Councillor breaks code fo conduct LYME Regis councillor Cheryl Reynolds has issued a public apology after being found in breach of the code of conduct for using a racist term and calling another member a liar. After a fall-out over the removal of the teen shelter in the Anning Road playing field, Councillor Reynolds’ brothers – district and county councillor Daryl Turner and local fire chief Virgil Turner – submitted a formal complaint about her behaviour to West Dorset District Council’s monitoring officer. Councillor Reynolds was investigated for seven specific issues and was found in breach of the code of conduct on two counts. REPORT, PAGE 10

Traffic survey let down
LYME Regis Town Council has expressed “bitter disappointment” at a much-anticipated traffic survey, which cost £25,000. Councillors were expecting the report from engineers Hydrock before Christmas but have only just received it, and have expressed concerns it does not include public consultation. REPORT, PAGE 3

LYME Regis’ original high street - Coombe Street - was taken back in time to the 1840s this week as it was dressed for the filming of Mary Anning biopic ‘Ammonite’. Many residents have delighted at seeing businesses transformed into a traditional greengrocers, hardware shop and butchers, along with the appearance of horsedrawn carts, as filming continues with stars Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan. councillors allocated funds in the record time of an hour on Wednesday, with only two applications rejected. A grant application from Lyme Regis Town Band was rejected by officers before the meeting, as the money had already been spent and it is against the council’s policy to award grants retrospectively.
The remaining 26 applications requested a total of £50,772.79, against the council’s budget of £47,000 for grants. At the beginning of Wednesday’s meeting, councillors were asked if there were any other applications they felt should not be considered. It was agreed to reject Lyme Regis
