Not many careers begin with Estée Lauder and end with selling waterfront estates, but for Ty Evans, the path was as natural as it was extraordinary. After nearly four decades in real estate—and more than 33 years on Bainbridge Island—Evans has become a trusted name, known for her unmatched customer service, deep community ties, and a reputation that locals simply summed up as you need to call Ty Evans.

At just 25 years old, Evans was the youngest account executive for Estée Lauder on the West Coast. A personal invitation from Mrs. Lauder led her to Seattle, where she directed a special project for Bruce Nordstrom at Nordstrom—a venture that was an unqualified success. Though she thrived in the corporate world, Evans soon felt drawn to something more personal: homes, neighborhoods, and community. “I’d drive through Madison Park and think, what a wonderful job it would be to help people find and sell these beautiful homes,” she recalls. In the late 1970s, she joined Windermere Real Estate, where she has remained for more than 38 years.
In 1993, Evans and her husband moved to Bainbridge Island to raise their four children—two sets of twins—in what she hoped would be the perfect community. “When I arrived, there were just 14,000 people here. Today, it’s more than 25,000. It has grown into what Vogue has called the ‘Nantucket of the Northwest.’” Evans has embraced that growth while maintaining the island’s unique sense of character. For the past 15 years, she has been Bainbridge’s numberone agent, selling more waterfront properties than any of the island’s 200-plus agents. Remarkably, about 90 percent of her business comes through referrals. “Customer service is a dying art,” she says. “For me, it’s the cornerstone of every client relationship.”
