Mad Cow Theatre Mad Cow Theatre was founded on the belief that the theatre is a dynamic and powerful means of social understanding, as well as a hugely entertaining art form. Through the combination of passionate, skillful acting and compelling, insightful writing, nurtured by an attentive and ever-changing process, Mad Cow presents entertaining works of theatre to an ever-widening audience — promoting, enhancing and celebrating the human condition through art. Mad Cow Theatre is supported in part with public funds from the United Arts of Central Florida, host of power2give. org/CentralFlorida and the Collaborative Campaign for the Arts, and by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture, the Florida Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Downtown Development Board, and Orange County through the Arts & Cultural Affairs Program. A great nation deserves great art! Mad Cow is a 501(c)(3) organization and welcomes all donations including funds, materials, time and good will. Ain’t Misbehavin’ FATS WALLER was born Thomas Wright Waller on May 21, 1904 in New York City. The youngest of 11 children, he began to play the piano at age 6. Waller’s father was a minister who allowed his son to hone his gift on the pipe organ in his church but objected to his pursuit of a career in music. Despite his father’s objections, Fats Waller went on to become a pianist/singer/songwriter, achieving critical and commercial success in both the US and Europe. Musically, Waller is known for his innovation of the Harlem stride-piano style, which would lay the groundwork for modern jazz piano. His lyrics highlighted a philosophy of pleasure and play that would become synonymous with his legacy. Waller contracted pneumonia and died on December 15, 1943 at the age of 39. Thirty years later, Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr. conceived an idea for a musical revue that would bring to life the momentous years of Waller’s career and the Harlem Renaissance that he fueled. The musical Ain’t Misbehavin’ opened on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre on May 9, 1978 and closed four years later after 1,600 performances. The production won the Tony award for Best Musical and starred Irene Cara, Nell Carter, Andre DeShields, Armelia McQueen, and Ken Page. A Broadway revival was staged in 1988 as well as a national tour in 1995 starring the Pointer Sisters.

2014 - 2015 Donors

United Arts Donor Recognition – 2014 United Arts of Central Florida is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the one-stop-shop to support the arts, sciences and history in Central Florida. Donations are tax-deductible to the limit allowed by law. United Arts serves more than 50 cultural institutions and artists by raising and distributing funds, by securing and facilitating contracts for services including vital pre-K to 12th grade educational programming and by providing management, administrative and advisory services. Now in our 25th year of service to our community, and through the generosity of our Trustees and other donors, United Arts has invested more than $131 million in local arts and cultural organizations and education, and through them, the diverse and energetic community that is Central Florida. We are deeply grateful to all of our donors and community partners for their investment in this industry of creativity and service.
