THE BASICS: PLANT CARE TIPS
WATERING: Protect your investment by watering manually for the first two months, 3-4 times a week, if plants do not receive any rain. Watering should be done at the base of the plant, not on the air or leaves. A shower head or drip irrigation is recommended. Water slowly and deeply rather than frequently and shallowly. To encourage deep root growth, allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Very dry soil is slow to take up water; you may need to water one plant, move to the next, and then return to the previous one to ensure the water is able to soak into the ground.
Perennials: 30 seconds - 1 minute
Trees and shrubs: 2-3 minutes
PRUNING: Do not prune in late summer or fall, as it promotes tender growth that cannot survive the winter. Prune during late winter or early spring. Remove no more than 30% of the plant when pruning. Remove problematic branches first, such as dead branches, branches growing directly from the roots (usually appearing near the base of the tree), and branches growing toward the center of the plant. Thin out dense growth to improve light, rain, and air penetration, thus enhancing your plant’s overall health.
Disinfect and clean your pruning scissors when moving from an unhealthy plant to a healthy plant to avoid cross-contamination.

PAVER MAINTAINANCE TIPS
DE-ICING: De-icing substances may accelerate surface wear on some paver styles. Use them in moderation. Substitute rock salt with calcium chloride pellets as it is less damaging.
SEALERS: Sealers should not be applied more than once every three years, to a maximum of two applications. Too many applications will create a film on the surface, which may discolor in sunlight.
POLYMERIC SAND: The joints between paving stones are the most vulnerable areas of any installation. Keep these joints topped off with jointing sand to prevent the sand-bedding layer below from deteriorating, causing the pavers to shift.
OIL SPILLS: In the event of an oil spill, act to remove it promptly with granular oil absorbent. Spills should be soaked up, not rubbed. Rubbing will drive the stain deeper into the concrete.

Carmelo’s journey stemmed as a young kid, captivated by his father’s stories of transforming lakeside mansions into stunning landscapes, which instilled in him a deep appreciation for the artistry of Outdoor Living--.
After earning his Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois in 2019, Carmelo faced a tough job market. Undeterred, he decided to start his own lawn mowing business months after. Drawing on the lessons learned from his father and fueled by commitment and work ethic, he grew his garden maintenance business into a full landscape construction company known as Luxury Gardens Landscape.
Today, Carmelo remains at the forefront of industry trends, committed to delivering unparalleled customer service and the highest quality projects.
