abutting dufferin mall lays an abundance of new developments that builds upon the old heritage and history. it offers an opportunity to cherish and celebrate the old kent senior public school by proposing a high school aligned with the urban fabric and responsive to the ever-evolving environment.

dufferin grove offers a rich mix of social opportunities that keep the community engaged. however, with the lack of connections between each social hub, it remains hidden.

dufferin heights bridges this gap integrating education, play, learn, and community together.

amherst island is a rural isolated place that lays within the loyalist township, home to many agricultural lands, local communities, and rich biodiversity. this project is a reflection of the one on one experiences and interactions taken within the community - through several interviews and hands on site visits - addressing local needs while cherishing the islands identity.

the island is peacefully quiet, primarily populated with elders and small families. its isolation prompts challenges of its own regarding human activity, accessibility, flooding, and change.
