Massachusetts St. is the downtown core of Lawrence. It attracts people of all ages due to the abundance of local shops, restaurants, and bars.
Lawrence is missing a third space besides a restaurant or a bar. There are a few art galleries in the area, but the goal of this project was to create an alternative place for students to have a night out, where locals can host events with friends and family, and to raise up regional talent.
Luminous is an art gallery that explores the relationship between light and dark which symbolizes the unique experiences within a community. The gallery will feature engaging visual arts and events that invite visitors to explore the aspects of art within their community.

Summer 2024
Christopher Kennedy Inc.
707 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Suite 8
Palm Springs, CA

Purpose: Gain real life work experience in a professional setting. Internships give students a taste of the world post-grad, allowing them to enhance learned skills and “practice” working in an office.
Function: Building relationships with professionals and shadowing how they go about their day-to-day, assisting in office tasks, attending meetings, and applying skills from studio into a real and living operation.

This project was a conversion from 2D to 3D. I was given an AutoCAD floor plan, as well as a sketch with counter and kitchen dimensions, From this, I used Revit to create the walls, flooring, ceiling, custom cabinetry, then added in appliances, fixtures, and materials. The goal of this project was to give a client a rendered image of what CK had in mind for the space.

After purchasing two condos, these clients wanted to renovate them into a luxurious haven for their own clients. This was also converted into 3D and rendered from a floor plan with the associated dimensions, symbols, and specs. I was given the finishes and fixtures and translated them into something the clients could better visualize.

These dimension plans were compiled into a document and sent to a cabinet maker.

In the same condo, a new and revamped kitchen was needed. I helped in reconfiguring the layout, keeping essential plumbing in the same space but moving some electrical to change the placement of the range. Since there were two condos, two kitchens were built out, each with its own unique look.

The bathroom renovation didn’t stop with the vanitythe toilet and shower area was fully remodeled. I was given materials and finishes for each respective unit, and built from a 2D plan and rendered with textures to show clients.

Fall 2023

Purpose: Understand the development, construction, and finishing of furniture pieces, and implement sustainable practices when possible.
Function: Furniture case studies, historical precedents, and a hands-on approach to building in a workshop environment, with use of wood shop equipment like table saws, drill presses, etc.

This project involved designing a piece of furniture from scratch, figuring out how it would be constructed, and executing these instructions to make a physical piece. Multiple stages were involved, focusing on design, purpose, planning of construction, and putting it all together. This involved the use of a chop saw and a drill press, as well as making a scaled template in Adobe Illustrator (shown as the white circle with red dots) that was overlaid on the circular wood pieces.

December 2023-January 2024
Seoul, South Korea
Osaka and Tokyo, Japan

Purpose: Immerse students in new forms of design, construction, and culture. Experiencing a foreign culture not only inspires future work, but also makes you a more well-rounded person, with a broader worldview and appreciation for travel and the beauty of our planet.
Function: Through immersion into the cuisine, art, history, customs, food, and architecture, students will return home with a new appreciation for a foreign place, taking their memories with them and applying them to future projects - and life.
After 22 hours of travel time, we finally landed in Korea. One off the bus, we had arrived at our hotel, right in the bustling Gangnam district. Throughout our trip, we were constantly on the move, being whisked through high-tech subways, soaking in everything we could in this metropolis. I was dazzled by the modern developments around the city, with ancient temples being surrounded by skyscrapers. The interior architecture of the places we toured was chic, with a distinctly Korean flair. We were very lucky to spend time with some local architecture students, who welcomed us with open arms and made our trip so much more memorable. I left here with such a new love for Korea, and I can’t wait to return.
Truly a wish come true for young me, Japan was everything I hoped it would be. From the food, convenience stores, historic cities, cars, and trains, I was in love. We flew into Osaka, taking in many sights like the Umeda Sky Building, and a trip to ancient Kyoto to round out our time there. We then took the bullet train to Tokyo (and spotted Mt. Fuji on the way), where we were immersed in this immense city. From sampling new food, to traversing the famous Shibuya crossing, this trip did not disappoint. I am so grateful to have been able to go on this trip, and I have missed it every day since then. Dream come true!

THANK YOU

I appreciate you taking the time to review my portfolio. It is not a comprehensive journal of everything I’ve done, but highlights the transformation through my years of schooling. I hope to bring the skills I’ve learned into a professional setting, grow on them, and make a difference wherever I land. A valuable lesson I’ve picked up at school (and through life) is how much of a difference human connection really makes. From the friends I’ve met in studio that I cherish, to the lasting connection I made with my internship host family, the people I have met along this journey have shown me the outstanding value of connecting with others. I hope to build these strong relationships in my professional life, as there is no architecture without people.
Architecture and Interior Design are incredibly personal fields of study. The built environment must not only fit the needs of its occupants, but exceed them, inspiring those who witness it. My goal post-grad is to work to make spaces where people feel truly at home, with their personal style and needs reflected and honored. I hope to be a guiding force in improving their quality of life where they spend the most time. I aim to be a personal connection to them, not just a designer, using what I know to create beautiful, comfortable, and functional places. I am so excited to begin my professional journey, and even more excited to make a positive impact in the lives around me.
