FAQ (1) Is this going to be like IB? No, they are completely different programs What is the difference between the International Section and the IB? The International Section is a program that is agreed upon between the French Ministry of Education and the American College Board to provide a thoroughly bilingual and bicultural education. The IB is a private program that was developed in Switzerland, with no relation to the French Ministry of Education. Will there be more US Math in the International Section? No, the guidelines require that in the American Section, History and Geography is the cultural component shared between French and English. However, we are working to find other ways to better address the wide range of math needs expressed by our families.

FAQ (2) Will students be taught US history? Students in the middle school will learn the French program, but in both French and English. In 9th grade, a portion of the History program will include key aspects of US history, and US History will be taught from 10th -12th grades, as is already done. Will students be tracked? In middle school, students will not be tracked for English. Instead, all students will be in mixed groups for 5 hours a week, and the IS students will have an additional hour as a group. History and Geography classes may be tracked for organizational purposes. In 10th grade, students will choose their track for the remainder of the program, for both English and History-Geography. Who will teach the History/Geography English component? All of our French Histoire/GĂŠographie professors have specific certifications to teach in English. In order to facilitate the smoothest transition possible for our students, we plan to have those teachers teach the entire course in both French and English.
