The Millside named business of the year THE Millside Restaurant has been named Lyme Regis’ Business of the Year. The restaurant, which was taken over by owners John and Georgina Baker shortly before the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK, scooped the top prize at the inaugural Lyme Regis Business Awards on Wednesday, organised by Marketing West and LymeOnline. COVID figures start to drop across Dorset IN line with the national picture, coronavirus cases across Dorset have started to drop. The latest figures showed that there were 969 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Dorset Council area, down from 1,006 on July 23, and 1,843 in the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole area, a decrease from 2,113. A SUCCESSFUL RETURN FOR FIRST OF LYME’S MAJOR SUMMER EVENTS
LYME Regis Lifeboat Week has raised an estimated total of more than £33,000 for the RNLI, with the results of some events still to come in.
The week was opened by star RNLI collector Joshua Denning, aged 17, during a ceremony outside the lifeboat station. He kept his record as top collector last week, with £1,048 being donated to the RNLI

through his bucket. A packed programme of events, competitions and entertainment was held throughout the week, with highlights including a parachute display by the British Army’s Red Devils, watched by an estimated crowd of 3,000.
Other popular events included a fun run, swimming challenge, bathtub race, yard of ale competition, the illuminated boats and duck race.
