Home of the Seasiders
WE extend a warm welcome to players and ofcials of Heavitree United 1st team, our guests at the Davey Fort this afernoon in the Devon and Exeter League Division Tree.
Te Exeter side are enjoying a successful season, having won four of their six games and sit in third place in the table behind leaders Hemyock and Seaton Town 1sts
We also welcome our frst match-sponsors of the season, Taylors Removals, run by Mark Batey, whose guests will be selecting the Lyme man-of-the-match. Mark has been a good servant to the club over a long period, being a member of the Wellman sporting dynasty which has served LRFC so well for several decades.
For our Reserve side, this season is proving to be very challenging with just four points from our frst six games. All but one of the clubs in this division are felding frst teams and we have to contend with a number of long journeys to such far fung places as South Zeal, Witheridge, Chagford and Halwill, all involving near three hours of travelling time.
Coupled with a long injury list and unavailabilities throughout the club, newly-appointed manager Wallace Blackmore has been forced to feld understrength sides but to his credit he has made a few new signings and is keeping morale high among the dedicated Ressies.
It is pleasing to see our First Team doing so well in the Premier Division. Last Saturday’s excellent 3-2 victory over Elmore 2nds was watched by more than 120 spectators, the atmosphere reminiscent of some of the glory days at the Davey Fort when we worked ourselves up the Devon and Exeter ladder from Division Six and the memorable Dorset county cup victories.
Today, manager Julien Simier takes his side to league leaders Alphington in confdent form, especially as Elmore were the only side to beat the Exeter side this season. Julian was ecstatic about last Saturday’s hard-fought victory (see his comments on page 7).
Tonight we present our player-of-the-month awards which will give Julien and Wallace the chance to recognise those players who are performing so well.
As always, spectators are welcome to join the players in an afer-match drink to see who wins the awards.

FIRST TEAM
IT WAS a week full of mixed feelings as we prepared to play Elmore on Saturday. On a positive side, we were welcoming back some players from our previous game. Important players in the way we want to play our football but also sadly we lost a few like Cam Fowler with a long-term injury. All at the club wish him a speedy recovery.
Higgsy was still not ready, Gazz still recovering from his calfinjury. So we still had a few key players out from the squad. But, as I mentioned from the beginning of the season, we don't let anything come between us this year. The spirit of the team is really good and it was proven the way we played the game this Saturday.
We played with a big heart. Managed some really good football, created some great chances where we could have scored more goals but the spirit and togetherness of the team is something I will probably mention above all and great individual performances.
We knew that the game will have lots of diferent momentum and that when we would be on top we would have to take our chances and score but also that we would be under a lot of pressure defensively and that's when we had to be strong mentally.
Meechy has been outstanding during the takeover making the few saves he had to do exceptionally well. Defensively the all
block was outstanding, with Brad Rowe (man-of-the-match) leading the pressing and defending from the front.
Ofensively we were good in patches, I wouldn't say it was our best footballing game but sometimes it happens and you have to dig deep, push your runs a bit more. Again Cally, Ben T and Fred P were superb in the middle, controlling those spaces and breaking the lines when we recovered the ball.
Bails and Josh R had a really tough game with their wingers dropping between the lines inside. Alex R and Felli gave us good control and balance between ofensive and defensive phases having to deal with a lot of long ball behind them.
Brad again was exemplary up top, full of runs and leading the press for us. Brad and Fred P being very close to each other worked really well and created a lot of problems for Elmore.
All in all, a very important win for the table but also rewarding the way we approach each games and try to play it with a big Seasider heart.

& EXETER DIVISION 3Today sees the Ressies take on a Heavitree United team here at the Fort for only the second time. Te previous occasion was in April when Lyme defeated a Heavie second string 3-1 with goals from Fred Tomson, Robbie Fowler and an OG. Meanwhile, the frst team's victory last week sees them unbeaten in six matches, their best run for 3 years.
MARK BAILEY 150 UP
MANY congratulations to Mark Bailey who notched his 150th goal for the club in the recent 4-2 win at Clyst Valley. I was priveledged to give Mark his debut on October 6th 2001 when he scored twice in the Ressies 6-0 home win over Drimpton in the Perry Street League Division 1 (Ollie Seed scored the other 4!).
The 150 have been punctuated by two hat tricks; against Merriott Rovers in 2010 and Pinhoe in 2015, whilst his most productive goalscoring seasons were 2006/07 and 2014/15 with 17 goals for the first team in each.
Mark has worn the captain's armband many times. He first lifted a trophy as skipper in 2003 after two James 'Scholesy' Beddows goals saw of Misterton 2-1 in the Arthur Gage Cup final at Axminster Town's old Sector Lane ground.
