Unfortunately, the Firsts don’t have a xture this a ernoon, a pity a er last week’s top performance against a side that pipped us to fourth place in the league last season. Still, it will give those players carrying injuries an extra week to recover. We meet Kentisbeare in the league on September 17th.

It was a fantastic all-round performance with some brilliant goals – not least Brad Rowe’s 40-yard exocet which will undoubtedly be in the running for goal of the season.

Then I found myself signing for the Seasiders. I played a lot in centre midfield which was new for me. I had an enjoyable
At 16 I got my first chance at men’s football for Axminster and made my debut for the first team that season, scoring my only goal for the first team in a draw against Topsham Town on the last day of the season. The club captain at the time was Gary Knight who is still playing today for the Seasiders.
few seasons, but sadly I picked up a bad knee injury in my third season, and was out of action for a year, I moved away from football entirely for two years.
I had always been interested in the tactical and coaching side of the game, and during this time I became even more interested and, after returning to play, I decided to start my coaching badges, and was o ered the opportunity to work under Dave Fairweather as the Assistant Manager at Ottery St Mary.
After that I had short spells with Seaton and Millwey Rise where I ended top of the scoring charts in my first season, before moving on to play for Ottery St Mary where I spent some challenging but enjoyable years.

RESERVES
I FIRST fell in love with football playing with my grandad in our garden, heading the ball over a tennis net to each other and doing kick-ups, and I started attending the legendary Chris Webster sessions at Axe Valley Sports Hall.
I learnt a lot from Dave and still talk to him regularly at length about coaching and local football.
During the pandemic I found myself back at Lyme and eventually stepping in during the Covid season to work with Dec Ellis to look after the Reserves. We have had a good few years finishing mid-table in both seasons in a really tough league.
My passion as a coach is helping players reach there potential, playing exciting enjoyable football and giving as many people as possible a platform to enjoy local football.
At 14 I joined Axminster to play youth football as a winger, but I was determined to play centre forward like my childhood idol Dennis Bergkamp. At the time I was playing in a team including several current and former Lyme players - Robbie Prior, Dan Beer, Mike Knight and Richie Emmett.
