How did Paul Allen Custom Homes get its start, and what inspired you to enter the luxury homebuilding space?

We are celebrating our 40th year in homebuilding this year. Can you walk us through your custom homebuilding process — from concept to completion?

What project are you most proud of and why?

For the first time in 40 years in business, we have a true model home. It is in Cordillera Ranch; it’s fully-furnished and it is spectacular. We work from here every day with our team, and we have a great time doing what we love in a beautiful space – what a gift!

How does your company stay ahead of the curve when it comes to materials, sustainability, and smart home technology?

This is where the inquisitive minds on our team get a lot of energy. We love to dig into the latest developments in waterproofing, materials, and the technical specifications that are less exciting. Executing these details the right way helps us all sleep better at night.

We also have bright creatives on our team who love the latest in finishes, surfaces, and appliances – and we’re always thinking of ways to introduce subtle lighting into every space.

You’ll hear us imitating Paul saying, “Steady as she goes,” which is an old sailor refrain he learned from his childhood spent on the water with his family. We love the new ideas and technology – and sometimes those new products are a good fit and other times they aren’t. So, “Steady as she goes” becomes the reminder to stay balanced and always put the client first.
