RESPECTING OUR NEIGHBOURS Here at The Broadway, we wish to minimise the impact we have on our neighbours. We respectfully ask that when around our site or in the immediate vicinity, visitors dispose of their rubbish in the bins provided. Toilet facilities are also available in the clubhouse. If the clubhouse is locked then please speak to a member of our team at the tea hut who will be able to open it.

Thank you, your co-operation is greatly appreciated.

WELCOME TO LLANDRINDOD WELLS AFC A warm welcome to our first home game for the 2019/2020 season. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters and sponsors for their continued support and we look forward to seeing you throughout the season.

The club are keen to develop both on and off the pitch and have invested across the board to help give players both young and old the opportunity to enjoy and play football at high quality facilities. The club have invested highly off the pitch over the past couple of seasons thanks to grants from the FAW as well as from the support of sponsors. New floodlights have been installed allowing all areas of the pitch to be fully illuminated during evening games, the toilets in the clubhouse have been redecorated and a disabled accessible toilet has been installed. Over the close season a number of improvements were made to the club facilities, the most obvious of these will be the 100 new flip seats that have been installed in the stand. We have also had emergency lighting and a new sound system installed, as well as additional showers and toilets installed in the changing rooms. The club currently run two senior sides, with the first team competing in the MMP with Normal Lloyd Mid Wales Division One and the reserve team competing in the Watson Associates Mid Wales South league. The club also run a number of junior boys and junior girls sides from the ages of Under 5’s and upwards. With the junior boys currently competing in the South Powys Boys Leagues and the junior girls competing in the North Powys Girls Leagues. The club are always looking for players and coaches to join the club so if you would like to help then please speak to a member of the committee. As we look forward to the season the club are looking to once again move forward. With improved sponsorship opportunities including new aluminium sponsor boards and match day sponsorship, the club look forward to continuing to work with old and new sponsors. We hope you have an enjoyable evening watching a great game of football (and hopefully a victory for Llandrindod) and look forward to seeing you in the clubhouse after the game.

LLANDRINDOD WELLS AFC FIRST TEAM Llandrindod Wells AFC are once again led by player manager Gareth Jones. Having lead the club to the Cymru Alliance in his first period in charge of the club, Gareth continues this season with help from assistants Neville Pritchard and Peter Baker. An 8th place finish last season was a major improvement over the previous season which saw the first team finish in 13th place. A real positive to take from last season is that 5th place was only six points away and only the top four teams had a better defensive record. Goals will be key if the first team are looking to be competing at the top end of the league this season with an improvement on last seasons tally of 52 goals needed. A long preseason has seen the first team play six games over the past month against both local teams and from further afield. A slow start with two defeats, including a humbling defeat against local rivals Newbridge on Wye was followed with two wins and a draw from the final four preseason games. The first game of the season saw the first team travel for an early kick off last Friday night against Radnorshire rivals Radnor Valley FC. The Spamen ran our comfortable victors after two first half set piece goals, with Michael Collister scoring a penalty after Samed De Groot was fouled in the area and Kieran McCarley scoring a freekick after he was fouled on the edge of the area. TODAY’S OPPONENTS WELSHPOOL TOWN FC Former Welsh Premier League side Welshpool Town are todays opponents. Having been a main stay in the top two tiers of the Welsh football pyramid for many years, Welshpool have featured in the Mid Wales Division One for the past eight seasons with most of those mid table finishes for the club nicknamed the Lilywhites. Their return to football in the Mid Wales Leagues saw former professionals Chris Kamara and Paul Merson turn out for the club. Unfortunately their impact didn’t have the desired effect as Welshpool still lost the games that the pair participated in. After a disappointing 13th place finish in the 2016-17, Welshpool bounced back to finish in 2nd place in 2017-18 and 5th in 2018-19. A key man for the Lilywhites over the past couple od seasons has been striker Will Thomas who scored a mightily impressive 58 goals in the league and cups last season as he retained the Mid Wales Leagues Golden Boot. Welshpool started their league campaign away against Carno on Saturday and came away 4 - 3 winners with Will Thomas continuing where he left off last year, scoring all four of Welshpool’s goals. The sides also met in the second game of the season last year, with Llandrindod running out 4 - 1 winners on the night. The return fixture in March saw a much tighter match with neither side being able to find the back of the net in a 0 - 0 draw.

LLANDRINDOD WELLS AFC RESERVE TEAM The reserves are under new management this season with Dai Evans stepping down at the end of last season. This season sees Matt Richardson as manager, assisted by Andrew Morgan and Ben Jones. The reserves have had a positive preseason with wins in their first three games including a 7 - 1 victory against league rivals St Harmon at the end of July and end their preseason with a friendly against Builth Wells Reserves on Tuesday. A number of new faces have come into the squad to join those who have stayed on from previous seasons. The reserves will face a tough start to their league campaign on Saturday when last seasons league winners, Talgarth Town visit. Talgarth are in good form with a 2-1 victory over Penybont in the summer cup just last weekend. Favourites to win the league this year however won’t be Talgarth, with new addition to the league Brecon Corries looking to be the side to beat this year. Brecon have played in the South Wales system for many years and have come back to Central Wales ahead of the league restructuring next season. As well as Brecon Corries, there are two other new additions to the Watson Associates Mid Wales South this season, with Rhyader and Knighton both reviving their reserve teams.
