Finding a new employee can be a full-time job. Getting that new employee to succeed in the position is another story. It takes dedicated, ongoing efforts to truly prepare your new hire for success at your organization.
Join CIS’ HR professionals and Pre-Loss employment attorneys in this year’s Spring Supervisor Training where you’ll get a bird’s-eye view of the various employment laws and employee relations principles. This critical training will help guide your decision-making during recruiting, onboarding, and as you supervise a new employee during their probationary/trial service period (and beyond). And it wouldn’t be a CIS Pre-Loss training without discussing what to do if, despite your best efforts, your new employee isn’t working out. This training covers skills that are essential for new managers/supervisors but is also informative for those experienced supervisors wanting to revitalize and enhance their onboarding and team-building skills.
INSTRUCTORS (dependent on location)
Sharon Harris, Senior Consultant – Human Resources & Organizational Development
Katie Kammer, Senior Pre-Loss Employment Attorney
Cindy Lin, Pre-Loss Employment Attorney
Tamara Russell, Deputy General Counsel
This training is designed for supervisors and managers at all levels who want to strengthen their approach to recruiting, onboarding, and supervising new employees. Whether you’re a new supervisor looking to build foundational skills or an experienced leader seeking to refine and enhance your team-building strategies, this session will provide valuable insights.
Human Resources professionals and those involved in employee relations will also benefit from this training, gaining a deeper understanding of legal considerations, best practices, and proactive strategies for setting employees and your organization up for success.
$30 for CIS Members. Lunch is included as well as beverages throughout the training. Travel, lodging and additional meal expenses are the responsibility of the CIS Member.
If you’ve paid your registration fee, but are unable to attend, we encourage you to send a substitute. If you cannot send a substitute, CIS will refund 100 percent of your registration fees if written notice is received at least seven days prior to the training.
If your registration was not paid and you cancel with less than seven days’ notification, CIS will bill the balance due. Cancellations are not accepted by phone. They must be submitted by email to learn@cisoregon.org, or you can drop the class by using the CIS Learning Center.
Please note that each session will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch during the session. Space is limited, and additional sessions will not be offered, so we encourage you to sign up early to secure your spot!
Need to register staff members? Individuals with administrative access to the system can use the instructions for organization managers or direct managers to enroll staff using the Register option.
You can also send an email to learn@cisoregon.org with your request on this template on or after 02-21-2025. Responses will be processed in the order received within one business day. However, availability is not guaranteed at the time of processing.
