REPORT OF ENDONAMOO TRANSFORMATION GLOBAL INITIATIVE’s (ETGIN) ACTIVITIES compiled by John Oluwafemi Olla (Focal Person) PURPOSE OF THE REPORT In line with the action plan of the CSCSD as agreed by the house and the executive. The purpose of putting together this report is to highlight some of the activities of ETGIN (Member Organization) tailored towards achieving the objectives as started by CSCSD team. ISSUES During the general meeting of CSCSD held at the CESDEV Bodija Ibadan, the following were part of the objectives or actions point listed out: ▪
Design a way of Incorporating SDGs into our programmes as member of the Coalition
▪
Develop strategies of creating awareness about SDGs and how it relates to our audiences
▪
Design means of incorporating SDGs awareness survey into our programmes
▪
Device a means of promoting SDGs using all social media available (TVs, Radio, Online Media and so no)
ETGIN CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ACHIEVEMENT OF CSCSD OBJECTIVES/ACTION POINTS STATED IN THE ACTION PLAN: The following are the various ways in which my team and I are using in achieving the started action plans. Youth Speak Loud Public Lecture Incorporation of SDGs awareness into our programmes: On 17th April 2018 ETGIN as an organization; represented by John Oluwafemi Olla (Oyo State Deputy Coordinator CSCSD) was able to incorporate SDGs awareness into her Public Lecture organized by 1 Compiled by John Oluwafemi Olla | 07030658304 | www.iambezaleel.com.ng
one of their initiative called Youth Speak Loud on Youth Civic Engagement, Human Right and Peace. During the programme the concept of SDGs was introduced to the audience (rural youth from several communities in Akinyele Local Government) of 70 youths in attendance. The concept of SDGs was explained to them in their own context i.e. localizing SDGs to the problem at hand. Present at the programme were professionals in all areas such as Barr Adedokun Caleb who spoke on Defending once right without crossing the line, Director of National Orientation Agency office in Moniya, who spoke on “the need for youth to participate in the development of their communities, Voting and voting processes”, Focal Person of Coalition of CSOs working on Peace and Sustainable Community etc Workshop for Artisans on how to run a sustainable business On 7th May 2018, team ETGIN was able to train association of barbers on how to run a sustainable business using the concept of sustainable development and introducing SDGs to them. The training was lead by Mr. John Oluwafemi Olla and was supported by Mr. Wale Isaiah, a business development strategist The Mentors’ Conference The team also carried out a conference for student from age 12 to 18 in the quest to bridge educational gaps between the urban and rural children as 200 students were gathered from various school to commemorate the Children's Day on 25th May 2018 and the platform was also used to educate the children to know more about SDGs as it concerns their education, nutrition, gender, inclusion etc. Speakers: Dr Kosoko Joseph (UCH), a MediPrenuer, Com Ishau Olalekan, a business strategist, Mr. Oduwale Abiodun and Mr. John Oluwafemi an Iformation Scientist, Motivator and programme convener. 2. Publicity and Media Apart from airing the interview of the programmes above on Amuludun FM 99.1, the programmes were properly reported online through most of the major social media platforms and was also reported on an online news platform called atoz.com.ng. The focal person of the organization has been invited to several speaking engagement where he has spoken largely about Sustainable Development SDGs, Youth Civic Engagement, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Partnership for the goal: The CSOs’ call. OUR INFORMAL RECOMMENDATION Capacity Development: when it comes to capacity development trainings it is cleared that CSCSD as a team is blessed with competent hands in the house, all that is needed is to highlight members’ development needs and the house can explore the expertise of those that are knowledgeable in the identified areas to provide trainings on pro Bono basis. We suggest: Mr. Sola as a fantastic trainer, Coordinator, Deputy Coordinator, and other members of the group Publicity and Media: CSCSD can start her own online mini TV show for awareness, grant short minute interviews, create video clips etc. CSCSD can even start with all the sustainable development goals and stitch them together. This is not abstract as this has been done before at ETGIN and we believe, we can be of help to the media team on this.
