Woodroffe alleviates coronavirus fears
Young talent shines at panto
THE Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis says it followed “all appropriate measures” after students returned from a ski trip in Italy, sparking some concerns about the spread of coronavirus. Some schools across the country have closed or sent students home in recent weeks, following trips and holidays to northern Italy in particular, where there has been an outbreak of the virus, also known as COVID-19. Year 10 students and staff from Woodroffe travelled to Italy for their annual ski trip over the recent half term break, but were advised that the area they visited was listed as ‘Category 2’. This means travellers do not need to undertake any special measures, but if they develop symptoms of coronavirus they should self-isolate and call NHS 111. REPORT, PAGE 3

fused in the latest round of grants, with councillors themselves describing the decisions as “brutal”. Only seven of 18 applications received a share of £60,000 available this year. The troupe has now turned to the public for support, launching a JustGiving campaign with the aim
of raising £10,000. The money would go towards music and lighting equipment, hall hire, storage, travel costs and uniforms, ensuring the majorettes can “continue providing this vital youth service to children and young adults across Devon and Dorset, all whilst entertaining the South West”. A spokesperson said: “Lyme
Regis Majorettes have been providing a vital youth service since 1982 to children all across West Dorset and East Devon. “With weekly training and an action packed carnival season travelling across Devon, Dorset and Somerset the girls work hard to achieve high results and lots of trophies each and every season.
