INGEBJØRG RANGØY SJÅLAND- LYKKETEGNING

Lykketegning («Happy-doodling») came into being almost by accident from a little absent-minded doodling that was made at a work seminar in Oslo by illustrator Ingebjørg Rangøy Sjåland in 2015.

After posting the first illustration on her Instagram, the response was immediate! She continued posting more drawings and in not too long Ingebjørg started getting orders for her art-work. The massive response lead to her taking a leave of absence from her position as social counselor for the community of Sarpsborg, her home town in Norway, to pursue illustrations fulltime.

Lykketegning was born and appearances in newspaper articles and national morning television in Norway further spread the word and grew Ingebjørg´s following. She became a Facebook phenomenon, and as she gave up her day-job for good she created, amongst other products, a line of tableware with her illustrations that is today sold in over 250 stores throughout the country. The «Happiness-mug» is her most popular item.

A growing audience globally is also appreciating her message of self-love, positivity and happiness and the feedback she gets, says that she is hitting home. The illustrations hold meaning and help people through difficult times. Through simple lines, bright colours and uplifting citations she connects with her adult audience through reminders of what is important in life.

I give you the hearts and smiles to remind you that you are great! » ¨I’m very fond of all my illustrations. They hold meaning for me and reflect on what’s important in my life. The inspiration comes from the people I meet, nature and everyday life. It’s important for me that other people know their worth and that they are unique in their own way. Many people wish to have these reminders in their home, and they appreciate that I can illustrate their thoughts and wishes. I have always been a visual person and used to love photography. Now I’m trying to get the images in my head down on paper by drawing. I love doing this and look forward to each new day at work! ¨
