Company News TWO NEW SHOWROOMS FOR HUMANSCALE - INSPIRED BY HUMANCENTRED DESIGN Humanscale has opened the doors to its latest showroom in the vibrant City of Manchester, further reinforcing its presence in the North of England. Located in the Old Town, formerly home to the infamous Factory Records label, this unique space is the perfect backdrop to showcase the inspired human-centred products for which Humanscale is renowned. This will be Humanscale’s second showroom in the UK this year, after moving to a new, stunning, flagship space in the heart of London’s design quarter. When Humanscale originally put down roots in Clerkenwell in 2001 it was the first outpost beyond North America. Ever since, the UK capital has had a key role in the business, acting as the catalyst to grow the brand internationally. As designers and manufacturers, Humanscale has created high-performance tools that support a healthy, more active way of working since its inception in 1983, inspiring movement and physically supporting users in their every posture. Humanscale has become the market leader with this approach, immune to the fads and trends that plague the contract furniture industry. Instead it has pre-empted and solved many of the issues to have impacted on workplace life over recent decades: health

and wellbeing, activity-based working, and mobility. Originally led by the revered Niels Diffrients and his ground-breaking Freedom Chair, along with collaborations with Todd Bracher in more recent years, the Humanscale Studio has also evolved to produce even more innovative and market disrupting solutions to the way people perceived office furniture. The portfolio of products comprises, chairs, monitors arms, task lighting, sit-stand solutions as well as keyboard trays and computer mice. Humanscales’ success now allows them to invest further in its showrooms to communicate these vital messages to a wider audience, with further showroom openings

globally this year in New York, Paris and Dubai. The combination of ergonomics, high design aesthetics, health and well-being, and ethical materials, has seen Humanscale have a major impact on office life from Indianapolis to India, and on businesses from Apple to the BBC. Humanscale’s philosophy can be summed up like this: good design achieves more with less. Pakize Nasuh, Managing Director of Humanscale UK & Ireland, says: “Humanscale has always understood how to communicate a complete desk solution as a high-performance work tool rather than a mere commodity. Comfort and ease of use is paramount in everything we do and I am delighted that we will be able to communicate this important message effectively to even more people.”

IDEAL STANDARD INTERNATIONAL STARTS COLLABORATION WITH RENOWNED ITALIAN DESIGN STUDIO PALOMBA SERAFINI ASSOCIATI Collaboration with Ludovica and Roberto Palomba builds on the company’s strong design heritage working with some of the world’s most iconic Master Designers to redefine design for modern living. Ideal Standard International, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high quality residential, commercial and healthcare bathroom solutions, announced in December, at the Milan Triennale its collaboration with prominent Italian architects and design studio Palomba Serafini Associati. The company also announced the creation of a Design Center in Milan, where Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba will work closely together with internal Ideal Standard experts and his own design team to drive Ideal Standard’s overall design philosophy. The new collaboration fits perfectly within Ideal Standard’s long and successful history of Innovation and Design. A history of combining cutting-edge technologies with avant-garde aesthetics to accompany society’s evolution and redefine the role of the bathroom within it. In the 1950’s and 1970’s for example, working with Master Designers like Gio Ponti and Achille Castiglioni, Ideal

Standard was instrumental in developing the bathroom from a purely functional room to a real living space that holds a prominent role in the house. Today, as society continues to evolve at incredible speeds, Ideal Standard wants to build on this heritage and challenge itself and its designers once again to imagine what’s next. To take technological innovations and design to the next level and build for the future. “The earlier design masters really elevated Ideal Standard into the culture of Design, leaving behind a rich heritage of drawings and design archives”, said Torsten Türling, CEO of Ideal Standard International. “Having been ‘raised’ by these design masters and representing Italian design in all its aspects around the world, we could think of no-one better than Ludovica and Roberto Palomba to explore this heritage and translate it into the 21st Century.”

in the footsteps of these Italian Masters and support Ideal Standard’s continued journey to design and develop innovations that will once again redefine not only bathroom design, but design in general.”.

Commenting on the new collaboration, Roberto Palomba said: “When done right, a well-designed project completely transcends its function and becomes timeless. Some of Ideal Standard’s designs, created by Italian icons such as Ponti and Castiglioni are perfect testimonies to this principle. I am honoured to follow

The first results of the new collaboration between Ideal Standard and Palomba Serafini Associati will be previewed next year during “ISH 2019”, the world’s leading trade fair on the responsible management of water and energy in buildings taking place in Frankfurt, Germany from 11 to 15 March 2019.

SWA specifications ensure a British supply chain Britain’s long and well regarded engineering heritage continues to flourish across a number of sectors; and can be seen fully represented by the businesses, of different sizes, which belong to the Steel Window Association. The SWA membership undertakes a wide range of work, from replica refurbishment, and even in-situ repair, to the fabrication and installation of new, high performance fenestration and doorsets, which are fully compliant with current building regulations. All of them, however, manufacture their products here in the UK using a mainly British-based supply chain.

Bankside Brilliance – The Latest Project by Hill House Interiors

When a brand new 22nd floor bankside penthouse was introduced to Hill House Interiors as a blank canvas, they felt duty bound to deliver a scheme as stunning as the 360 degree views enjoyed from this exceptional 4 bedroom duplex home. Relishing the challenge, the talented multi-award winning team took a detailed brief from the clients and created interiors worthy of this iconic landmark building, famous for its dramatic glass pitched roofs. The clients, a professional couple with global business interests, gave Hill House a detailed brief, confidently underlining their love of strong colour, particularly red, their passion for the exotic wild tiger, and their need of a few quirky surprises to entertain guests as they explore the main reception areas of their fabulous new London home. Stepping out from the glass-walled lift directly into the apartment entrance hall, their fondness for the eclectic is immediately apparent – giant full height mirrors to the right reflect the deep padded scarlet leather panels on the opposite wall. Incongruously, porcelain hands peep out from the padding, which as well as creating the requested surprise element, also have a practical use, and the entire area is sparklingly lit by a dozen suspended Swarovski crystal pendant lights. Helen Bygraves, co-founder of Hill House Interiors, explains; “The couple saw something similar in an interiors magazine and loved it, so we set about creating a version especially suited to the hall’s proportions. The hands are actually coat pegs for the use of visiting guests!” Continued >> Luxury Interiors Magazine - 11

In the vast open plan double height living room, more drama awaits; stretching across two walls are hand carved metal panels featuring a vibrant jungle scene, complete with prowling tigers. Soaring to the ceiling of the upper internal gallery, the framed and lit bronze artwork creates the ultimate show stopping backdrop to this impressive living space. Dividing this wonderfully gargantuan room into comfortable sitting areas started with the placement of a large Hill House designed ebony lacquered full height cabinet, which separated two distinctly different zones. One side houses a Planicka gel fireplace and overhead, a built-in wide screen TV. Relaxed viewing of both screen and flickering flames is enjoyed from a tailored L-shaped ivory sofa, bordering a boldly-coloured splash-patterned rug. A circular lighting installation with Olympian overtones throws a soft overhead glow on this scene stealing room setting. The reverse side of the cabinet incorporates some essential entertainment features and also provides dramatic focal points. In prime position is the cocktail bar, where a sleek, cosmic black granite counter tops a back lit dragon-stone panel. Standing by, a pair of luxe and supremely comfortable bar stools, from Hill House’s own collection, await guests wishing to sip their aperitifs whilst enjoying unparalleled views of the London skyline. Above the bar is a second wide screen TV , bordered by spotlit alcove shelving – the perfect home for rare malts or post dinner ‘digestifs’. A temperature controlled humidor for the Havanas and two wine chillers are deftly tucked out of view beneath the bar. Facing the bar in prime position under the soaring glass pitched roof is a magnificent red lacquered baby grand piano, hand finished by the highly respected family12 - Luxury Interiors Magazine

owned Edelweiss company. An adjacent lounging space with an alabaster low seated, curved edge sofa and pair of deeply buttoned cylindrical armchairs sit atop another showstopping rug, featuring the clients’ favourite big cat, the tiger, securely inset and surrounded by handsome oak wood flooring. Fine dining is definitely on the clients’ menu in this property, with their supersized one off table, crafted out of a rare piece of recycled sugar wood, the open fissures inlaid with a contemporary pewter toned resin with transparent glass inlay, and accompanied by twelve upholstered red velvet dining chairs. The tableau is completed with a unique Sharon Marston contemporary coral and silver chandelier.

Jenny Weiss, co-founder of Hill House Interiors, comments; “The chandelier was custom made, each strand measured to a specific length to line up with the ascending height of the overhead lofty glass ceiling. Each strand was hung separately to ensure a sleek and perfectly level finish above the table.” Leading off through wide glass doors from either side of this spectacular living space are two substantial triangular roof terraces, lined with elegant opaque white planter. These softly light up as dusk falls, throwing a gentle glow on the built-in barbeque and elegant Italian white lacquered penthouse furniture, cushioned in the clients’ favoured flame hues.

Contemporary Fitted in Washed Oak and Flat Grey

Taking fitted furniture to the next level Introducing our all-new and exclusive Contemporary Fitted range. Available in both fitted and wall mounted configurations, the emphasis is on tall mirrors, contemporary Scandi-inspired finishes and feature metallic accents.

As our 30th anniversary approaches, Utopia Bathrooms is consolidating its pioneering role as leader of the fitted bathroom furniture market with the launch of Contemporary Fitted, a fabulous new range that takes fitted furniture to the next level. With its original management team firmly

back in place, Utopia intends to celebrate its anniversary year by revolutionising the concept of fitted bathroom furniture. Commercial Director Pete Penlington explains “Fitted furniture is what we are famous for at Utopia but in design terms it seems to be over-shadowed by wall mounted. Now we have focussed all our experience and design expertise on creating a range of fitted furniture that is effortlessly stylish and elegant but also supremely practical.” He continues “2019 will be our 30th anniversary year and we see Contemporary Fitted as a celebration of everything we stand for at Utopia – quality, design innovation, ease of installation and exceptional service.”

“New Contemporary Fitted is all about the experience” 22 - Luxury Interiors Magazine

Introducing new Contemporary Fitted, Rich Shore, Utopia’s Head of Product Design, says it is all about the experience – touch, colour, light and elegance. The elegant, handleless drawerline concept accommodates a wide range of storage solutions that not only runs seamlessly wall to wall but also floor to ceiling. Contrasting colours and textures are key to the new collection which has just four carefully selected door finishes. Alongside Flat White and Flat Grey, which have beautiful matt satin finishes, Sandwashed White and Washed Oak have been developed using the latest technology to reproduce natural colour and deep wood grain perfectly. Door and fascia colours can be mixed and matched while a sensational finishing touch is added with a beautiful metallic trim available in chrome, copper or matt black. From this palette of just four colours and three trims, it is possible to create an amazing number of combinations. In 200, 300, 350, 600 and 700mm widths, the base cabinets all feature a setback low level plinth, a clever stylistic touch that gives the furniture perfect proportions and creates a floating effect when illuminated. The standard option is a base cupboard with an internal shelf, upgrading to a single deep storage drawer or ultimately a deep storage drawer which conceals a second accessory drawer. A comprehensive range of wall and mirror cabinets in the same widths as the base furniture but with extended height, allows a

Contemporary Fitted in Washed Oak floor to ceiling fit offering exceptional storage capacity. The addition of a ceiling filler means that ceiling heights between 2.2 and 2.4m can be accommodated. Also handless, the wall cabinets are available in co-ordinating finishes or framed double sided mirror doors. A tall sit-on unit featuring the distinctive decorative trim allows the wall space to be utilised completely. All wall cabinets have two fixed glass shelves positioned to accommodate taller items and

there is also the option to have an internal sensor light so that the cabinet is fully illuminated on opening. Completing the cabinetry is a range of coordinating bath panels with a 100mm plinth, available in 1700 and 1800mm main panels and 700, 750 and 800mm end panels. Company News MAJOR MILESTONE FOR LINEAR PROJECTS AS BUSINESS CELEBRATES 25 YEARS - TURNOVER TOPS £19M IN 2018 2018 has proved to be a definitive year for Glasgow and Manchester based integrated interior fit out specialists, Linear Projects, with turnover topping £19m, office staff increasing to 45 plus on-site operatives to 200 - and a 25th anniversary. Starting life in 1993 as a labour-only family business, then known as John Holmes Contractors, offering dry lining and suspended ceiling solutions, the business evolved to Linear Projects in 2003, going on to secure a turnover of £1m a year later. The steady growth and expansion of Linear Projects has ensured stability and strength, with it now working with a number of the UK’s largest contractors, on some of their most significant and major projects.

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS AT WASHROOM AND CRE8 HQ Leading washroom designer, manufacturer and installer, Washroom Washroom is in the process of extended and expanding its head office and factory in Essex to increase its production space in order to meet growing demand. The extension, which will increase the factory size by 25 per cent, will provide both Washroom and its partner company,

In the last 2 years alone, Linear Projects has worked on the world-leading, multi award-winning new Macallan Distillery and Visitor Experience and was appointed by Robertson to deliver interior packages on

“The Linear Projects ethos has always been about doing the job right and making sure the outcome is the very best it can be.

The extension is designed to increase Washroom’s manufacturing capacity to ensure it is able to continue to manufacture in house. This not only gives the company control over the finish quality, it also enables the team to create items bespoke to a client’s exact specification, developing a design to meet a given brief.

Commenting on the milestone, Stephen Holmes, CEO of Linear Group, said:

“It is this commitment that has shone through consistently over the last 25 years of business. When my father started this business, this was his commitment and we hold it true today as much as he did 25 years ago. “I am incredibly proud of what the business has achieved and of the contribution of each and every member of our own team and the operatives have made in delivering each projects through to such high quality completion. “Looking at the projects we have worked on and are currently involved in, it is clear to see how far we have come and the strength of our reputation in the industry today.” Key company milestones: • 2004 – turnover hits £1m • 2007 – appointed to first major healthcare project; Forth Valley Acute Hospital • 2008 – Manchester office opens • 2010 – turnover tops £5m • 2015 – key accreditations expanded • 2017 – appointed to largest project to date, AECC, with a value of £15m • 2018 – win FIS Gold Award for The Macallan Distillery and Visitor Experience fit out work

The Tap and Tandoor, Solihull A gastropub with a nod to Indian culture THE CONCEPT AND BRIEF The latest concept from the restauranteurs behind Zindiya in Mosely, Birmingham. The aim was to create an Indian gastropub serving craft beers paired with delicious Indian food. 2G Interiors and Build were tasked with designing and delivering a traditional British gastropub with a craft beer offering that artfully interweaves Indian culture. INSPIRATION Old colonial indian buildings, gardens and their dĂŠcor served as a rich starting point in terms of inspiration. As did colours reminiscent of Indian culture; peacock teal, rich blue and golden yellow. Continued >> Luxury Interiors Magazine - 27

Project The space itself, the Saddlers Arms, a typically British pub abundant with heritage and original features provided a hotbed of inspiration and was central to the design process. OUR APPROACH It was imperative that the integrity of the pub’s original architecture was maintained, we achieved this by restoring dado rails, adding dark wood flooring and exposing as much brick as possible. Bespoke light fixtures, copper accents, ornate tiling and botanical elements were layered and juxtaposed whilst dditional splashes of colour throughout, within the furniture and artwork, reinforce the Indian scheme. The ladies’ bathrooms take in elements of grand colonial Indian houses with verdant wallpaper and flowers. While the male toilets are designed to complement the Tap and Tandoor’s craft beer offer with keg urinals and industrial modern décor. Capacity: 70 Area/Sq footage: approx. 220 sq metres Date: June 2018

Roman scoops NHIC Award

Stacked and Layered a new range of contemporary door knobs Turnstyle Designs is excited to announce the introduction of two new stunning door knob designs at this year’s September trade shows, 100% Design and Monaco Yacht Show. It has been several years since Turnstyle has had any door knobs in its range of architectural hardware, but responding to popular demand and the resurgence of door knobs, the company has come out with its unique take on this traditional product.

Leading international shower designer and manufacturer, Roman, have won the prestigious consumer safety award for compliance in bathroom products at the renowned NHIC Awards black tie ceremony. Roman won the prestigious NHIC Award for innovation and initiatives to promote consumer safety through compliance in bathroom products and installation. The award focussed on Roman’s exemplary product safety and particularly on the ongoing promotion and communication of CE Marking at all stages of product communications in all channels.

The Layer, designed by Wayne Dymond, is a striking, bold design that combines layers of Amalfine or timber sandwiched in thick layers of solid brass, producing a simple but very effective contemporary door knob.

The awards ceremony was a prestigious black tie event held at the spectacular Whitehall Place. Since 1974 the NHIC Awards have recognised achievement in UK housing and have grown over the years to become highly regarded as the premier event in the home improvement and modernisation sector.

The Stacked, designed by Christina Roberts, comes in four of the bestselling Amalfine designs (Wire, Facetted, Shagreen and Barrel) as well as leather and newly introduced Oak. Bold designs stacked between two slim layers of brass and set on a contemporary rose. Cabinet handles are also available to coordinate with the door knobs.

David Osborne, Managing Director of Roman, commented: “As a British Manufacturer we’ve placed huge emphasis on our programme of conformity and CE Marking which all contributes to enhanced Brand reputation. We are delighted to receive recognition in this increasingly critical area.”

The new designs are a clever fusion of classic product with a completely original contemporary twist, cleverly incorporating Turnstyle’s trademark mix of materials and finishes (each design is available in over 64 combinations of materials and finishes). JYSK IN THE UK DELIVERS RECORD ANNUAL RESULTS With an increase in both turnover and customer numbers, JYSK in the UK has delivered record results for the financial year 2017/2018. A growing number of customers in the UK are choosing the Scandinavian retail chain JYSK when they go shopping for items within sleeping and living. As a result, JYSK in the UK has delivered the company’s best results ever with turnover increasing by 21.5%, compared to the previous year. David Ashton, Country Manager, said; “The UK retail market has experienced a troubling period during the past year, caused by both market and consumer uncertainty. What has been refreshing 36 - Luxury Interiors Magazine

here at JYSK is that we have performed the opposite to the majority of the market; we have now posted seventeen months of consecutive growth. However, we have to fight harder than ever before to attract customers to our stores, where we can showcase them our great offers – thanks to our huge global buying power. “Our 2017/18 growth was achieved by the like-for-like sales increases in the key categories of Furniture (23.7% increase), Mattresses (29.2%) and Garden (21.35). “At JYSK we do not focus on selling just our GOLD quality, premium range of items to our customers. Instead we focus on what we call competent service – that means finding the right item(s) to match that customers specific needs. We ensure that all our colleagues in-store, who are a key part of #TEAMJYSK, have the knowledge to sell a great night’s sleep and/or create a cosy, HYGGE lifestyle environment for our customers. We focus on creating strong teams, in fact, we will

close for an extra two days in FY19 to give back to our colleagues and develop a team spirit. We are also focused on making all customers feel welcome as they walk into a retailer that is excited and grateful for their visit.” The positive results from JYSK in the UK are part of a greater success story, as JYSK Group, which operates more than 2,600 stores in 50 countries, announced record results with a total turnover of 3.577 billion EUR and an EBIT result of 474 million EUR. In the UK, JYSK opened one new store in the year, with rapid expansion and existing store upgrades planned in the new financial year. Results for 2017/2018 • Turnover increase from 2016/2017: (21.5%) • Customer increase from 2016/2017: (8.1%)

CEO of Stone Age, Gary Walters says: “Our aim is to create a space where interiors buyers can see so many options in one place. When you’re refurbishing a property – either commercially or your own – you need to consider the best materials for all rooms – and whether that’s marble or porcelain,

ceramics or wood – we can give our customers the best advice and great value for money as it’s all done under one roof. And we support them along the way - from choosing the material they want, to template design, manufacturing and installation.”

Stone Age produces beautiful, high-end stone for interior and exterior projects – ranging from flooring to one-off bespoke elements. First launched 30 years ago in 1988, the company has grown organically, building up a network of trusted suppliers which provide the very best materials available worldwide. Stone Age currently has a turnover of £4.5 million and employs 35 members of staff and the future plan is to diversify further and open more showrooms across the country. They currently have locations in Parsons Green in London and Clifton Village in Bristol. Founder of Root London, Darren Hopkins says: “We are delighted to offer visitors the chance to view our sample flooring in the new Stone Age showroom in Hertfordshire. Root uses carefully selected wood chosen and cut by artisans with years of experience using advanced equipment and techniques to produce the finest engineered oak flooring. “We want to give visitors inspiration – they may have stone flooring in one room and wood in another; the new Stone Age showroom gives home owners, interior designers and architects that perfect choice.” The new Hemel Hempstead showroom is located at Boxted Farm, Berkhamsted Road, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP1 2SG.

Up Your Style Game with 2019 Four Top Trends

Being in the world of interiors means consistently being on the top of your styling game, Hill Interiors are focused on zoning in on upcoming trends and timeless ideas to bring you a wealth of creative interior inspiration. From bold statements to luxury pieces to vintage trends and floral features, read on for our top picks. A Blast from the Past

Vintage features are showing their face and the past is creeping back in a stylish way. The “less is more” trend has taken front and centre stage in recent years but the “more is more and less is a bore” style is coming back with a bang. Vibrant colour combinations, flirty accessories and flamboyant elements are the main features of this trend. Fringing and pom poms are sure to be swishing into interiors everywhere making its way onto curtains, cushions, lamp shades and even furniture.

Under the Floral Spell

Although it’s important to remember that floral trends are subjective and have their own interior interpretations, we are seeing a noticeable change in floral style transforming from bloom heavy and introducing more detailed floral content. Dark and

opulent interiors with plush velvets and luxury golds demand luscious blooms. However, there has always been an enduring love and resurfacing elements of naturebased florals. From pure textures and shapes, to local seasonality and foraged components, the coming years are all about embracing the goods that nature gives. Incorporating moss, branches, bold statement colours and minerals will be the identifying style for many arrangements.

The Industrial Revolution

Industrial luxe interiors are set to make their mark on the industry. Moving away from a rustic approach of industrial style and introducing luxury elements to create a contemporary twist on the trend by merging two contrasting yet complementing styles. This is a softer approach compared to the usually harsh style which will

incorporate natural materials such as concrete and copper teamed with luxurious accessories such as velvets and gold. Tough luxe is the new luxury.

Luxe Living

Think plush velvet, opulent colours and lavish lighting, these features will be setting the way for many interiors. Sumptuous velvet is sticking around but we will see this used with bold colours and mixed with metallic features alongside darker walls, a key trend which has started to show more recently. Simplicity will also be key, combining chic and luxurious together to create a modern living space with little clutter and lots of style. A New Year brings new trends and new ideas, so why not let us inspire you this year? Ensure your buying is on trend, in season, and full of style with Hill Interiors. - Hill Interiors

THE COMPACT HARDY STOVE FROM ARADA The smallest stove in Arada’s Hamlet range, the Hardy has been designed with compact living areas in mind. Whilst petite in size, the Hardy stove still offers the same superior heat output and burn efficiency that is expected from any of Arada’s classic and contemporary designs. Available in a choice of two sizes, the Hardy’s outputs range from 4.2 – 5kW ensuring that cosy living spaces are heated evenly and effectively throughout the winter months. Both options boast an impressive A+ energy rating, meaning that the appliance will run at top efficiently and therefore be more cost-effective to operate. The Hardy stove is designed with impressive dual-fuel capabilities, meaning that it is fully prepped to burn both wood and smokeless solids. Combining that with a secondary burn for higher efficiency and a superior pre-heated airwash system, which ensures that the glass stays clean for a maximum view of the flames, the Hardy might be compact in size but far exceeds itself on functionality. When it comes to the aesthetics, customers can choose from Arada’s signature palette of seven colours, from the traditional tones of Slate, Midnight and Sandcastle, to the eye-catching hues of 40 - Luxury Interiors Magazine

KASTHALL CLASSICS: NOW IN NEW COLOURS AND PATTERNS Kasthall’s Classic rug, designed by the former design director of Kasthall, Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg, was launched in 2011. Seven years later, the Kasthall Design Studio is now delighted to present this contemporary classic in nine new colours and three new patterns. As the name suggests, Kasthall’s hand tufted Classic rug has become a true icon over the years. Now the rug is being updated in new colors and patterns to keep it contemporary and in tune with current and future styles and trends. Classic is now available in no less than nine new hues, from powdery brown, beige and light pink tones to lively pink and turquoise colors. The new colors are drawn from Kasthall’s three colour themes of the year: neutral, exclusive and colourful. Classic is also being launched in three new patterns, Matris Small, Matris Large and Links, created with a surface where cut pile is mixed with bouclé pile. With an elegant, detail-rich, textile pattern, Matris Small and Matris Large leads the mind to raw silk fabric. Links, with its larger, playful pattern,

works well in all shapes, but is particularly suitable as a round rug. Classic is a highly versatile rug, available in a wide range of colors and patterns. Customers can also decide if they would like a bouclé border on two or four sides of the rug. Classic can be tufted into any shape or size, opening up for room specific flooring.

CLASSIC Classic is hand tufted in long-fibre wool yarn with a lovely lustre and sheen. The high quality of the wool makes it suitable for both private homes and public spaces. Classic is now available in 16 colors and eight patterns. It can also be ordered in special colors for larger projects.

Chestnut, Spice and Atlantic. The Hardy also comes with the option of a top or rear flue fitting, so that if it’s being fitted as a freestanding appliance, the flue pipe can run internally as a feature or discreetly up an exterior wall. The Hamlet range comes with a 10-Year Warranty on the stove body, so as long as your stove is purchased from an Arada authorised retailer and installed following the correct environmental regulations, your stove will keep you warm for many winters to come. Project News MACAULAY SINCLAIR TRANSFORMS FORMER MET BAR INTO GRIDIRON BY COMO THE INTERIOR architecture and design studio behind the new Gridiron restaurant within COMO Metropolitan London Hotel in Old Park Lane, Mayfair has been revealed as Nottingham-based Macaulay Sinclair. The studio, which specialises in creating exceptional spaces for the hospitality sector, has transformed the former Met Bar into the new 60-cover restaurant and bar, which opened this autumn. Headed up by co-directors John Macaulay and Mike Sinclair, the studio has worked with a number of well-known multi-site and independent restaurant and bar operators across London and beyond, including Hawksmoor, Dishoom and Wright Brothers. Mike Sinclair said: “The Met Bar was a go-to London destination and the celebrity haunt of the nineties and noughties era. We are proud to have been part of the team to bring an indulgent and intimate dining experience into such a landmark location.” The prestigious venue will be overseen by renowned chef Richard H. Turner of Turner and George, Blacklock, Hawksmoor and Meatopia. Mike continued: “In order to give the new restaurant and bar its own identity while remaining synonymous with the COMO brand the interior design has been kept simple and understated, providing a subtle backdrop for Turner’s kitchen.” Paying homage to the art of grilling over an open fire, the new restaurant has an open kitchen with modern live-fire grillroom.

The interior is dominated by monochrome palette throughout, with accents of red, dark wood and marble. Wall finishings remain simple and sleek, and the stripped

back furniture matches the ethos of the food and service: comfort and style without unnecessary formality. The restaurant’s history, menu and ethos are also communicated through a collection of carefully curated drawings depicting historic cooking implements and meat cuts, communicating the origins of the live-fire restaurant cooking and the provenance of the produce. “With every project that we work on we take into consideration the heritage of the building itself as well as the brand narrative,” added Mike. “Transforming such an iconic London location was really exciting for us. It was also our first time working with the COMO brand and we’re thrilled with the result.”

One Park Drive Canary Wharf Project - One Park Drive Residential Tower Executive Architects - Herzog & de Meuron Main Contractor - Goddard Littlefair Wood Flooring Supplier - The Solid Wood Flooring Company

One park drive designed by Herzog & de Meuron is the signature building of the new residential district. This new residential circular tower is positioned at the head of the dock, it proudly represents everything that makes the new neighbourhood so special – a unique architectural achievement thoughtfully designed to be the very best in the city and waterside living. We worked with Goddard Littlefair who are the designers to create a timber floor that was a perfect match for all their colour palettes for each level and apartment type. Goddard Littlefair is an award winning practise and are very exacting in the specifications and requirements. The top image shows the 1 bed apartment with our Dove Grey engineered wood floor in a very select grade. The images were taken by Gareth Gardiner a professional photographer. The larger apartments have a totally different look and feel and by using a darker palette the designers have created a very rich luxurious look that matches all the interior fittings.

The two bed apartments have our Burnt Fumed Colour Oiled Oak flooring finished with a top coat of UV oil to protect the surface. You can see how we changed the direction of the flooring by the doorway to create a threshold with the same floor rather than trying to match something else. We use “Fuming” and Coloured Oils to create unique floors. With our “Matched Ends” tongue and grooved boards it is very easy to achieve this. Visitors to the marketing suite on level 31 at One Canada Square can see this for themselves. Phone: 01666 504015 www.thesolidwoodflooringcompany.com

Each room set showcased real hotel bathroom specifications with each presenting distinctive showering solutions with integrated solid surface Corian fabrication. Fabricated Corian designs were featured on the stand through basins, vanity units and the overall structure for the bathroom. Matt Lissaman, Regional Sales Manager (London) at Häfele UK, comments: “I really enjoyed meeting the students and talking to them about the different aspects of kitchen design. Coming down to the studio allowed them to experience a range of different products first hand and explore how they can be incorporated into the kitchen. Their enthusiasm and ideas were truly refreshing. Not only was it an interactive, informative experience for the students, it was also great to work alongside both our Studio Partner and one of our trusted suppliers to give back to the local community.” Emma Mcloughlin, Business Development Manager at Regal Kitchens, comments: “We try and organise an event every six months for the students to learn about kitchen design. Having talks from Häfele and Vauth Sagel were a great way to demonstrate to the students the supply chain involved here at Regal Kitchens.”
