DIMENSIONS, COLOUR & SHADING
Although we have made every effort to display the colours accurately, we cannot guarantee that this printed brochure directly reflects the colours of the actual product. As products can vary slightly from these images, we advise you to order a sample for true colour representation. Please note that tiles are created in batches and some shade variation may occur between batches. Products with the same colour name, such as “grey”, are not necessarily the same exact colour shade as another product with “grey” in its name. Please do not order using colour names or product names as your guide to colour. Our tiles are manufactured to extremely tight tolerances, however due to the nature of the manufacturing process, sizes, weights, capacities, dimensions and measurements indicated may vary slightly.
GOODS
We take care to ensure that all of our Goods leave us in perfect condition. All orders must be examined on delivery and any shortages, damages or other discrepancies should be brought to our attention before installation. Confirm that all products have been inspected and approved before installation begins, as the installation of the product signifies acceptance.
MAINTENANCE
Glazed porcelain, ceramic or glass tiles and mosaics can be cleaned using mild household cleaners, taking care not to scratch the surface. Dark grouts can stain tiles, conduct a sample test before grouting. A grout protective sealer may need to be applied prior to grouting. Do not use harsh chemicals, such as those designed to remove limescale, or abrasive cleaners which may damage the surface of the tile. Natural stone or polished porcelain tiles should be cleaned using a sealer which is suitable for the material to avoid damaging the surface or removing the protective coating of the sealer. For Al Fresco outdoor porcelain tiles, sweep the area to clear away dust, dirt and debris. Fill a bucket with warm soapy water. We recommend using a porcelain cleaner – do not use acid based or abrasive cleaning products. Wet a scrubbing brush with the soapy water and scrub the surface of the tiles until clean. Leave to dry naturally.
MOSAICS
Like natural stone tiles, mosaic sheets that contain stone pieces will require sealing to prevent staining. Mosaics that contain metal pieces should not be installed in areas where water may collect. When fixing any mosaics it is important to use an adhesive and grout that are specified for the material content of the mosaic sheet. For mosaics containing glass pieces use a suitable adhesive specified for glass mosaics and the substrate they are to be fixed to. If fixing in wet areas we recommend using an epoxy adhesive and grout following the manufacturer’s instructions.
AL FRESCO GUARANTEE
Al Fresco tiles have a 10 year structural guarantee. We warrant that the structural integrity of the product will not fail, under normal conditions, within a period of 10 years from date of purchase. Because specific installation details, structural design and environmental conditions are beyond the control of the Company, we cannot accept responsibility for the improper installation and/or care and maintenance of our products after they are installed. However, in the event of latent defects in the product caused by improper manufacturing, the Company will replace any defective product, provided the Company is notified in writing. The Company will also not be responsible if tiles are installed with a visible defect. The Company must pre-approve the cost of the replacement, in writing, prior to commencement of any warranty work.
SLIP RESISTANCE R RATINGS
These are German test methods that require an operator with standard footwear (DIN 51130) or barefoot (DIN 51097) to walk on he test surface. This is fully recognised and adopted in the UK. Known also as the ramp test, the inclination angle of the test surface, can be varied under the control of the operator, the test surface can be sprayed with liquid contaminant at a prescribed rate, motor oil (DIN 51130) or a soap solution (DIN 51097). The operator, wearing a fall restraint harness gradually increases the inclination of the ramp until he or she feels insecure or slips when walking up and down the slope. The “R” values range from R9, which has a small degree of slip resistance, up to R13 which is the highest slip resistance. R9 & R10 ratings are suitable for indoor domestic areas, whereas R11 ratings and above are also suitable for external applications. We don’t recommend R9 rated tiles to be used in wet areas, such as wet rooms.

SLIP RESISTANCE THE PENDULUM TEST
The Pendulum Test simulates the action of a shod foot slipping by swinging an imitation heel clad with standard soling rubber over the test surface. BS 7976 Pendulum testers defines the apparatus and test method, while other standards, eg. BS EN 14231 Natural Stone Tiles, refine the test method for particular floor coverings. PTVs can be obtained for dry surfaces and surfaces contaminated with water. Research has proved the pendulum test to be accurate and reliable and it has been adopted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as the standard test for the assessment of floor slipperiness in dry and contaminated conditions. It also has the advantage of being portable and therefore capable of producing in situ values. The HSE emphasises that pendulum operators need to be fully trained to obtain consistent results.

PEI RATINGS
PEI is the abbreviation for Porcelain Enamel Institute. A PEI Rating is given to a tile product based on the hardness of its glaze. This hardness is determined by the manufacturer using a standardised test. The results of this test will determine the proper usage of a product. It is important to note that the PEI Rating is the result of testing glaze wear only, and not slip-resistance. Natural Stone and other unglazed products are not glazed and are therefore not rated.

1. DEFINITIONS
“The Company” means The Mosaic Tile Company Limited trading as Verona. “The Buyer” means the Person, Firm or Company to whom the goods are delivered or sold and any person, firm or company that subsequently ratifies the orders for the goods. “The Goods” means all Goods supplied or sold to The Buyer by The Company. “The Price” means The Price for The Goods excluding carriage and Value Added Tax. “Current Stock” means lines that are live and appear in the most recently dated price list.
2. ORDERS
2.1 All orders are accepted subject to the availability of the required goods and the acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. 2.2 All orders shall be confirmed by The Buyer in writing and an order number or a name in full of the person placing the order must be given. The Buyer is responsible for checking all order confirmations issued to them. 2.3 In the event that we are unable to supply The Goods to you for a reason beyond our control, we will notify you and may offer you alternative similar products (if available). 2.4 The Buyer should order the correct quantity required at any one time for The Company cannot guarantee to repeat the same shade. Shade variation is an inherent characteristic within the manufacture of tiles and natural stone products. 2.5 Once the order is in picking stage, no amends or additions can be made. A new order will need to be placed. 2.6 The Company will not accept any claims whatsoever if the tiles have been fixed. All tiles should be checked for shade, texture and size at the time of delivery.
3. PRICES
3.1 Unless otherwise agreed by The Company in writing, The Price for The Goods shall be The Price set out in The Company’s price file at the date of order acceptance and confirmed by the sales order confirmation. 3.2 Prices are subject to alteration without notice. 3.3 The Price for The Goods shall be exclusive of any Value Added Tax.
4. DELIVERY
4.1 While The Company will make every effort to affect delivery on the date and at the place specified it cannot accept responsibility for failure to do so. 4.2 The Buyer shall be responsible for unloading the goods expeditiously at their expense and with their labour. 4.3 For the purpose of general appreciation, the vehicle making the delivery is likely in most cases to be the comparative size of a Fire Engine or slightly larger. It is The Buyer’s responsibility to notify The Company of any circumstances that may affect the delivery using a vehicle of this size i.e. parking restrictions, “Red Routes”, vehicular access due to height or width, narrow roads, road works, gravel or uneven driveways, building sites, high rise apartments (with or without lifts) etc. Failure to communicate any relevant information to The Company prior to delivery may result in additional costs for the re supply and may also increase the delivery time. See Appendix 1. The buyer’s goods will normally arrive on pallets. Please be aware that these pallets are non-returnable. 4.4 The delivery driver cannot help with moving The Goods inside a delivery site; the load will be dropped at the nearest convenient point to the site, which could be the roadside. Somebody must be there to receive the delivery, otherwise The Goods will not be off-loaded and could result in a re charge for a new delivery. 4.5 Please make sure that when the delivery has been made, all products are checked to ensure everything is in a good and undamaged condition. Anything contrary to this, please record with the delivery driver. The company will not accept any discrepancies if the delivery is accepted as good. If you have asked for someone else to receive the order on your behalf, they must be thoroughly informed of these conditions. 4.6 The Goods shall be at The Buyer’s risk from the time of delivery notwithstanding that the property in the goods remains with The Company as provided by condition 11. 4.7 The Company will share The Buyer’s delivery information with relevant third party couriers to ensure delivery as requested by The Buyer. This will encompass delivery details and customer contact information, if provided by The Buyer. 4.8 All goods are accompanied by a delivery note that shows the order reference, product description, code, and total quantity in pieces. Notwithstanding this clause 4.8, the company shall have no liability (and for the avoidance of doubt shall not be subject to any penalties) in respect of any incorrect or missing delivery documentation. 4.9 In the event that the buyer requires a proof of delivery (POD) this can be requested by the buyer. POD’s no longer tend to collect signatures anymore but will now consist of a delivery photo and/or GPS location data.
5. USE
5.1 No tiles are guaranteed against crazing or variation from samples and/or representations. Crazing is an inherent characteristic within the manufacture of tiles. Due to natural variations in natural products and in production batches, exact batches cannot be guaranteed. Samples and sample boards are intended to be average representations of the product only. Photographical images may not accurately reproduce the exact shade of the product. If this is important, then customers are advised to order samples. Please ensure you find an acceptable blend on all the tiles before fixing and note that no responsibility can be accepted after the tiles have been fixed. The pigments of coloured grouts may penetrate the surface of some products but this does not constitute product failure.
5.2 Subject to condition 5.3 The Company warrants that (subject to the other conditions) on delivery The Goods shall: (a) be of satisfactory quality within the meaning of the Sale of Goods Act 1979, and (b) be reasonably fit for purpose. 5.4 In the event of a warranty claim where a warranty fault can’t be identified, but the customer insists there is warranty fault, Verona can then appoint a 3rd party inspector to commission a independent inspection report of the goods in situ at the customers expense. All applicable charges for such an inspection are to be paid for by the customer in full, prior to the visit. If the issue is deemed by said inspector that a warranty issue is present, Verona will then reimburse the full inspection fee back to the customer.
6. DAMAGED/INCORRECT OR SHORTAGE OF GOODS
6.1 All Goods must be checked on receipt and any damages, shortages or incorrect products must be advised to The Company by email immediately – this is imperative. No responsibility for damaged product, shortages or incorrect products can be accepted after 48 hours. Images must be supplied of any damages. 6.2 The Company’s liability in all cases is limited to replacement free of charge or at its option to making a fair cash allowance not exceeding the invoice value of the goods. 6.3 The Company’s liability will not extend in any circumstances to consequential loss or damage or loss of profit whatsoever and howsoever incurred.
6.4 If The Company arranges a collection of the damaged goods, we will endeavour to have The Goods collected within 5 working days Mon – Fri. A collection note will be given and this must be included with The Goods being collected. Failure to attach the form will result in a delay of The Goods being checked and credited.
7. TRAVERTINE INFORMATION AND DISCLAIMER
7.1 Travertine is commonly used as outside cladding and Décorative paving, as well as inside for floors, walls and countertops. The Company stocks travertines that are “filled and polished” or “filled and honed.” Travertine is generally filled with resin based filler before it is honed or polished, which produces a uniform surface more like other marbles. Travertines result from hot spring water percolating up through underground limestone. When the water evaporates, it leaves behind layers of dissolved limestone and other minerals, giving it its banded appearance. The characteristic holes in travertine are the result of trapped gas bubbles; as the gas escapes, crystals form in the cavities. Natural travertine will have voids on the surface, and these voids are filled with resin based filler during production. In the case of cross-cut travertine, some of the holes will be near the face but will not actually window out of the face. Since these voids are not exposed during the production process, they are not filled. Once the product is fitted, the thin shell of travertine separating the void from the face is not strong enough to support traffic, especially heels. The stone will “pop” out at these locations, exposing the previously undetected void. This is an expected occurrence in travertine. The holes simply need to be refilled with a similar type and colour of filler material as was used in the factory. Depending upon the size and frequency of holes, this procedure may need to be repeated several times. It is similar to a “break-in” period for the floor. Travertines range in hardness from 4-5 on the ten-point MOHS scale (diamonds are 10; granites are ±7), making it suitable for most areas of the home. Care does need to be taken, however when choosing material for a high-traffic area which might be subject to etching substances. Travertine is not suitable for heavy duty or commercial areas. Like any stone, travertine should be sealed with a professional sealer to prevent stains from penetrating into the stone. 7.2 Further to the above statement The Company takes no responsibility for Travertine being applied in an inappropriate area. 7.3 The Company will not accept any claims with regards Commercial Travertine.
8. RETURNS/REFUNDS
8.1 Goods not used and still held by The Company as current stock can be returned for a full refund within 14 days from date o order. The Goods need to be returned in original packaging, unused, undamaged and fit for re sale with a copy of the returns note supplied by The Company. 8.2 Where The Company agrees to accept any return of goods The Buyer will be charged a restocking charge of 25% and the relevant carriage charges will be applied. To avoid any misunderstanding on the carriage charges please speak to our Sales Support Office. 8.3 Credits for returns will only be processed once the goods have arrived with The Company and have been fully inspected and deemed to be in a re-saleable condition. Returned products will only be credited if they have been returned in a way that protects them in transit. The Company reserves the right to amend the amount refunded based on the value of the re-saleable goods. The Buyer will be advised of any amendments to the value prior to the credit being raised. 8.4 Returns will not be accepted without prior arrangement with our Sales Support Office.
9. FORCE MAJEURE
The company reserves the right to defer the date of delivery or to cancel the contract or reduce the volume of The Goods ordered by The Buyer (without liability to The Buyer) if it is prevented from or delayed in the carrying on of its business due to circumstances beyond the reasonable control of The Company including without limitation acts of God, governmental actions, war or national emergency, acts of terrorism, protests, riot, civil commotion, fire, explosion, flood, epidemic, lock-outs, strikes or other labour disputes (whether or not relating to either party’s workforce) or restraints or delays affecting carriers or inability or delay in obtaining supplies of adequate or suitable materials.
10. PAYMENT
Except where a credit account has been opened for The Buyer by The Company, payment of the price and Value Added Tax shall be made by cleared funds prior to The Goods being collected or delivered against a Pro Forma invoice. Credit account invoices are due for payment on the last day of the month following that in which the invoice is dated, or as agreed between The Buyer and The Company. If The Buyer should commit a breach of any such terms then The Company may at its election without prejudice to any rights it may have suspend any further delivery or cancel the Contract. Goods are invoiced at the point of dispatch.
11. INSOLVENCY
If The Buyer makes any voluntary arrangement with its creditors or becomes subject to an administration order or (being an individual or firm) becomes bankrupt or (being a company) goes into liquidation (otherwise than for the purpose of amalgamation or reconstruction), or an encumbrancer takes possession or a receiver is appointed of any of the property or assets of The Buyer, or, The Buyer ceases or threatens to cease, to carry on business, or, The Company reasonably apprehends that any of the events mentioned above is about to occur in relation to The Buyer and notifies The Buyer accordingly. If this clause applies then, without prejudice to any other right or remedy available to The Company, The Company shall be entitled to cancel the contract or suspend any further deliveries under the contract without any liability to The Buyer and if The Goods have been delivered but not paid for the price shall become immediately due and payable notwithstanding any previous agreement to the contrary.
12. PASSING OF PROPERTY & RISK
12.1 Conditions 12.2 to 12.7 inclusive shall apply to goods for resale, samples, sample boards and display stands whether invoiced or supplied on a free of charge loan basis. 12.2 The Goods are at the risk of The Buyer from the time of delivery or from the time The Buyer collects the goods from The Company’s premises. 12.3 Ownership of the Goods shall not pass to The Buyer until The Company has received in full (in cash or cleared funds) all sums due to it in respect of: (a) The Goods; and (b) All other sums which are or which become due to The Company from The Buyer on any account.
12.4 Until ownership of The Goods has passed to The Buyer, The Buyer shall: (a) Hold The Goods on a fiduciary basis as The Company’s Bailee. (b) Store The Goods (at no cost to The Company) separately from all other goods of The Buyer or any third party in such a way that they remain readily identifiable as The Company’s property. (c) Not destroy, deface or obscure any identifying mark or packaging on or relating to The Goods; and (d) Maintain The Goods in satisfactory condition and keep them insured on The Company’s
to inspect them, or, where The Buyer’s right to possession has terminated, to recover them. 12.7
the right to suspend existing arrangements to supply and suspend further deliveries without liability to The Buyer.
13. NON ASSIGNMENT
The Buyer shall not assign this contract without the Company’s written consent.
14. THIRD PARTY LIABILITY
The Company shall be under no liability in respect of any damage or loss to third parties caused directly or indirectly by the goods and The Buyer shall at all times indemnify The Company against any such loss or damage.
15. DATA PROTECTION
The Company is committed to protecting your privacy and fulfilling its obligations under UK Data Protection Laws (General Data Protection Regulations). The Company will use your information when we have the relevant consents in order to inform you of offers, news and new product catalogues and for profiling your purchasing preferences. We may keep your information for a reasonable period to contact you about services in the future.

16. PROPER LAW OF CONTRACT
The proper Law of the Contract shall be English Law.
Appendix 1 - Access to residential properties.
Access to your premises must be suitable for a 30ft (9.2m) heavy goods vehicle (for example, can a fire engine get to the drop off point?)
If permits are required, they must be obtained by the customer.
If there is restricted access you must provide detail for the following questions as this will enable the transport provider to determine the most appropriate vehicle to use.
- Can a fire engine/refuse wagon access the drop off point?
- Is the property accessed by a narrow lane/road?
- Are there any low overhanging trees?
- Are there any low bridges?
- Are there any low cables?
