Man jailed after knife attack on coast path A MAN who attacked a woman and threatened her with a knife as she walked along a coast path just outside of Lyme Regis has been jailed. Vytautas Ausrota, aged 30, of Plymouth in Devon, was sentenced after admitting to threatening with an offensive weapon, committing an offence with the intent to commit a sexual offence and assault by beating. Fifth time’s a charm for newlywed couple LYME Regis couple Esme Hopkins and Duncan Weaver were finally able to say ‘I do’ on the fifth wedding date they had set over the past year. The couple were one of the first in the UK to make the most of eased COVID restrictions on Monday and married at Dorchester Registry Office with their mothers and witnesses, followed by a picnic on the beach with family. LYME Regis is expecting a tourism boom this summer, with the public encouraged to enjoy ‘staycations’ in the UK rather than booking international holidays. As COVID restrictions continue to ease, the town is anticipating an influx of visitors keen get away after a year of lockdowns.

A 91-year-old disabled man was seriously injured when his mobility vehicle reportedly ran out of control down the steep bank of Lister Gardens in Lyme Regis, crashing onto the flat roof area above Marine Parade.
