Behind the work Mackenzie works at his easel using pure pigment chalk pastels from a warm, rich palette, creating all his pieces by hand. His authentic imagery, and delicate strokes are imbued with an honesty - a signature element of Mackenzie’s work.

In ‘Bless your Heart’, a tranquil landscape is depicted, but there is reason to look into this piece further. Mackenzie uses a red heart, held by a small duffel coat figure. Despite their size, their presence, and the vibrancy of the red makes all the difference to this captivating artwork.
