Page 1

DEAR BOOKSELLER

The end of the first school term is here! We know you were all very busy filling all the textbook gaps in schools for this year.

Update - New Foundation Phase Books

With the second school term starting on 8 April, you must prepare for a very busy but exciting time. New Foundation books are coming, but we can’t reveal much yet. We submitted all conditionally approved titles with the changes as requested by the Department of Education. We hope to have the final results early in April and will share the news with you soon after. Stay tuned – you won’t want to miss this!

A Bright Future for Early Childhood Development (ECD)

ECD has been in the spotlight recently. At the ECD Leadership Summit on 17 March, President Cyril Ramaphosa emphasised the government’s commitment to expanding ECD institutions. Additionally, the Finance Minister allocated R10 billion towards ECD in the latest budget speech – an exciting opportunity for publishers and booksellers! In this issue, we’ll highlight the Macmillan ECD products available to support this growing sector.

International Insights

Our colleagues Antoinette De Vries and Kilayne Pelser recently attended the London Book Fair, where they connected with agencies we represent in South Africa. Their insights will help us bring even more value to our partnerships. (See Pg.6)

New TVET FIRST approvals

We are proud to announce the approval of Cost and Management Accounting N5, Nutrition and Menu Planning N4, as well as Sanitation Safety and Housekeeping N4 textbooks. (More info on Pg.9)

Thank You for Joining Us!

A big thank you to everyone who attended our virtual bookseller get-together! We loved putting this event together, and your positive feedback means the world to us. Congratulations to the winners of the three Coffee Makers – perfect for keeping warm as winter approaches! (See photos on Pg.7)

We look forward to an exciting second term ahead!

Regards,

The Macmillan Team
