New haulage team drawing upon over 30 years of experience Along with the opening of the new Lynch material rail hub we are also delighted to announce a new haulage team with collectively over 30 years experience within the industry.

The team has been handpicked to incorporate a national CPC holder, a highly experienced Transport Manager and a fully established sales force.

The experience the team brings will allow Lynch Haulage to develop to the next level without losing the quality of service the customer expects.

Where we differ from other companies is we can offer a ‘cradle to grave’ service that is all carried out in house, thus we have sole control of all aspects from lorries and haulage to waste

solutions and tips. As a company we are now stronger than ever across the board which allows all of our clients the luxury of using one phone number for everything.

Lynch commended for Supplier of the Year Award 2012 Lynch is pleased to announce that it has been commended for the Supplier of the Year Award 2012 at the Barhale HS & E Conference and Annual Awards, held on Wednesday 7th November.

Lynch Plant Hire & HAULAGE — Meeting Hire Demands

Lynch secures further Crossrail Tunnel Work Lynch transport have secured yet more works for BFK on the Crossrail Project moving tunnel segments from Old Oak Common to Westbourne Park.

Using Lynch Lorries with 45’ trailers the segments are taken on a pre-planned route which is endorsed

by Crossrail to cause the minimum of disruption. The works will last into 2014 and the operation runs seven days per week.

Gillian Byrne Traffic & Logistics Coordinator for BFK said “Both sites have stressed how helpful the guys have been on both ends of loading and offloading segments. “I would like to pass this positive feedback onto Lynch and hope that this continues going forward.”

E-learning arrives at Lynch Plant Lynch have invested in e-learning to keep staff up to date with procedure changes, to deliver briefings in a more interesting and interactive way and to help to develop the skills of the staff by introducing a number of courses covering health & safety, environmental awareness, sales training and product knowledge.

It also allows the management to keep a track of the training needs of the Lynch Plant staff and focus on their potential weaknesses.

Courses come in multiple choice questions and answers which are randomised so that each student doesn’t get the same questions all the time, with a forum module allowing students to discuss the course with fellow students and to get help if they are stuck. Students can also give feedback from the course or briefing, thus giving the company’s management the opportunity to learn from ground level about changes in company systems which could be improved to produce better results companywide. Staff can do these courses at their terminals, at work or in the comfort of their own homes.

Operations Manager Mark Kennedy commented: “the new e-learning software will help Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage have a better understanding of staff training needs. This will ensure that staff who are not always based in Head Office, such as operators who work in all parts of the country, are briefed correctly (and we can prove they have been), with the aim of reducing risk and helping us Meet Hire Demands.”

Marlow’s Movember on the One Show During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on many men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer. We congratulate Jamie Marlow, Hire Manager, for his effort in raising monies for this cancer charity and having his moustache shaved off on the One Show by comedian Peter Kaye. Haulage system goes digital As a company we are striving to provide the best possible service for our customers.

We have employed the best people and have bought the best machinery and vehicles.

In line with the vision of the company, it is imperative to provide a service level that is efficient and cost effective and maximises cash flow while offering even higher levels of service for the customer. This capitalises on our experience and uses technology as a tool for the business.

Whilst having industry-leading staff, a lot of time is spent on aftersales / customer queries rather than promoting the business and expanding our haulage footprint.

We are working with Coldgate (a systems provider and one of the leading businesses in this sector) who will provide a package initially designed for haulage and also standard checklists which can easily and costeffectively be incorporated into the plant hire side of the business. A critical success factor for this innovation will be reduced ticket processing time (sent direct via email if the client requires, or daily and weekly summary reports for what they have had).

This process will ensure there are no lost tickets, POD/POC tickets are available instantly so there will never be a chance of any grey areas as to what has happened on site and ensure we are keeping up with the site’s demands.

Success: Single point data entry follows through from order to invoice allowing turnkey changes in the way data is administrated and processed.

Measured by: Changing the processing role from an input role to a report and check role. The administrator will review the information and flag problems and issues before they are invoiced.

Key result: Visible reduction in invoice queries from customers as simple mistakes through data entry are completely avoided.

Lynch opens a near miss anonymous reporting portal It is the company policy, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974 to provide, within the framework of the law, good practice and industry standards, safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems of work for all our employees. We are committed to providing sufficient resources to carry out the policy arrangements.

We work hard to achieve the standards required and a culture for the health and safety of other people who may be affected by company activities.

It is with this in mind Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage has installed a Confidential Incident Reporting portal which can be accessed anonymously via the Lynch website.

If you have a health and safety concern or just want to bring an unsafe or near miss incident to our attention, either anonymously or openly then report it here and now.

Lynch Plant Director and Head of Health & Safety Rob Lynch said: “We are committed to the improvement of health, Safety and environment performance through the continuing development of a culture of ‘zero tolerance to unsafe acts’ among our workforce. The success of this programme will be measured through a reduction in RIDDOR accidents, near misses and incidents. “ “We wish to develop and implement a simple-to-understand safety, health and environment meeting structure from ‘top to bottom’ of the company.

To do this we need to recognise the contribution of individuals through implementation of an improved safety and environmental system and to improve the practice of safety communication and briefing, by empowering staff and sub-contractor to report unsafe acts or incidents to continually to learn and improve as a business.”

Mark has joined our Rusden depot team as a Hire Controller. He has come from Travis Perkins’ group hire office, based in Northampton, where he spent two years as a supervisor for the plant and tool department.

Barry has joined Lynch to head our Direct Solutions division. Previously he ran a tools re-hire company which he sold in Feb 2012. His experience in this sector should see the division go from strength to strength.

Luke LeCoyte Luke has been in hire for over 20 years working as a depot manager, Network Plant as Senior Hire Negotiator, Gilmac Plant and MPG Group as Plant Manager. Luke has joined the Direct Solutions team and will use his experience to help it operate at its maximum potential.

Lynch Plant uses PIMSS software to maintain high operator competency standards Lynch Plant links up with PIMSS, a product which has been developed

by Joyce Software Services to manage the competency of the workforce within the construction industry. The system is internet based and collates information on Qualifications, Training Needs and PPE. Warning alerts let administrators know when qualifications have expired in advance. A robust reporting module presents information in different formats.

Included within this module is a Feedback Survey Questionnaire which the client can complete.

Lynch Plant Operations Manager Mark Kennedy said: “the feedback we get back from the client be it good or bad, can help us make a true assessment of training needs for our workforce, it then makes it easier to match the right operator to the right type of work. Ben Haines Ben joins us from Killoughery Ltd as Haulage Sales Manager having previously spent six years at GRS Roadstone Ltd. Ben has a strong knowledge of recycled aggregates and their usages together with removal of contaminated soils.

We also welcome Lianne Vidal and Chanelle Pardue to the Haulage Administration team, Amy Wickes as Damages Administrator and Laura Sloane as Assistant Buyer.
