Americas3 Savor the Flavors of this Musical Melting Pot
For music buffs who love to sample flavors from all over the world, there may be no better musical group than Americas3. Rich in multicultural influences, this show represents the three Americas – South, Central, and North – and the richness that each continent brings to the world. The three female lead singers (L to R), María Jiménez, Sherri Willeto, and Karin Stein, are all from different countries throughout this region, adding authentic voices to the group’s performances. María hails from northern Colombia, Sherri Willeto is part of the Navajo Nation of New Mexico, and Karin Stein is from eastern Colombia. Through song, narration, and poetry, Americas3’s musical/theatrical production guides you through the themes of migration, suffering, work, love, sense of place, and celebration as expressed in each culture.
Karin, who also serves as the group’s producer, calls their performance, “a thought-provoking variety show that evokes the beautiful mosaic that is America.” Where else might you find a musical mélange of salsa blended with classic rock, traditional Lakota lullabies, and a dash of Venezuelan cowboy tunes mixed with the personal expression of Maya Angelou? Female empowerment also resonates in this 60-minute performance, which favors compositions written by, or made famous by, women. Karin says their goal is to take audiences on a symbolic journey of universally-shared experiences. With a mixture of internationally known covers, lesser known traditional songs, and original compositions, this unique blend engages audiences of all ages, genders, and ethnic backgrounds.
