last year and we are very excited with how he matured. Being born to a daughter of Virginia Marquee, I had hoped this calf would be a great candidate to develop into a heifer bull. With a nice skull, smooth shoulder and a 79 pound birth weight, take note of this bull to use in your heifer pen. The calving ease is bred into him, without sacrificing your end product in the fall. Mojito is a special one and we’d love to show you him in person.

Madge Mr Maybe 60M

Fun story with this one, 60M was never supposed to even be created. But on one beautiful crisp spring morning, Kasino our one herd sire must have caught a whiff of something in the air. He swam the creek, had a morning date with 5J, and went back on his way to his side of the creek. Sire verifying this guy was very difficult, but we went through the list and finally found out that 582K " IS The Father”. An accident in one way, but the creation of something spectacular. 60M may just have the biggest hip on him then any bull I’ve raised. He moves freely with style in his step, long loined, big middled and a real brick house of a bull. 2460’s dam is a very lovely young female, with a picture perfect udder, she’s a cow that I could see making her way to the top of the herd in the next couple years. Maybe this is the type of bull you need in your herd this year?

Madge Mr Matrix 92L

Madge Mr Maximum 91L

Here’s a new one for me and I’m sure it is for most. A set of twin half brothers…. Yes, half brothers. In 2023 I selected a couple of herd bulls to go into one group of cows in the hopes of tightening up our calving season. In this case KLR Emily 29D had a secret love affair with both bulls, resulting in a mixed sired set of twin bull calves. We have the polled Cannon 92L, and the horned 91L Prime-Time 711J son. A very quick and easy way to get two ½ brothers in one year off the same cow. These two brothers are both built like brick houses. Wide topped, big hipped, and quite the pair to see in person. They both offer the same characteristics and build, just take your choice of the horned or polled option.

TWIN

Madge Mr Monty 26M

We decided to start breeding more cows to Leon as he gets farther into his prime parts of life. I sold a full brother to Monty back in 2023, to Steve and Helen Madge. We really liked how that calf grew so I thought I would try to recreate it. It worked great just with a hair more birth weight, and a set of nuts that this calf wasn’t supposed to have. But 8H the dam of this bull has had bull calves 3 years in a row now. If you're looking to add some length and a bit more size to your calves Monty is your man.

Madge Mr Migiver

36M

36M is a Leon son off of one of my favourite younger Anchor D females in my herd. 290K has a very tight, level udder on her and she’s built round and sound just like we like them. 36M is a very wide topped bull, on a more moderate frame. He carries himself very smoothly when he travels, and is shaping up to be a bull that’ll cover a lot of miles. I was always fond of this calf throughout the summer months, he was one that always made you know that he was out there.

Madge Mr My-Oh-My 30M

My-Oh-My is a calf created in our AI program. Durango his sire is a bull that KSL Simmentals have had great success with. 30M is backed by the great late Antebellum cow that used to graze the pastures at JB Livestock, possibly one of the most notable cows. 2430 is off our BEE Scarlette cow, that is the deepest cow you’ll ever see, the amount of middle this old cow carries is ridiculous! If you're looking to produce those big middled, eye-catching steers that’ll have everyone going “My-Oh-My”, then look no further because this is the bull that’ll do that.

Madge

Mr Moo 35M

Heifer friendly, smooth made, nice headed and calving ease numbers at 11.4. Mr Moo is a more moderately made calf that started life off with a 74 pound birth-weight. I hate saying heifer bull but if I was to give my two cents on which bull could do it, I'd say 35M is the one. Off of a first calf heifer we purchased from Gilchrist Genetics as an open, the mating to Warsmoke worked very well for her first calf. Breed your heifers fleck, and be happy with your final product in the fall.

Munch is round, sound and low to the ground. This calf is quite the specimen, he may not be the largest framed in the group but he’d definitely be the widest. Munch's mother was one of our purchases from the Western Harvest in 2023, from the well respected breeders at Virginia Ranch. We’ve had huge success with our females from Harry and Michelle's program, a lot of the bulls in our offering have influence from the VIRS program. A polled Hoover, that gives up nothing. Mark this one down, he’s pretty special.

Here’s another Hoover from another Virginia Ranch purchase in 2023. I have come to realize that I have a good eye for picking the females pregnant with bulls from Harry and Michelle, 10/11 bulls to heifers from the bred females purchased from them over the years. Quick ROI most would say, but this calf as a heifer wouldn’t have hurt any haha. Michichi has more frame and a bit more growing room then the rest. Dark red, polled and ready to go into any breed of cows.

Madge Mr Manhattan

Here’s a bull that comes from another 2023 Western Harvest purchase from the progressive and friendly faces at Skywest Simmentals. When we saw Skywest Kleo on sale day I knew she needed to head East, a big powerful, loose hided female with loads of potential. When Kleo had Manhattan last winter, this calf had a lot of eye appeal from birth till current day. Big framed, long hair, sturdy foot and the only Cruz in our sale pen. Something new, unique and very special. Have a look at this guy, he’s pretty damn good!

Looking to add some size into your cow herd? 79M is the bull that’ll do just that, his dam 1809 is a large framed powerhouse of a cow, with a great udder. Medicine Man has great hair for our frigid temperatures, and the secret ingredient to be an influential breeding piece in any herd. 2479M weaned off at 656 lbs at only 177 days old. These younger aged calves really had to perform and look the part to get to stick around. Now owning his sire Chiniki, you can expect this young herd bull to mature well and be able to travel many miles in a breeding season without falling apart.

Continuing with the Chiniki sons with Miniki, off of Indian Song one of many cows from Jeff Bruketa. Born at the end of March, 78M has been a cool calf to watch mature. I’m excited to continue watching him grow in the months to come. - Polled - Smooth made - Wide topped - Large hind quarter Miniki may be young and if this was a real live auction he could quite possibly be the sleeper. Time will only show how good this calf actually is.

is

I suspect that with time this

70M is the only Leap calf in the entire catalogue. When I purchased the Jeff Bruketa herd, along with the cows we took Stag’s Leap and the other herd bull Chiniki. This calf is very solid from the ground up, with a great foot and easy moving when he gets out and moves. A polled outcross to most, and out of a promising young cow. Mumbo-Jumbo was a calf I didn’t overly notice at the beginning but he is really starting to come into his own now.

Madge Mr Mingo 84M

84M is the youngest bull in our offering, coming from the great JB CDN Azuridge 102C cow that we sold a flush off of in 2023! Mingos mother is a big time power cow, she would by far be the largest cow in the herd. A calf that will mature into a large framed, powerful sire one day. Solid footed, dark pigmented, and our only Citation bull calf on offer. Citation is a newer herd bull in the JB herd, and he is showing a lot of promise in his first calf crop.

Maternal Grand Dam

Madge Mr Machine 25M

To say we are happy with our Lewis 3200J bull would be an understatement. His first calf crop is strong on the bull front and all the way through the heifer pen. Between the calves we have and the ones our friends at Virginia Ranch have, it is hard to find any fault in the group. 2425 is big middled, smooth fronted, masculine and off of a very user friendly mama. Machine has always had that bull look to him, when 14G had this calf last year I knew he’d lead off our black Simmental group in the catalogue. Weaning off at 888 pounds, 25M should sire those high pound steers and keep your female end feminine and functionable

Monarch is a very dreamy looking calf, great hair, long spined and a true standout in the black simmental division. In amongst summer tours he was a bull that caught notice more than once. The Jewel cow is getting into some of her most productive years of production. If she can do this as a third calver, then I can’t wait to see what she will continue to do in the years to come. 53M comes with no guess work, just a turn out into the cows kind of bull. He’s going to calve great with his smooth shoulder and extra length whilst adding value with the added loin he carries and will hopefully add onto his progeny. If you like black hided, and a dual purpose female and steer maker, then look no further.

The last calf born to a cow that meant a lot to me. 19C was a female I purchased from the Beagle Dispersal back in 2018. This cow was a bull maker, having many sons that I’ve sold privately off the farm. Here's the first and last black hided son off of one hellova good cow. Moderately made, built right, and marked with that money stripe that we all have come to love. There’s a lot of value in this calf, and I know that the new owners will be happy to watch this bull mature and leave a huge influence behind.

A very stylish son of 3200J, that has a bit of extra spine and top to him. Magnum is a bull that stands out more the more you look at him. His mother is an honest hard working Cobra daughter that always lays down and has a very exciting calf. She’s moderately framed with a beautiful udder, giving me reason to think that the 34M daughters should turn into some pretty special cows one day. His sons should hold good value with the extra loin 2434M carries, adding pounds and the easy calving abilities to his progeny.

Fundraiser 70 years of friendship

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( ALS ) ( Lou Gehrig's disease )

I first set eyes on my forever best friend MarlaLee (McFayden) Martin) when I was 5. We started Gr 1 together in Hanna AB. This friendship spanned 74 years and sadly ended with the untimely passing of my dearest friend in Feb 2024 from aggressive ALS. In Gr 7, the McFayden family moved to Airdrie where her father's job was. I missed her so much and we did keep in touch. Later on when we both were married, we reconnected when her and husband Don Martin & their family moved to Calgary. My husband Phil and our family enjoyed many visits. During this amazing friendship we enjoyed birthday parties, play dates, attending Alliance Youth Fellowship at the Alliance Church in Hanna. Church was an important part of our life. MarlaLee was an accomplished pianist and played in church. On a few occasions we could be talked into singing.

One more move for the Martin's took them to Kelowna BC. We both made many trips back & forth to visit, just like our many trips to Hawaii, along the way all our children became good friends too. Her & I always made sure we visited at least twice a year. Not many people can say they've had an amazing best friend for 74 years. And I thank God for putting her in my life for all those years, and leaving me with sooo many memories. Losing you to ALS has been one of the hardest thing in my life.

Rest in Peace my dearest friend. Till we meet again.

Judi Madge

DONATIONS

Madge Simmentals will be donating the avergae price for one bull on the 2025 sale year to ALS. Please reach out to Tanner if you would like to Donate!

WHAT IS ALS?

''Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (also known as ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, or motor neuron disease) is a disease that progressively paralyzes people because the brain is no longer able to communicate with the muscles of the body that we are typically able to move at will. Over time, as the muscles of the body break down, someone living with ALS will lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe.''

''ALS is not contagious. There is no cure for ALS and few treatment options for the majority of people living with the disease. Approximately 80 per cent of people with ALS die within two to five years of being diagnosed.''

''The ALS Society of Alberta is the only provincial organization dedicated to making each day the best possible day for people living with and affected by ALS. The ALS Society achieves its mission by providing support, facilitating the provision of care, promoting awareness, helping find a cure and advocating for change. ''

''Every donation goes toward fulfilling the Society’s mission, by providing the best possible support for those living with ALS in Alberta through the equipment loan program, support groups, home visits, referrals and support for children.''
