ST Paul’s Anglican Grammar School’s current Year 6 cohort will be the first to complete Year 12 in Traralgon, after the announcement of $15 million capital investment in the campus. Principal Cameron Herbert last week announced the Futures Centre, the first of a three-stage project, will begin construction at the end of this year. Students at St Paul’s currently travel to the school’s campus in Warragul to complete Year 11 and 12. Mr Herbert said the Futures Centre would be the first of many significant plans which will see major and ongoing investment in the region over the next decade, during which the school will
invest $40 million in its campuses across Gippsland. “The first stage here will be the Futures Centre. That will hold our administration centre, it will have a performing arts precinct, innovation hub with a secondary library adjoining it, a cafeteria and a lovely outdoor spaces and indoor meeting spaces, student commons and staff facilities, Mr Herbert said. “We have a wellbeing centre in the Futures Centre as well because that’s obviously an important thing for people today. “At this time creativity and innovation are absolutely pivotal for future citizens and that is why we have chosen to include the innovation zone and the arts centre.
“The next two stages will include a science laboratories, extra science facilities, new visual arts facilities, general learning areas and any specific VCE needs. “This first stage will be about $6.5 million and the next two will be roughly $4 and $4.5 million (respectively), it can vary of course but it will be in place for our 2027 Year 12 students. Mr Herbert said the school also plans to open a Drouin campus in 2024, after it had been gifted a 36-acre plot. Parent Renee Cargill has three children studying at St Paul’s and said she was excited by the opportunity for her son, currently in Year 6, to attend school in the same town as they live.
