DIRECTOR STATEMENT:
"Becoming Human" questions whether a human being can actually ever be "normal" or even “perfect” at all. We all have flaws, secrets, instincts, desires we are trying to suppress, but eventually they will come out- whether we like it or not. What is normal anyway? And is it worth it, trying to fit in at all costs?
Envision a world where the status quo is challenged and long-held stereotypes dismantled. What if a shift in mindset could pave the way for a new narrative?

DIRECTOR STATEMENT:
"Pink Me Blue" criticises beauty standards and gender rules we have and quietly accept in our society in a humorous kind of way. Why do people buy pink clothes and toys straight away when a baby girl is born and why do they decide for blue without thinking further about it when it's a baby boy? How come everyone is constantly trying to look as young as possible? Who says what's attractive or not? "Pink Me Blue" shows a world, in which things are exactly the other way around: men have to wear pink, women have to wear blue and looking as old as possible is considered to be beautiful. I chose to tell the story with many different elements and as a genre mix to focus on the bizarreness of the world we live in. There is also a little reference to a fairytale in the film...can you spot it?
The Funeral Dancer
“The Funeral Dancer" navigates the life of "Jazz," a skilled funeral entertainer thriving in a world where funerals symbolize social prestige. In this realm, these ceremonies are not only obligatory but also serve as platforms for entertainment, with Jazz responsible for captivating and engaging attendees during these poignant gatherings.
Expectations are high, morals are low. While Jazz tries to entertain the mourners, she is forced to face severe problems of her own.

Peacock symbolism
PEACOCK SYMBOLISM IN "THE FUNERAL DANCER"***AS MOST CHARACTERS IN "THE FUNERAL DANCER" ARE NOT VERY SELF-AWARE AND IGNORANT WHEN IT COMES TO THE REASON WHY THEY ARE THERE- HONOURING A DEAD PERSON- THE PEACOCK SEEMED TO BE GOOD CONTRAST. THE PEACOCK IS A POSSESSOR OF SOME OF THE MOST ADMIRED HUMAN CHARACTERISTICS, AND IS A SYMBOL OF INTEGRITY AND THE BEAUTY WE CAN ACHIEVE WHEN WE ENDEAVOR TO SHOW OUR TRUE COLORS.IN HISTORY, MYTH, LEGEND AND LORE, THE PEACOCK SYMBOLISM CARRIES PORTENTS OF: NOBILITY, HOLINESS, GUIDANCE, PROTECTION AND WATCHFULNESS.THE PEACOCK IS ASSOCIATED WITH KWAN-YIN IN ASIAN SPIRITUALITY. KWAN-YIN (OR QUAN YIN) IS ALSO AN EMBLEM OF LOVE, COMPASSIONATE WATCHFULNESS, GOOD-WILL, NURTURING, AND KIND-HEARTEDNESS.LEGEND TELLS US SHE CHOSE TO REMAIN A MORTAL EVEN THOUGH SHE COULD BE IMMORTAL BECAUSE SHE WISHED TO STAY BEHIND AND AID HUMANITY IN THEIR SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION.SO WE PICKED THE COLORS OF THE PEACOCK THROUGHOUT THE FILM AS WELL AS SOME PEACOCK SYMBOLS LIKE FEATHERS TO SHOW THAT EVEN THOUGH THESE PEOPLE ARE LIVING IN A TECHNOLOGY-DRIVEN SOCIETY THAT SEEMS TO BLIND THEM, NOT ALL IS LOST. THE PEACOCK WILL PROTECT THEM AND EVENTUALLY GUIDE THEM IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO BECOME MORE COMPASSIONATE AND AWARE OF PEOPLE THAT SURROUND THEM.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT:
"The Funeral Dancer" describes a society that makes every situation in life a social event. Funerals have become a prestigious event in a family's life and are celebrated like a big pop concert- all that counts are followers and entertaining the funeral guests. Emotions have become rare in this social media obsessed society. Although many scenes in the film are exaggerated, pretty much everything is inspired by things I experienced, read or heard of in real life.
A Universal Love Story
"In a distant future dominated by selfabsorption, 'A Universal Love Story' explores the quest for human connection.
This sci-fi experimental drama in Esperanto delves into the challenge of finding love in an impersonal world. As the memory of love endures, hope arises for a chance at rekindling it, sometimes requiring a miraculous intervention from another universe to ignite a revolution."

IMANY THINGS IN HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS SEEM STRANGE ANDALIEN. ALIEN IS A KEYWORD HERE, EXPLORED BY NATALIE MACMAHON IN A VERY INSPIRED AND CREATIVE WAY. THERE IS NOTHING MORE STRANGE THAN FINDING LOVE WHERE IT WASN’T BEFORE OR SEEING IT FADE AND DISAPPEAR KNOWING HOW DEEP IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING.FROM COMPLETE HAPPINESS TO UTTER DESPAIR, "A UNIVERSAL LOVE STORY" REFLECTS ON THE WAY THESE SITUATIONS DEVELOP IN A FICTIONAL SETTING STILL BEING DEVELOPED: THE FUTURE AND ITS AESTHETICS, HERE SEEN IN A VERY POSITIVE LIGHT. "A UNIVERSAL LOVE STORY" IS DIFFERENT, IS ALIVE AND IS FILLED WITH HOPE. ROMANCE CAN DEVELOP ANYWHERE, AND THE BEAUTIFUL FUTURE DEVELOPED IN THE MIND OF MACMAHON SEEMS TO BE BRIGHT, SOCIAL AND POSITIVE, THREE THINGS WE SHOULD WORK HARD TO ACHIEVE BY THEN.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT:
I chose Esperanto as the main language for this film, because it helps the idea of creating something universal in an unknown future, spreading love around the world and making people communicate with each other again. And who knows maybe in the future Esperanto will take over the world! I think it’s a beautiful language with a lot of potential.
As Aven delves into a captivating virtual reality game, an encounter with an enigmatic redhead blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, leaving him questioning what's truly real.

THE PLOT IS AN ELLIPTICAL DAY-TO-DAY OF A “CALL CENTER” TYPE OF BUSINESS, ONE THAT ACTS AS A HOTLINE SERVICE FOR WOMEN WHO FEEL STALKED OR IN DANGER WHILE WALKING ALONE AT NIGHT. SIMULTANEOUSLY, ONE EMPLOYEE SPENDS HIS DOWNTIME IN A VIRTUAL REALITY SIMULATION.
THE FILM SPIRALS TOWARD ITS FEVERISH NIGHTCLUB CONCLUSION, IN WHICH THE PROTAGONIST’S INFATUATION WITH THE GIRL FROM THE SIMULATION BLEEDS INTO REALITY, WHERE THE MAN WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE ACTING AS A BARRIER FOR PREDATORS IN FACT BECOMES THE PREDATOR HIMSELF. INTERCUT WITH SCENES OF HIM AT WORK IN FINDING THE CLIENT’S LOCATION, THIS CONCLUSION SERVES AS A FINAL TESTAMENT TO THE FILM’S POWER. IT CONFRONTS THE ISSUE OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT/PREDATION IN A DISTANCED, ALMOST CLINICAL, WAY. DECENT ACTING, CINEMATOGRAPHY, AND AN ENGAGING ELECTRONIC SCORE ASIDE, IT IS ULTIMATELY THE DIRECTING THAT MAKES "THE REDHEAD" SUCCESSFUL IN WHAT IT SETS OUT TO DO.
MACMAHON’S FILM IS AN EFFECTIVE STUDY OF OBSESSIVE ATTRACTION DUE TO ITS TECHNICAL ARTISTRY, PRESENTING ITS STORY IN A WAY THAT AVOIDS CONVENTIONALITY FROM THE START.
Lola's fascination with hitchhiking and fabricating identities offers her an exhilarating escape. But when an unexpected connection challenges her perception, she starts seeing herself in a new light.

Review- Oaxaca Film Festival:
"Lola wants to see the sea" is an aesthetic and original reflection on anonymity and thrill
” ."This film is original and offers something very interesting visually. The use of a photography in the background, the choice of the black & white, the cinematography of the short. It all combines to create something unique that definitely appeals to the audience. It creates curiosity. It changes. The story and the idea at its core is interesting and definitely original."
A Violent Noise
“This is an unusual love story under very unusual circumstances. In a world where real human voices can be downloaded onto a humanoid robot, there is no need to meet a partner in real life. But what if that relationship with your artificial partner seems so authentic that you end up falling in love, but the voice sample download is about to time out? Time to say goodbye?
Directors
Statement:
I wanted to explore the contrast of people who are not able to communicate with real humans, but at the same time are longing for some kind of connection to somebody. Even a humanoid robot and a voice sample that has been downloaded for a limited amount of time, can seem so real that love is possible after all.
But what's really hidden deep down inside is the desire and longing for a true connection and the fear of being left alone. I wanted to put this technology driven world in contrast to nature: a forest- animals- plants- fresh air. The fantasy elements with animals that seem very human and the forest, which acts almost like another character turn this very emotional drama into a bitter-sweet modernday fairy-tale. But will they all live happily ever after? Find out yourself!

It's getting darker every day
"IT'S GETTING DARKER EVERY
In a world deprived of light, a young woman, accustomed to dwelling in darkness for years, counts down the moments until she sees daylight again.
For Alina, a hardworking young woman, the day has arrived when she feels like she's hit the jackpot—a chance to escape the darkness for a full day. As she anticipates the beginning of her adventure, conflicting emotions make her question whether this experience, promising to alter her life, will bring ultimate joy or if continuing without it might be better.

Director Statement:
"It's getting darker every day" is a film that leaves a lot of room for different interpretations and makes the audience constantly wonder what has really happened and what is going to happen. Has "Alina" gone crazy yet? Why is she on her own? And what about that baby that we never see, but keep hearing? Is it all in her head? While trying to figure out her world, we experience the same, the constant sensation of darkness and the only source of light Alina has: a match that only provides her with enough light for a few seconds at a time.
Skeleton Tiger
In a futuristic setting, consuming meat is outlawed, leading to punishment akin to zoo captivity. During the annual "Skeleton Tiger Day," a fortunate participant in a live event seizes an opportunity to alter their destiny.
"Skeleton Tiger" is a surreal eco-punk sci-fi drama about the absurd circus of humanity, in which humans believe to be superior until they have a moment of realisation, which often comes too late.

Director Statement: Environmental issues and protecting the environment are themes that are very close to my heart. I often wonder what it would be like if things were different and like in my film animals were treated with much more respect, eating meat would be considered a crime. With "Skeleton Tiger" I wanted to make an environmentally-themed film that is not typical and although it tackles a serious topic, it is ironic and not too dramatic.

Director Statement:
I"The Man Who Couldn't Cry" makes me lose all sense of time and dream a little bit as well. In a way it is a timeless fairytale, which I find intriguing. I have always been fascinated by tears and by what happens when people cry and so I had to make a film about it.
Stephen Patrick Hannah was the actor that I had in mind when I wrote the script and luckily he accepted and made this man who never cried a tear in his life come alive. I'm also pleased that the talented Irish Singer & Songwriter Robert Delaney composed a wonderful soundtrack for this film.
A Disease Called Love (Malsano Nomata Amo)
“This is not a love story, It is a story about love. It is an anti-love story about a society, in which love has become a crime as it is considered to be an infectious disease and Esperanto is a forbidden language, only used by those who don’t follow the rules despite all consequences.

People do irrational things when they are in love, but at the same time it is one of the best feelings one could have. I thought it would be interesting to find out what a society might be like if suddenly love is considered to be a disease and everything connected to love is forbidden. As I have done a film project in Esperanto before and spend a lot of time researching the language, I thought it is a good fit that also Esperanto will become a forbidden language in this society in the future, because it is connected to feelings and our emotional side. But as always, when things are forbidden, people find their way to do what they want to do.
Senses
Within the confines of a shared building, three solitary souls lead lives centered around routine. When their predictable rhythms are disrupted, can they weather the storm or will their worlds unravel entirely?
Anna, Martin, and Leander perceive life through distinct senses, cherishing one sense above all.

Director Statement: "Senses" is a mini series meaning it's an episodic story told in three episodes. I was interested in the routine people have and what would happen if that routine is interrupted. Each of the three characters have a certain routine that make them feel safe and comfortable. One day something changes and they all find it hard to deal with this small change of their habits.
