First cases of COVID at local schools THE Woodroffe School and St Michael;’s Primary School in Lyme Regis both reported their first cases of COVID-19 last week. The Woodroffe School initially told parents that two students - one from Year 8 and one from Year 11 - had tested positive, but the Year 11 pupil was later informed their result was actually negative and they had been given the wrong result due to a lab error. A pupil from St Michael’s Primary has also tested positive. REPORT, PAGE 3
Oak trees damaged on Colway Lane
CONCERN has been raised about damage caused to a line of ancient oak trees in Colway Lane, Lyme Regis. It is believed that the roots of the trees protected under a tree preservation order were damaged when a trench was dug on a new housing development currently under construction off Colway Lane. The issue is currently under investigation by Dorset Council’s tree preservation officer. REPORT, PAGE 2
■ THIS unusual view of Lyme Regis was captured by LymeOnline reader Michael Applegate on a long lens looking over the town from Spittles, off Timber Hill. It shows a wintery scene of the rooftops of Hill Road, Sherborne Lane and Broad Street, including the still-fire-stricken Regent Cinema, and even looking all the way down to the lifeboat station at the Cobb. Can you spot your house? Mr Applegate sent in the picture for our regular ‘Photo of the Day’ feature on social media - we’ll be sharing some more of our favourite snaps sent in over the past year in the next issue of LymeOnline on December 18.

ular, with pubs only allowed to serve alcohol along with a “substantial meal”, and customers only allowed to visit indoor venues with their own household or support bubble. One Lyme Regis pub - the Nag’s Head - has decided to remain closed for the time being due to the restrictions, with the hope the
county will be dropped to the more relaxed Tier 1 before Christmas. West Dorset MP Chris Loder voted against the Conservative party line on Tuesday evening following a debate on the new tier system. MPs were asked to vote on the CONTINUED ON PAGE 7
