GREAT sadness in Lyme Regis this week following the death of former pub landlord Ted Bignall, aged 90. Mr Bignall, a popular figure with young and old, ran the Angel Inn in Mil Green for many years and then worked as steward at the Wootton Fitzpaine Social Club before retirement. The brother of Olympic athlete Mary Bignall Rand, Mr Bignall hailed from Chewton Mendip in Somerset and worked on the railways before moving to Lyme. He was actively involved with Lyme Regis Skittles League during his time as a landlord and was a keen supporter of the Lyme Regis branch of the Royal British Legion and Lyme Regis Football Club. A funeral service will be held at St Michael’s Parish Church at 12 noon on Friday, October 12.
