The St. Petersburg Yacht Club is one of the most historic yacht clubs in the United States. Established in 1909, the Club is located on the sparkling waterfront of beautiful downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. A gathering place for avid boaters and community leaders, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club is also one of Tampa Bay’s most prestigous social venues.

Enjoying over a century of traditions, warm hospitality, world-class sailing and outstanding dining, Club members and their guests not only value and respect its tradition of excellence, they feel it when they visit.

Membership includes utilization of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club’s remote, quaint and casual Clubhouse and Marina at Pass-a-Grille (adjacent to St. Pete Beach), the St. Petersburg Sailing Center, and Snell Isle Marina.

Do you qualify for the Legacy Discount?

If you have immediate family who is a club member -Parents, Siblings, Children, Grandparents or Grandchildren - then you are eligible to receive 50% off the prevailing Initiation Fee. (certain restrictions apply)

Membership is by invitation only. New member candidates are required to provide one proposer and two endorsers who are active members of the yacht club.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many members does the club currently have?

The St. Petesburg Yacht Club is home to almost 2,000 members.

Our membership is quite diverse with many individuals, couples, and families who share similar social, networking, and boating interests.

We are proud to be called a “second home� by so many of our members.

Do I need to own a boat to join?

No. A boat is not required to become a member.

We have a great mix of members who are boaters and non-boaters.

Do I need to know a member to join?

The St. Petersburg Yacht Club is a member owned private club whereby membership is by invitation only. However, if you do not know a member who can propose you, we will have an individual from the Membership Committee reach out to establish a relationship and become better accquainted.

Afterwards, an informal interiew with the Membership Committee will take place to finalize your application.

Are there water activites and classes for kids?

Yes! Our youngest SPYC members can enjoy youth sailing, windsurfing, and fishing programs beginning at 5 years of age.

We also offer a Kids Summer Camp at our Sailing Center.

Are there reciprocal privileges to other Yacht Clubs?

Yes! Members can enjoy the benefits of our extensive reciprocity program to many other yacht clubs locally, nationally, and internationally. Besides the 35 Florida clubs within the FCYC, here are a few other well-known clubs we have reciprocity with: St. Francis Yacht Club Newport Yacht Club New York Athletic Club San Diego Yacht Club Chicago Yacht Club Royal Thames Yacht Club Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club ...plus many more!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How many boat slips does SPYC have?

We have over 120 boat slips. Once you are approved for membership you will be able to apply for a boat slip.

(Applicants applying for Active, Intermediate or Pass-a-Grille Only memberships qualify for boat slips.)

Currently there is a waitlist at all three of our marinas.

Transient dockage is also available. For more information on dockage, please contact our Dockmaster at (727) 822-3227.

What other events happen at the Club?

We host monthly, holiday, and annual events...too numerous to list in our brochure! Some popular events include Easter and Mother’s Day celebrations, Lobster Pot Night, Commodore’s Ball, Thanksgiving, our annual Street Party, Grand Prix Garage Party, and our well known Children’s Christmas Party & Brunch!

How long does it take to be approved for membership?

The approval process normally takes between 30-45 days. Once your application is submitted you will be eligible for a guest pass so you can try out and enjoy the club. Applications are first presented to our Membership Committee, with final approval from our Board of Directors.
